Most IMPORTANTLY join a school or see a professional instructor!! It's statistically proven the single most important ingedient to safe paragliding is education. And while I can assure you everything in this video is correct there are a few more uncomplicated steps to go through to safely learn piloting yourself. Very nice motivator this video!! 👍
I've been teaching paragliding since the mid 90's, the vast majority (coming from all over the world, as well as UK based pilots) of my students are RE-training 'pilots'.... I've been highlighting the danger of school/'professional' training for decades.... the ONLY people that should go to normal paragliding schools are those that WANT normal accident, injury & death rate..... Personally having flown well over ten thousand hours I've lost count of the number of 'expert' / 'professional' individuals no longer in the sport (or alive!) That said SELF practice as per stated here is a GOOD starting point just DON'T automatically trust videos/books/instruction (unless you WANT 'normal' injury/death rates... NB 95% of what I teach directly contridicts 'normal training' (which is why I'm still alive & never had a personal hospital visit!)
@ParaglidingScotland what is normal training ? Is there no guidelines or accredited schemes that ensure correct training ? I am asking as I was looking and searching for schools recently, and as a beginner educating myself 1st is very important as I have a family and would rather stay safe thanks
@@urbanmythfpv3121 Compare it to learning how to drive. It highly depends on where you learn. AFAIK there's no international standardized training. I had the luck to learn with a good school in Switzerland. I learned later on that CH has the highest requirements for pilots education. We have a mandatory pilots license with a list of theoretical and practical requirements in topics addressed, number of flights, maneuvers flown which gets examined before you get a license. Schools and teachers need certification. That said there are still big differences between instructors and I loved my school particularly because I had training days with many different instructors in many different places and conditions. That way you can learn a lot. I heard that in other places no license is required at all, good instruction is rare and pilots need to be a lot more disciplined to be safe. I hope the general level of training and know how is rising and will spread to everywhere where there are people interested.
I had absolutely no idea how it all worked, but I popped up here just because my boss loves this sport and asked me to teach him about the names of all the gear and "bam"... here I am! We're from Brazil. Loved the lesson! Thanks!
I started this month my paragliding journey and soon I will have my first high flight here in Bassano (Italy)! Hope to meet you one day, because your videos are one of the things that made me take the decision to start the course 💪🏻💪🏻
Wohoo sooo great to hear that Mattia!! Stoked for you. I can imagine you are having epic time with your first flying steps 🦅🦅🦅 Yeaa maybe we catch up somewhere one day :) everything is possible 🔥
@@AddictionHappiness hi friend! What’s your advice on a first wing? A course I have seen includes the bgd Adam for you to keep, but would it be better to get a used one? A class vs b class for a beginner as well?
New Subscriber, love your content and just ordered a shirt and sticker. I jumped into paragliding at 54 and for my 55th BD I am going to Annecy with another pilot to fly the French Alps. I choose Addiction Happiness…It’s never to late. Beautiful flying all year here in Southern California Santa Barbara. You ever come I got a spot for you guys. Love you guys. Cheers and Thanks…Ohh will be there April 29 to May 10th or so if anyone wants to connect. Caio

I think starting in a field or at a beach would be a good place to learn to start. A hill may give you to much lift. Like your videos on the airfields.
what made me laugh was in the video the guy Sayed practice in a field away from electricity.... few moments later a power plant pops into frame hahaha. great video very interesting 👍👍👍
Love your explanation of the lines, brakes, toggles and wing. 👍 Starting my own Paragliding journey soon, so that was a nice heads up for my initial training. Very good video. 👍
nice video mate you really scoot over how hard ground handling is at the start lol. My first flight was 700m needing to fly over a highway to the landing, wish i had dreamy grass slopes !
Yes! I like both type of harnesses.. but maybe a little bit more split leg especially for groundhandling control and little better feeling in the air for me personally. 🔥
I usually like your videos but as you call it a how to start and not just a presentation, I think for this one it's important to add a warning. You should also mention to people to go to a school before getting their first fly. There are so many other things to consider about the technic, weather and so on to fly secure. Getting a wing and start ground handling in kinda windy conditions as you mention, you could be taken off from the ground in a second and have a very bad landing... Safety first 👌
Hey if you listen careful you can hear I mention “this is just to give you an idea…” :) Also there is recommendation in description to find local course/schools 🔥 Thanks for support tho!! :) More flying action soon 🦅🤩
I love how good this video is in explaining everything. That said, I have learned that I've been lying to myself about wanting to do this all along. Those threads gave me anxiety. 😅😂
Heyy, can you post what equimpent you are using? Love your channel! i Made my licens last week, now i want to buy stuff...i start with Wani 3, Advance Alpha 6 used (still searching for one) and i am unsure with my safe rescue...want to buy a good one (new) german shops want to sell the "SQR" but i want to choose the right one i terms of price and quality ratio...can you reccomend a specific rescue to look for? Thank you!
I can't believe they are letting you glide that close to a power plant. I also can't believe there is a power plant out in the middle of that beautiful green field.
Hello there ! If a hike and fly paragliding competition is held in Cappadocia Turkey, would you consider participating? How can we contact you directly if necessary
Who makes that kiting harness? It looks simple and useful. I'm using a modified construction safety harness which is functional but not ideal. Love your videos. Keep it up!
The Best way to start Paragliding is have the wing fully inflated, level over your head, before you do another thing... LMAO. Good stuff thanks for posting...
Make sure you poke him back! 😄😄 No but seriously it’s a low chance scenario and even if it happens in case damage is dangerous while flying you still have reserve parachute 🔥

Fun and safe flights🦅
Do you have any permission. Can you train me
I am in kSA

The video description covers this well. I hope most people read it.

Have you tried little cloud gt with seatboard harness?
Yes! I like both type of harnesses.. but maybe a little bit more split leg especially for groundhandling control and little better feeling in the air for me personally. 🔥
Excellent.

Where was this video shot?
I can't believe they are letting you glide that close to a power plant. I also can't believe there is a power plant out in the middle of that beautiful green field.
It’s really magical little slope! I don’t even wanna think about anything else around it.. enjoy the time there as much as I can 🔥🔥🔥

Hey hey 👋 Thanks but I don’t go to competitions 🙏🔥
Who makes that kiting harness? It looks simple and useful. I'm using a modified construction safety harness which is functional but not ideal. Love your videos. Keep it up!
It’s proper reversible light harness from Littlecloud 🔥
Never forget helmet and gloves !
🙌
" There Can Be Only One " Sounds just like Connor McCloud 🎉
hello , what model of harness is it?
Littlecloud turtle 🚀

Haha lets gooo! 🤩🤩🔥🔥 Thanks for support!!
@@AddictionHappiness I figured you would appreciate my sense of humor... Thank you
What kind of pilot do you think the Urubu is for?
Experienced haha :)) I use it for everything from hike and fly to soarings, proximity and XC. Very versatile wing overall.
do you ever wear a parachute or reserve in case something goes wrong?
Absolutely 💯 You have quiet a few options to mount your reserve - depends on your harness. You can even have two. 🔥
What if you land in the nuclear reactor in the background?
Fuuuuu ☠️
I wish I had a beautiful field like that where I can train. Unfortunately, I live in Germany
It is very hard to find spots like this here as well... pretty luck with this one.
What if an Eagle come and poke it?
Make sure you poke him back! 😄😄 No but seriously it’s a low chance scenario and even if it happens in case damage is dangerous while flying you still have reserve parachute 🔥
Strong hort men
