I'm glad you enjoyed your experience The snow fell, the fog turned to steam, the wind picked up speed and the temperature had to be almost 100 degrees in some spots. The roads were all slick and a bit treacherous. But the most frightening thing to me at first was that the wind seemed to pick up steam and even the snow got up in a way that it was blowing
We dont get much snow really in the UK due to the gulf stream, thought Vancouver was the same due to being near the sea, but forgot that BC is nowhere near the gulf stream.
Long-lasting snow and frigid winter temperatures aren't very common here either; Vancouver is actually pretty similar to most cities of the UK (except drier in summer.) Most Vancouver snow doesn't stay long because of the rain and (usually) above freezing temps. The BC Coast is tempered by the *North Pacific Current,* which is basically a Pacific version of the Gulf Stream that keeps winter relatively mild (by Canadian standards at least.) However, sometimes an arctic air mass flows to the coast in what’s known as an *"arctic outflow.”* Our monthly averages in the coldest months are 7C (Dec) 7C (Jan) and 8C (Feb) I'd *love* to get back to normal winter temperatures. The rest of Canada isn't so lucky with the winter weather. I've only seen three other White Christmases in my lifetime (1996, 1998 & 2008)
Meanwhile Toronto has no snow on the ground and Montreal has just a small amount. Usually both those cities are covered in snow by now. What's going on?

First weather is very intensified nowadays, second arctic outflow loves moving west instead of east

I think we had more in Nanaimo.
Please give the name of the streets in Vancover BC
Does it snow every year in Vancouver ?
no
I still cringe thinking about the time I had to head to North Van...it started snowing hard when I was around Boundary downhill to Grandview
your vehicle is winter-ready, mine is 4x4 with new set of snow tires
