    i got my first real pc last year. after trying a cheap airsoft version 10 years ago with the plastic filler plates i was totally put off. the thing didnt breath at all, and even tightened down, it would bash me in the chin constantly. especially when kneeling.
    fast forward to last year. i picked up a combat systems pc and filled it with slightly weighted plates from travail fitness. could not be happier! naturally it has some added weight compared to the mini rig i usually run, but the mesh and padding breath exceptionally well. and the plates arent full weight, but have enough to make hold the pc down and fit correctly. plus they are curved on the x and y axis so they fit very comfortably. with the foam padding on the back and they also fill the pc properly. the pc also has those swift clips, and man is it easy to pop that thing off at the end of the day. highly recommend this set up.

    The ferro slickster is around $160 and is an excellent carrier. Slickster makes excellent gear. The spiritus lv119 can also be had under $200 and is excellent

    Thanks for the great vid as always man, ever think about doing a video where you show us your load-out and how it compares to airsoft? Or just two separate videos going through them both?

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Posting a video about what equipment I use at work would be a violation of my department's social media policy. The setups are certainly very similar. The main differences are that at work I wear a helmet, have plates in my armor and carry "flash bangs". The position of my reloads is the same. The set up of my team rifle is very similar to my ICS Captain.

    I got lucky with my AWS OCPC at $160 two years ago. You're right about the price gouging going on. Nice video.

    Good video. Those foam pads they sent with it are just extra little trauma pads. Just a little more foam to put behind your armor to help absorb energy

    Nice! Is WAS's own tube system cross-compatible with the First Spear tubes?

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, but they function the same way. There are MANY knock-offs of First Spear's tubes at this point.

    Looking at EOD-GEAR they seem two have to SKUs for the same LPC. V1 and V1-MK1, any idea what the difference is? Don't see anything listed on the website other than a $35 price increase for the MK1...

    I wonder if the WAS Quick Release Speed Clips cummerbund would work on the WAS Recon PC. Do they even sell the cummerbund separateley?

    • @Joe-zr9pu
      @Joe-zr9pu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      EOD gear has the quick release cummerbund but its just the cummerbund, you can look at beez combat or defense mechanisms for some quick release cummerbunds

    On a real set up what size carrier and plates you run? I’m 5’10” 190lbs with a stocky build and running medium sapi in a small carrier.

      I am 5'08, 205 lbs and I typically wear medium carrier and standard swimmer cut plates (10"x12"). However I prefer a smaller carrier.

    Any thoughts on Horizontal Velcro Mag Pouch from Warrior or any other manufacturer? How do you like Drop Down Velcro Utility Pouch from Warrior?

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have any first hand experience with them but I don't see any significant advantage to mounting magazines sideways. It may be a hair faster but the speed of your reload is very rarely a deciding factor in any engagement. But if you like the concept don't let my opinion dissuade you. Gear is very personal.

    I’m trying to find the actual size the cumberbund is, the carrier and plate sizes are the same for medium and large for the WAS LPC but I’m still trying to find out the difference of the cumberbund sizing…

      I would just call the manufacturer.

    • @TaterGrabbinBass

      @@GunfatherMilsim ya I ended up contacting Warrior Assault Systems and giving them my measurements and they recommended a size Large. The plate bags are the same on both the Medium and Large and it’s really just the cumberbund. I’ve ordered the carrier and now I’m waiting for it to show up. The majority of the reasons you purchased are the reasons I got one. I have a friend who has a Crye JPC 2.0 and a LBT carrier and as much as I liked the JPC and the way it fit it was missing a lot of comfort. I did try on a Haley Strategics Thorax plate carrier because they are local and a buddy of mine works next to them and knows a lot of those guys and if that carrier wasn’t $400+ I would have got one of those. But I think I’ll be happy with the Warrior carrier and I got a good deal on it so I “pulled the trigger” and bought it.
      Can you tell me what plates you have?
      Thanks for the video, it actually really helped me with the decision, so thank you! Have a great day and stay safe! ✌🏼

      @@TaterGrabbinBass I was using a set of lvl III polyurethane ones I purchased about six years ago. I couldn't tell you the brand, and honestly it isn't important. Just buy a good set of polyurethane ones that are rated to your liking.
      I recently switched this PC to my main airsoft/milsim rig so I dropped the poly plates and switched to a set of IIIA soft armor plates from TAG. Necessary for airsoft? No. But they fill the plate pocket nicely and add a little bit of weight.

      @@GunfatherMilsim Hey, why did you change this PC to milsim? Because you got something better or just like the way it feels?

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@007TheStfu007 I really liked the comfort level. FWIW I had to switch this vest back over to range duty for work. I have been using my LBT Armatus 2 for milsim lately. The Warrior Assault Systems is far superior to the Armatus 2 on all fronts as it can do both jobs. The Armatus 2 is not appropriate for real steel range use IMO.

    How is the Hyperlon shoulder straps holding up that’s the only thing that worries me

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had this plate carrier for over two years. I wear it daily while teaching with plates in it. That is daily use on an outdoor range. If you check out my FB page or IG account I just posted some photos of it as I just wore it for the Murph. The Hyperlon is still in perfect condition. In fact the entire plate carrier is in perfect condition. There are sweat stains I can't wash out and a few stitches came out on the velcro to the built in admin pocket on the chest. That is it. I actually just ordered another PC in green not to replace this one but to use in addition to this one. Buy with confidence, this is simply the most comfortable and durable PC I have ever owned.

      @@GunfatherMilsim ok cool appreciate the reply another question what’s the big difference between the laser cut and the regular one

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TheJoeml85 I had First Spear, laser cut plate carrier that was issued to me on SWAT. We were really excited about the laser cut when we got it but within two years we all hated it. The laser cut Cordura would separate from the velcro plate and sag. By the time we replaced them at the end of their five year warranty they were barely serviceable. I will never buy a laser cut plate carrier based on that experience.

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  3 ปีที่แล้ว
