We Indonesian people call it "Bakwan". But we don't boil the cabbage first. We simply mix the sliced cabbage, water, and the flour (egg is optional). We add carrots too sometimes. It tastes yummy indeed. One of my favorite dish of all time.

I just learned the AMAZING trick of freezing a whole cabbage overnight....when it defrosts the leaves are WILTED, which makes it super easy to peel and use the leaves as wrappers for "egg roll" type yummies, instead of regular wheat egg roll wrappers. ALSO...if you want to slice it while it's defrosting, it's really easy to slice into slabs that can be pan-fried and topped with an egg or not...SUCH a good trick...
Love this info!!! I wonder if cabbage would be easier for sauerkraut if it had been frozen. May need to try this. Learned from You Tube posts how to make sauerkraut. My then 95 year young dad was SO happy. He loved sauerkraut and one regret was he had never gotten his father's recipe. After we tried my first batch, he was SO excited that it was his childhood memory. He added it to nearly everything. From then it became our shared making of it. So glad I made him happy.

Жарить сначала на большом огне для получения корочки, потом уменьшить, чтобы все пропеклось. Если все сделать правильно, ощущение, что едите куриные котлетки.

I just made this. And when I tell you, it’s good. Plus, I added Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. This taste just like a nice Spring Roll but without the roll. I call it fried cabbage bites. This will be made often.
Looks delicious. Instead of using a lot of water to boil the cabbage and drain out all the vitamins just the right amount of water to boil the cabbage where the water dries up in the pan and all the nutrients are not wasted. It will taste better too . Will definitely try the recipe. Thanks

Thank you for this recipe. I replaced the vegetable oil with butter (doctors orders), and removed the garlic (allergies), and the recipe turned out quite nice. My family wanted more flavour, so next time, I added diced bacon to the mix, and they loved it. Thanks again for sharing.
I saved your video a few weeks ago and am making this dish tonight as part of my family's holiday meal. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I've been making something similar with grated potato for decades, but I much prefer cabbage to potato! So happy to have the option.

My family cook this but we add finely diced fried bacon and grated potato. Everything else is the same however your yoghurt sauce looks so delicious. I must try this. 🇦🇺🦘🦋

The same recipe but I cook them in the oven keeping the shape of the patties( with a little olive oil sprinkled on top).Much lighter and easier than frying. Very delicious😃😃

I love cabbage, but never cooked it this way. It is kind of like a hashbrown, but much less carbs than potatoes. I am sure I will love this dish and thanks for adding the recipe for that wonderful sauce!! Your way of presenting the dish is also very nice. @@Britonbear I have the idea not to cook the cabbage. Maybe soak it for like 10 minutes in water and then mix all the ingredients together and either bake it in the oven or go ahead and fry it, but I would think that it would retain the nutrients better, and it also might taste more delicious if the cabbage isn't mushy.

What a great little recipe, and so easy to follow. I do this with cauliflower, and it’s equally delicious. As a Pole, I make Polish Kartoflane Placki, i.e. potato pancakes, and this delicious cabbage recipe of yours will add extra variety to my other recipes. I’m sure it will make the family happy. The potato pancakes are delicious with sour cream and chives, but if you don’t add onion or chives, they are yummy with brown sugar on top. @@astralmindny9055 Hello Astralmind! Many years ago my father grew so many cauliflowers that I decided to make a type of pancake out it. I boil a not too large whole cauliflower till it’s cooked but still a little firm. I let it cool down. I place the cauliflower int a mixing bowlI then mash it, but not too fine because I like it a little chunky. Next I add two tablespoons of what we call Plain Flour in Australia and I add two eggs and salt to taste. I don’t add grated onion, but sometimes I add a couple of cloves of grated or finely chopped garlic. I add fine virgin olive oil to a medium sized frypan. Don’t have the heat too high as it will brown too quickly. I use a tablespoon of the mix and fry till golden brown on both sides on a medium heat. As you cook it more often, you can make a few adjustments to your ingredients because it depends on the size of the cauliflower. I’m one of those cooks that rarely uses a recipe unless of course I’m actually trying something new. I look forward to your recipes and thank you for the offer. As a Polish Australian, I cook quite a few Polish foods, but everything is from memory, just as as my mother did. Cheers!
I do the same thing with cauliflower, but I separate the egg yolks and whipp the egg whites and then mix all together. I believe your recipe is very delicious. I’ll definitely try it. You are very talented cook.
😎👍 Thank you. I tried your cabbage patties. Delicious!! Instead of eggs I used a bit of oil and corn starch to hold the patty together, and added minced tomatoes and chicken breast. Tasted exactly like a spring roll…. no more store bought spring rolls for me. This was easy and delicious!! 😋
We used this recipe and are very pleased with the outcome. Simple, inexpensive, nutritious, and delicious! We added grated carrot to the mixture before cooking the patties.

This looks absolutely delicious and easy to make. I love cabbage and to me that is a hearty enough dish to be used as a main course if you want to have a meatless dinner I'm going to try this
To me though I just don't know why anybody would want to have a meatless dinner. Without the meat in it I'd be hungry in 30 minutes. I would cook some grass-fed beef in a separate pan. You know ground beef,.. and then I would mix it together after draining the oil off, with the cabbage, flour concoction, and then either bake it in the oven or fry it,.. but I think that would make a complete meal and give you some satisfaction. You could actually even add some rice to the cabbage dish with the meat and it would really be good of course you'd have to pre-cook the rice too. 🤔

I don't want to have to go meatless. But I do like cabbage. But vegetarian?! Vegan 😳. Having to go without me is to me economic depression. Только я немного отклонилась от рецепта, взяла куркуму вместо красного перца, т.к его у меня не было, и лука я добавила как минимум в два раза меньше, для меня 2 головки лука это очень много. Almost identical to potato pancakes (latke, baluzza, however they're spelled) but using cabbage instead. Can't wait to try them! Also excellent with sour cream!

It's called "bakwan goreng" here in Indonesia. But we usually don't add eggs in it, instead we add carrots to make it have sweet flavor and make it looks more beautiful.
We usually make the same recipe with the uncooked shredded potatoes instead of cabbage. Definitely will try this version, looks yummy . Thank you for the tip .
In Japan, there are dishes similar to this dish. It's "okonomiyaki" A mixture of cabbage, flour, eggs, water, meat and shrimp is baked in a frying pan.

My family cook this but we add finely diced fried bacon and grated potato. Everything else is the same however your yoghurt sauce looks so delicious. I must try this. 🇦🇺🦘🦋

The same recipe but I cook them in the oven keeping the shape of the patties( with a little olive oil sprinkled on top).Much lighter and easier than frying. Very delicious😃😃

Капуста с яйцом всегда вкусное сачетание. Я так же готовлю. ❤ В советское время во всех кулинариях продавались катлетки из капусты, морковки, свёклы, картошки. Мои любимые из капусты. Сейчас пост и они (без яиц, но с манкой) в самый раз. Но очень хочется мясных катлеток.

I love cabbage, but never cooked it this way. It is kind of like a hashbrown, but much less carbs than potatoes. I am sure I will love this dish and thanks for adding the recipe for that wonderful sauce!! Your way of presenting the dish is also very nice. It makes me want to make this for my family and have them all over to eat this. I am sure they will love it!!!

@@Britonbear I have the idea not to cook the cabbage. Maybe soak it for like 10 minutes in water and then mix all the ingredients together and either bake it in the oven or go ahead and fry it, but I would think that it would retain the nutrients better, and it also might taste more delicious if the cabbage isn't mushy.

What a great little recipe, and so easy to follow. I do this with cauliflower, and it’s equally delicious. As a Pole, I make Polish Kartoflane Placki, i.e. potato pancakes, and this delicious cabbage recipe of yours will add extra variety to my other recipes. I’m sure it will make the family happy. I have added this to my recipe file. Well done! Thank you. Greetings from a Polish Australian. P.S. The potato pancakes are delicious with sour cream and chives, but if you don’t add onion or chives, they are yummy with brown sugar on top. My Mum used to do this on occasion when we had a craving for something sweet. Unusual? Yes! But then again, it’s all a matter of taste, I suppose. Cheers!

How do you make it with Cauliflower? Well...... How do you cut it? I have a nice buffalo Cauliflower recipe for you, and a curry eggplant recipe.
@@astralmindny9055 Hello Astralmind! Many years ago my father grew so many cauliflowers that I decided to make a type of pancake out it. I boil a not too large whole cauliflower till it’s cooked but still a little firm. I let it cool down. I place the cauliflower int a mixing bowlI then mash it, but not too fine because I like it a little chunky. Next I add two tablespoons of what we call Plain Flour in Australia and I add two eggs and salt to taste. I don’t add grated onion, but sometimes I add a couple of cloves of grated or finely chopped garlic. I add fine virgin olive oil to a medium sized frypan. Don’t have the heat too high as it will brown too quickly. I use a tablespoon of the mix and fry till golden brown on both sides on a medium heat. As you cook it more often, you can make a few adjustments to your ingredients because it depends on the size of the cauliflower. I’m one of those cooks that rarely uses a recipe unless of course I’m actually trying something new. I look forward to your recipes and thank you for the offer. As a Polish Australian, I cook quite a few Polish foods, but everything is from memory, just as as my mother did. Cheers!

I do the same thing with cauliflower, but I separate the egg yolks and whipp the egg whites and then mix all together. I believe your recipe is very delicious. I’ll definitely try it. You are very talented cook.

This looks absolutely delicious and easy to make. I love cabbage and to me that is a hearty enough dish to be used as a main course if you want to have a meatless dinner I'm going to try this

To me though I just don't know why anybody would want to have a meatless dinner.
Without the meat in it I'd be hungry in 30 minutes.
I would cook some grass-fed beef in a separate pan. You know ground beef,.. and then I would mix it together after draining the oil off, with the cabbage, flour concoction, and then either bake it in the oven or fry it,.. but I think that would make a complete meal and give you some satisfaction.
You could actually even add some rice to the cabbage dish with the meat and it would really be good of course you'd have to pre-cook the rice too. 🤔
@@tamitatangoto5134 I agree. I lived in Thailand for a while and absolutely loved the food. But I had to eat constantly. But if I have to go meatless, this would be a good option. I don't want to have to go meatless. But I do like cabbage. But vegetarian?! Vegan 😳. Having to go without me is to me economic depression. But if I just don't want to fall anything and I don't want to go through the 30-minute drive to the grocery store...

*Приготовила и поняла, что это же наши оладьи, только овощные, а именно капустные)) Готовьте, это вкусно даже без соуса. Думаю, что вместо соуса можно взять просто сметану и добавить в неё укроп. Только я немного отклонилась от рецепта, взяла куркуму вместо красного перца, т.к его у меня не было, и лука я добавила как минимум в два раза меньше, для меня 2 головки лука это очень много. Сохраню рецепт, буду готовить так ещё*

It's called "bakwan goreng" here in Indonesia. But we usually don't add eggs in it, instead we add carrots to make it have sweet flavor and make it looks more beautiful.
