I first started finger boarding the same year I first started skating, in 1997. Tech decks didn't exist yet and I first used some clear plastic finger board. I remember how excited I was when tech decks hit the stores, I think around 1998 or 1999. I got very good at it, but unfortunately when I stopped skating in 2006 I also stopped finger boarding as well. I recently decided to get a bit back into skateboarding at the age of 38, and naturally ordered some tech decks as well. Still waiting for them to arrive. @@deactivated3522 it I am here to inform you that my skate board was just above 200$ I am dumbfounded that little miniature skate boards are so expensive
Been reshaping TechDecks for so long, it's the best cheap alternative to buying a pro setup if you're tight on budget. Plus, if you're upgrading your tape too, you can just use the TD tape to rehape the deck. Further saves you money (assuming you don't have sandpaper lying around at home). As for the wheels, if you can find any homies that has the performance series TD wheels, try buying it off them for cheap, or they might just give it to you. They don't have bearings, but they're a whole lot better than the cheaper TD wheels.
Bought some teak tuning bushings after watching the. 2 of each style cause they were on sale for around 3 bucks a pop. They're all amazing and I can't imagine going back to basic bushings anymore.
I used to fingerboard years ago just for fun, nothing serious. I have to say man, you have an astoundingly professional channel here. Creativity on every single video. Great energy. Great attitude. Keep it up buddy!
I snagged a teck deck pro (not performance) for a little over $20 earlier in the month from amazon. I'm 99% sure the pricing was a mistake because it only lasted a couple hours at most and wasn't a lightning deal. My guess is that they meant to discount a performance board and accidentally did it to the pro listing instead. I know they're nothing special, but considering theyre $70 without a discount and $50 otherwise (the plan B one is pretty much always on sale for 48) I thought it was a steal.
Yes, this is the case for the newer Tech Decks. I still have a whole bunch from the 90's and those decks are just not it. Dimensions are way off. Most of the times I go out, I'm taking my tech deck with me. I can pop it everywhere I want without having the feeling of destroying/losing my $100 setup that I'd normally use inside.
love this. I agree, stay on a tech deck for a few months tune it a little bit, & when youg et on a deck with nice pop, you'll be stunned at what you're capable of. (depends on what you learn on the tech deck though lmao)
you can reshape your tech deck truck even better with sandpaper: make it looks like the shape of pro truck! you can use sanding tool or just a small piece of sandpaper (pretty hard and take a whole time)
If you want to be even cheaper use graphite powder lubricant used on pinewood derby cars on any standard plastic wheel. It makes them roll as good as bearings…. The hot wheels, mod community has been doing this trick forever and it makes a dramatic difference on the rollability. One tube of graphite powder will literally do hundreds of tech decks lol. You simply work the powder into the wheel on the truck. You can watch hot wheels mod videos to get other tips to apply it like using ipa mixture. It is highly effective though on stock tech decks and hot wheels skate..
This I done with all my tech decks…😅 But I don’t think that it’s worth to reshape the trucks at least if you didn’t have the right Powertools for that and even with it tools so long that it’s just not worth the time you spend on that… I do it meanwhile to 3 tech deck truck sets, 2 32mm an 1 29mm… So yeah it’s kind of fun for some people like me but in the end I wouldn’t recommend that cause the trucks are just not worth that kind of effort… Cheap but good single axis trucks cost just 5-15$ and to work on one pair of TD trucks costs at least 30min-1h, so for my taste it’s just not worth the time you spend… But if you are hard on budget, have already the tools for that and fun on handcrafting you can do this for sure but after I already done it 3 times i wouldn’t do it again and wouldn’t recommend that at all… Just imagine, you spend hours on reshaping the trucks and just after one session one of the axis comes loose like on any TD truck at some time, that would be very frustrating and so I would just recommend to buy a pair of trucks and just be happy…🙂
