    This topic of statistics was incredibly confusing to me, but this one video has helped me understand completely! Thank you so much :)

    This is weird. On the Casio FX 9750Giii it has a different input screen. There is no lower and upper bound option. You have X:Numtrial:P:Save Res:Execute. So this problem is not workable on my Casio based on the screen you have here. Casio prides itself on all their graphing calculators having the same keystrokes for the same problem. However, here they fail. I redid this several times to make sure I hadn't made a mistake.

      Yes I had noticed the same recently when doing this with a group of students.

    Hi, thank you for all the brilliant videos. Can you help me with the following question?
    A study shows that 0.9% of a population of over 4,000,000 carries a virus. Find the smallest sample from the population so that the probability of the sample having no carriers is less than 0.4.
    This is an example in the oxford textbook. I am really struggling to apply these steps with this question. Thank you.

      @@melvinfernandes4352 X refers to the discrete random variable. B is a reference that the distribution being Binomial. P means probability and is followed by a bracket (parenthesis ) describing the event you want the probability for. Bpd is Binomial Probability Distribution which refers to individual values for X, Bcd is Binomial Cumulative Distribution which refers to probabilities up to and including the value of X.

    The cg 50 instruction manual is worse than awful.

      +Lesser Spotted Mugwump - Really? It seems to cover all the built-in functionality fairly well, apart from the Python mode where some familiarity with Python is assumed. (Also, the Python mode is a bit limited at the moment in what it can do, but I digress.) If you think the Casio fx-CG50 manual is bad, you should take a look at the abysmal effort that went in to the TI-Nspire manuals, which are basically a "Getting Started" guide plus a function reference arranged alphabetically.

      To withdraw money from a cash machine, the user has to enter a 4 digit PIN.But a survey found 10% of cash machine users use PIN '1234'
      16 cash machine users are selected at random
      Find the probability that exactly 3 of them use 1234 as their PIN

      Your distribution is X ~ B(16,0.1)
      Go to 2:STAT, then DIST, BINOMIAL , Bpd , F2 for Var.
      Data: Variable
      x = 3
      Numtrial 16
      p = 0.1
      Press EXE. Should give the result. Hopefully you can see where all the figures have come from
