I have just finished the herb/mine component of this method ~ nearly level 78. Takeaways - phial of truesight is a must, also get pact of the weaver for gathering speed increase.
With the next patch changing multicraft and resourcefulness, you might wat to get an extra 300 AA to get two blue tools, one for res, one for multi. Also,. I found mining and herbing totally soul-destroying. It took many, many hours. I topped it up with skinning, which I found to be quicker for AA, and a reasonablr amount of gold. Also, assuming an alt has leatherworking, you can craft your own blues to DE for shimmering dust. Just a couple of thoughts. Extremely useful video this.
For the shimmering dust you get it 100% of the time while you still have them remaining if you DE epics so you can buy the darkmoon decks and disenchant them if you want to spend a little gold
Thanks for your videos!! really helps new players getting into making gold. My Deepgrove roots never seem to go green, even though im level 35 in Herbalism already, and also handed in the weekly quest at the trainer. I've tried everything :(
Kaychak, I would consider using the Kej KP boost from the spinner vendor rather than the 400 Acuity book just to give more leeway to acuity profession recipes for whatever the final crafter end state is aimed at making.
One thing id like to add to the Disenchanting part it seems like purple items gives a 100% drop chance for the shimmering dusts, iv been using darkmoon decks by combining the cards (should be 90-130g per deck on eu right now)
On my server/region its a bit more expensive (25g per card for the cheapest deck, so like 200g per deck), but I was able to catch-up 63 KP for like 12k gold total. Great deal, great comment, thanks for the tip!
While this is a pretty cool way to get a lot of Acuity, the knowledge point catchup for non-gathering/enchanting professions is still pretty miserable (its via patron orders so its both expensive and timegated). The difference between how easy it is to catchup for gathering/enchanting compared to crafting professions is just wild in general. Another problem with this is that you can't do this on a character you've already invested in (if you have recipes bought with gold/acuity, you lose them if you drop the profession).
100% agree that the catch up for crafting professions is miserable, they should at least make it so glimmers can potentially give more knowledge if the patreon order is expensive.
@@kaychak807 yeah, or they could spawn a ton more patron orders with the catchup currency. There's nothing stopping them from giving the player like 50+ orders at the same time instead of 10 or whatever it is atm. I honestly find it weird that CATCHUP orders require rank 2 (at least for alchemy they do) - like, if it's a catchup system, its meant to be easy, no? that's the whole point, why rank 2? Many easy ways they can tweak this
You can’t lose gold mining and herbing, you can defiantly lose gold by crafting. This strategy is great for getting you mining to a stage where it can make a lot more gold.
Are you meant to do the herbing, mining and enchanting no matter what profession you want to do? Is it too late to catch up on knowledge and acuity if if I'm already 50 skill in inscription?
You can catch up but I would probably suggest doing enchanting and skinning in a group farm at the moment. I just started a herb and mining catchup character and it seems to have been needed, drop rate seems terrible and others have said the same.
Which Profession suits the best for this? I have the feeling that mostly weapons are requested. Many cloth and leather items arent BIS so they arent needed. Am i wrong?
My current gold making crafter is alchemy / enchanting. I am behind on my tools due to Acuity. I can see the first part being beneficial, but since my points are spent, I don’t suppose I can benefit from enchanting? Is there a workaround to this? Any other prof to substitute?
Hey Kaychak, worthit currently says farming cloth/inscription is the best GP per hour. Please can you do a build for farming mats with those professions? Thank you very much
I havnt done any of that sort of farming this expansion so I wont do a video about it, as I’ll only talk about what I have good expertise in. I don’t want to just pretend I know what I’m talking about.
Would it be worth it to do this even if i have 2 of the professions i want on that char at lvl 100 and have 1 blue tool in each with 70-80 kp? Still kinda feels worth it just to get all tools, all books and so on. Feeling extremely starved for AA all the time on all my alts. Edit; What happens to my tools for the professions that i unlearn ? I could store them in my bags no problem i guess? Also, what happens to the KP i had before? I guess its gone but crafting the items again would give 1 kp each, right?
Dropping a profession loses you recipes you know and your profession skill level. Knowledge stays the same and gear will get dumped into your backpacks. Sucks having a character will 2 professions this expansion 😞
You should do enchanting patron orders before all the first time crafts as those orders will be first time crafts. Doing it the other way requires more crafts. Also, skinning is easier imo than herb or mining as you can skin in pretty much one spot with a little trick (I can share that trick if you like).
You are 100% right about the enchanting patreon orders. The skinning thing can be better. I'm on a low population server, so can't easily just go to bee area and skin other people's kills, and have terrible gear so can't get into farming groups. I imagine for a lot of players it could be better but defiantly not for me.
My god, I didn't know you had to do the gathering weekly to get the catch-up knowledge. No wonder my gathering alt seemed so far behind on knowledge, built it last week with the null stone weekly & refused to spend that much, plus I didn't remember to hand in till later in the week.

Yo kaychak, been watching some time now, still not sure what i wanna do on my main or my alt. New to AH and this stuff, i have mining and blacksmithing, pretty sure i botched the blacksmithing tree nodes. Mining i put so i can mine while still mounted and then going for bismuth. I saw the m+ profession video and im wondering if you think i should do this catch up on my main and switch to alchemy maybe? Cause i dont get anything from blacksmithing gold wise and alchemy seems like it can still get me some gold on the side. And focus on enchanting on my main. would love some tips. Everything is so expensive on ah, or i might just go herb and mining and just farm mats and sell on AH. Any thoughts?
On any "main" character I would do alchemy purely because it can save you huge amounts of gold over the expansion if your going to be using flasks regularly, see this video if you haven't already th-cam.com/video/SHUTZg856DI/w-d-xo.html Mining and herbing is solid too but you could also just set that up on an alt and use that whenever you want to farm. If your not going to dedicated time to just farming with mining and herbing and just mean picking up herbs as you fly around doing other stuff then it's probably not worth it.
It's hard to say exactly as I was doing a lot of this whilst doing other stuff on multiple accounts more of the time so not really concentrating on it. It is time consuming though, I think I got to level 75-76 in total.
