Shhhhh... let him keep the BOCA image a little longer... SuA in a white dress, frolicking innocently in the water with her ethereal vocals... so calm and peaceful!
Piri really is kinda depressing, probably cause it's supposed to be about people wanting to escape from the loneliness and anxiety caused by modern society. The Piri is a sort of traditional Korean flute, by the way, blowing the Piri is like, sending a sign asking for help. Breaking Out did ok I think, but Endless Night performed much better, they were even supposed to go on Japanese promotions but were stopped by the pandemic. SuA is... an unique... individual. Ok, Dreamcatcher is full of chaotic weirdos 😂😂 that's part of why we love them tho. Oh, this is getting long, love your reactions, bye!
Not much for a vocal coach, but as an Somnie, you should totally see mera's "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher". It will give you insight into a (possible) meaning of Breaking Out - mera tells you all about the nightmare they finally seem to be breaking out of.
is sua crazy? i don't think that's nearly enough to describe her personality, she's definitely the loudest :D i was definitely excited seeing the choice of songs for this one! both are in my top 5 favourite title tracks and it's the songs that i enjoyed the most immediately on first listen pretty much. piri is the song that got me into them and breaking out was basically my first comeback (depending on how you look at it it's that or deja vu, but i kind of think of this as the first one). also it's really nice to see someone who just discovered them recently appreciate handong, the longer she's away the more i'm worried about how the new fans will welcome her back, but it seems there's nothing to worry about
You are so close to the B-sides. That's where their versatility really shows and you'll see how superior their "mainstream" genre sounds are. Think you'll enjoy most of em. Queens of the B-sides 🤘😎
Yeah... Their B-side is literally gold. Not to mention their ballad song is superior too. And they sang some of their B-side live too on radios or shows.
I like listening to Korean songs better, and I feel a little uncomfortable listening to Japanese songs. When I first listened to Breaking Out, I was concerned about that, but it was okay because Dreamcatcher, my top favorite K-pop group, sang it and sounded less awkward. Thanks for your nice reaction.
Breaking Out is also the start of their "Rock + other genre" songs And yes, PIRI is literally "The End of Nightmare" cause that's the title of the album
Also as a Handong bias I am glad you show love to her! I want more and more of her music. She has her own special clip. Also yes, SuA is hella crazy. But in the good way
If you don't count Izone, but since they were put together to perform in both countries back and forth from the beginning. But yea Dreamcatcher also does unique songs for their Japanese releases.
mixplit74 I like Izone songs, too. Not as DC that much though😄 I love TWICE and all of their songs, but I cant get used to their Japanese ver songs translated from Korean ver. Dreamcatcher’s Japanese ver songs (chase me,good night, piri, what) just like the way it should be . Sorry for my bad English
Loving your reactions to my favorite group of all time. These girl's music and determination helped me to get through my divorce and pull me out of a deep depression. Keep up the good work.
Piri is supposed to be the end because it's part of the mini-abum "The end of Nightmare", but InSomnias always have theories about Breaking Out being part of it anyway. We love making theories about everything, including their game OSTs (Déjà Vu and R.o.S.E Blue) honestly. R.o.S.E Blue btw, wasn't produced at all by their usual composers, DC is just singing it because I heard that someone, the one who made the song I think, was a fan of Dreamcatcher and decided to have them do this game OST. So it's not really a very DC like kind of song, though, it's still quite beautiful instrumental and vocal wise, though not quite as dramatic and impactful of a song as Déjà Vu if that makes sense. And no, Breaking Out wasn't successful, I guess you could say it kinda flopped. Japanese tend to like the songs way more hardcore when it comes to rock. If it was in Korean and there were more money put into the MV, I think it would have done well in Korea. But it was too soft for a Japanese release. Endless Night, their second Japanese release, on the other hand is a classic metal kind of song, so they love it naturally. They gained also quite a few metalheads fans because of it too. Most reactors nowadays of DC are metalheads lol I'm really glad your reactions will be a little bit more thorough in the future, either way I wouldn't have minded, but since you are a vocal coach it would be a shame not to have a more thorough critic. Play to your strength and all that (~˘▾˘)~ Also, if you're going to listen to their b-sides next, probably in album order, then remember to check if they have special videos for them please (>人
VOD s still available! until November 3, 2020 @ 11:00 AM KST I think one of the reasons why Breaking Out was not successful during the release was because the time diff between that release and the release of Raid of Dreams was so short, like only a week I think. and the anticipation for Raid of Dreams was so high
A plausible theory i've observed (from reading over many theories) is that *Piri* is the end of the nightmare era, as the *bad ending* where the girls are subjected to 'the nightmare' forever (Also *Piri* is the title track of the album called 'The End of Nightmare') - At this point in the storyline Yoohyeon is trapped (the events of You and I would explain this, and Fly High shows what Yoohyeon did in the beginning of the story to get this punishment) So basically the girls heard Yoohyeon's call, the Piri. And came to try and save her, here they faced nightmares, and each girl were eventually kidnapped, by Yoohyeon (It's hard to notice, but the hands you see grabbing the other members are Yoohyeon's). This is why from the bridge to the end of the song, we see them all together in the same room we see Yoohyeon in at the beginning. We then see them hold hands and the lights go out, they are all trapped forever, facing 'the nightmare', the song even ending with the same ominous whistle melody. Nothing has changed, they couldn't save Yoohyeon, and they got trapped themselves, the nightmare still rules them, forever. So the song resolves the same way it started.... with the sound of the piri. - And then because *Breaking Out* was Japan's title track introduction to Dreamcatcher it is an alternate ending to the nightmare era, a *good ending.* (Hense the album name "Beginning of the End", the beginning for Japan, but the end of the nightmare era.) -where... well, they make it through, they beat the nightmare, you see scenes such as Siyeon literally subjected to her representative nightmare - Being trapped in a small space. and towards the end of the song she pushes back the wall that was once closing in on her. And once again, just like at the end of Piri, the girls all hold eachother's hands, surpassing the red strings of fate. And alongside this, the song itself communicates a closure that is satisfying and honest.
We all love Dongie, and can't wait for her to get back to her girls... hopefully very soon... A piri is a Korean instrument, often referred to as a flute, but it's actually a reed instrument. I think there are a few variants, but the kind this refers to was often used in olden times much like westerners might use a horn; either as a call to action, or in this case, a cry for help. They seem to be suggesting that the piri here (I've heard a piri that sounded kinda like that blast at the beginning) is to guide them toward each other, so they can be together again... Breaking out is actually a Japanese-original track; so far they haven't done a Korean version yet. And as far as I'm aware, none of them are fluent in Japanese; they've all learned some from when they've done promos there, but I think Siyeon is the only one actively learning the language.
I recommend "mayday" live vers. (Dreamcatcher 7 + insomnia fan band) P.s : My morning alarm song is DC's song "Wake up" Alarm song before sleeping is DC's "lullaby" Normal alarms are DC's "I miss you" and "Tension" "Jazz bar"😅
I subscribe to the theory that 'Breaking Out' is the end of the nightmare series ("Bye, bye to this Nightmare") with them finally able to rescue Yoohyeon and escape for good as they're reunited in the last scene. They're known in Japan, but not nearly as popular as I would have expected, given how much more rock is appreciated there 🤷
Loved the beats on both of these! Though the downside with danceable songs is that they're often less impressive vocally. Glad you managed to showcase their talents in your previous videos because they're awesome!
They are doing *pretty well* in Japan. They get to rank on a radio (?) chart at like #1, beating old-time jpop groups like Hey Say Jump and even LiSA for a time. They do manage to chart at Oricon top 10 (9 for Endless Night-latest, 8 for Breaking Out).
Great reaction and analysis! I know you enjoy live vocals more and dreamcatcher has a live vocal with a band. Song is called mayday. I hope you can react to that!
If the group is fluent enough and good, japanese versions sounds amazing in my opinion. Since I'm not native in korean, english, or japanese (which I speak a little), I focus more on the feeling that gives. So far, DC versions sounds pretty good and the japanese releases are some of their best tracks. Breaking Out to me is like the real end of the Nightmare series. Like they managed to escape. All the songs after that, belong to the new series or are game related.
I feel the same way about japanese releases, but with Dreamcatcher, I like all of their japanese songs, original and re-release. I'd like to mention the japanese version of Deja Vu, which for some reason feels more heavy emotionally for me, I don't know why 😅
Sir Austin! Loving the rapid DC reaction contents from you! Piri is kinda like the Korean version of a flute. Also, you're right.. Piri was Gahyeon's first attempt at rap. All of us Insomnias were shocked when her rap line came in. Not complaining though! She's getting better and better at it with each come back. Really looking forward to your reaction on the solo covers from all the girls. Cheers and stay safe!
I was going to suggest Wanna Stan Dreamcatcher? The Ultimate 2020 Dreamcatcher Guide, but you seem to know the girls. You could watch it to get to know more about their personalities. And as read somewhere before, Dodging Disbandment And Other Extreme Sports. A History Of Dreamcatcher by Mera is a great video to know the history and ups and downs of them.
I really laughed out loud when you said 'choir girl' at the end of the PIRI. I've never thought in that way. And as lots of comments explain, PIRI(피리) is Korean traditional instrument, which is similar to the flute. It makes a sound exactly same as "Pil-lil-lil-lil-lily" and the whistling sound on the background(of course that sound wasn't played by PIRI)
So glad more people are recognizing Dreamcatcher. There is another group I really like with an amazing vocalist. (Fromis_9) park jiwon- I’ll never love again (lady Gaga cover). I think you would really like it.
Breaking out in my opinion is the end of the nightmare series, where you could see they managed to be together again.. Plus Breaking out album is titled The beginning of the end, so I guess that speaks for itself.
Most InSomnia said that Breaking Out is an alternative Ending. Which Piri has sad Ending with all of the members are together in the nightmare at the end. And this is like the Happy Ending one, where the all members say goodbamye to the nightmare, which means they are free now.
I love that the fandom is so warm and welcoming and positive and chill. We know fandoms can get very... erm... forceful sometimes 🥵 but I find that Insomnias are very nice people 🥰
If you want to hear some of Handong's beautiful voice (I know line distribution is a little lacking when there's all 7 members present), there's this video of her singing live in Chinese. It starts with a clip of Siyeon covering EXO's song Overdose which is also worth watching as well as a short rap from Dami th-cam.com/video/9U_Gb_En4bQ/w-d-xo.html
It's even more stylized than PIRI but this is the last of the nightmare songs. Notice that it ends upbeat and they've reached out and found each other.
If you want to do more technical reactions and vocal analysis, I'd suggest you check out some of their radio performances. They still use backing vocals, but way more quiet than when they dance on stage, so you can hear their voices very well. I suggest their performance of Trust Me on MBC radio, it's one of my favorite! Thank you for the great content!
I know you've seen Boca but they just did a really good live stage of it and their vocals weren't over processed or drowned out with backing track so it's great to hear them kill it live. Also they sneak in a bunch of fun little heart gestures into their choreo (not sure if it was a dare or they just wanted to give Insomnia a bit of love) th-cam.com/video/iUBibwC_z04/w-d-xo.html
I'm loving all this DC content, I think this is a cool way to analyse Kpop groups, like focusing on one and then another since its not just casual reactions but rather really going in depth with the groups music and vocal/rap skills. Please consider doing the girl group Mamamoo next, they are a very unique group with amazing vocals just like DC, and they have a lot of solo work so you can really go in depth which each four members of the group. Thanks again!!
Agreed. I feel like Insomnias tend to gravitate towards also becoming Moomoos anyways (and vice versa). Might as well start sooner rather than later. :)
@@wydiwy omg right??! I've noticed that also! they go hand in hand imo, they're the most talented GGs in my humble opinion :D. Both groups come from small/er companies and have worked so freakin' hard. They really step outside the box on traditional Kpop and thats what I love most about all the girls. Beautiful visuals, beautiful voices and amazing concepts!
People keep saying that What is underrated, which it is, but that's equally true for Breaking Out. I love that song. P.S.: You kind of forgot to be a little more thorough, lol.
Not sure if someone already mentioned but if you’re interested in hearing some more handong, she has a special clip called “Proof of Heartbeat” where she sings in 3 languages :) Also another one with Gahyeon/Siyeon as well “Every day, Every Moment” which I would recommend ~ Sadly, she doesn’t get a lot of lines but I’m hoping that will change when she comes back ^_^
Sir Austin When I was first getting into dreamcatcher I can relate... even now they just have so much content , Somnias are spoiled haha! It’s really a rabbit hole that once you hop in, there is no getting out ~ Thanks for all your reactions, its fun watching you dive deeper into Dreamcatcher :)
so I just finished watching all of your DC reactions and I loved them all❤ (specialy siyeons's speechless) I know you wanna react to their b-sides now, but since you've mentioned Dami is your favorite in DC I recomend watching their cover of "bang bang bang". Although it's a cover, it has more views than some of their MVs! and I can say it's almost bc of Dami's rap part in it.🔥 sorry for my bad English
Everytime I watch the Piri video I think Siyeon looks like Elsa. I love Siyeon with blonde hair, just as I love her with the black with blue tips in Boca... really I love her in all styles. I love Dami’s short hair in Piri, her blue gradation in Boca.. love all of Dami’s styles actually. Piri abs Breaking out are two of my favs. I have bought their Japanese release (just like I have with Mamamoo and Monsta X) because I use to listen to a lot of Japanese Rock and Japanese pop in high school. So their Japanese songs feed they part of me.I am use to hearing the Korean versions more then then Japanese, but I find it all catchy.
I always said that Japanese releases from Korean groups never work - untill I listened to original songs from BTS and Dreamcatcher (and maybe SHINee back in the day when I was not traumatized). Dreamcatcher's "I Miss You" is really good and latest "Endless Night" is even better. I recommend them 100%. I really wish Handong would get more lines since her voice is so good and unique. But I guess in the group full of talent like Dreamcatcher it is difficult to share the spotlight evenly. For that reason I'm glad she got a chance to showcase her abilities in "Youth With You" - Chinese idol-survival show. Piri is a pipe or flute in Korean. Can't wait for more Dreamcatcher videos from you ^_^
A (hopefully) brief timeline for Dreamcatcher's Nightmare Arc series of videos. Fly High; Shows us how group of boarding school girls were cursed and turned into Nightmares. At the end of the video JiU closes the gates to the hotel grounds, thus trapping the group and the curse within the confines of the hotel. Chase Me and Good Night; A paranormal investigator arrives at a haunted hotel (formerly a boarding school) to investigate, well, paranormal activity. We learn that the hotel is haunted by a group of Nightmares who torment the investigator and at the end free themselves from the hotel by swapping places with the investigator, trapping him in the process. You and I; JiU, our fearless leader, tries to free the girls from the curse. She is successful (or is she?) in freeing all of them but Yoohyeon, who is left kneeling at the portal at the end of the video. What; We see the girls in the real world (or is it?), all except Yoohyeon who keeps appearing in their dreams and as an apparition of sorts. Piri; Yoohyoen, still trapped in the nightmare, uses the piri to call for help. The group comes to rescue her but, in the process, are all re-captured and are all, once again, trapped in the nightmare in the end. Note: Piri, literally translated means 'pipe'. In the context of musical instruments, it has 2 meanings. First, it can be a specific reference to a double reeded Korean flute. It can also be a general reference to any pipe-like wind instrument, such as a pan pipe, a recorder, western style flute or even a carved out animal horn like the one we see on the chair at the beginning of the video. According to what was said in an interview, the carved horn is the piri referenced in the song / MV. Traditionally Korean soldiers would carry a piri and use it to sound an alarm or call for help. This is referenced in the lyrics, "Blow the piri" and "emergency emergency". Breaking out; The basic story is that no matter how fate, represented by the red strings, tries to separate them they will always end up together at the end. Some people look at this as a completely separate song. Others look at it as the final chapter to the Nightmare Arc, which does not make sense to me. Why would they make the most important part of the story a foreign release? Still others, like myself, look at it as a trimmed down, alternate retelling if Piri where, no matter what, the group will always be together at the end.
If I'm not mistaken Jui said in the making of video for breaking out that it was the last of the nightmare, but I cant find the English sub of it to confirm.
@@SPARTAN-74 I heard that too. I look at it as the last song / MV from the Nightmare series, but not necessarily the final chapter. I think of it as more of a side story / alternate retelling of the last chapter (Piri), like I said in my previous comment. While the MV for Breaking Out is nowhere near as complex as the one for Piri, the similarities are there. The largest similarity is that at the start of the video they're all separated and by the end they are all together again. Also, as I said earlier, I find it hard to believe that they would make the final chapter which, to me, is the most important part of any story, a foreign release and not a S. Korean release. But, you know, as is the case with most of the Nightmare Arc, the final interpretation is up to you.
@@robcabacungan5162 Thanks and you're welcome. You have no idea how much I ended up deleting and / or retyping while creating that timeline. Once I get started I tend to ramble on. It could have easily turned into a 93 page dissertation of all the fine details that make up the Nightmare story arc. Luckily I was able to rein myself in. :)
@@keithcraig506 that's why I've trying to find the English version of the making of the video cause I think that's where I head Jiu say it was infact the final part, but all I can find now is in Korean or Japanese
Oh... also to add regarding DC in Japan, I personally feel they did ok. Personally I feel it's harder for them to break out in Japan - pun unintended - as usually J-rock sounds are normally a lot heavier and more hardcore, if that makes sense. Also.. "I heard that Sua was crazy.." LOL!
this is a series of nightmares and all of them are in a dream trying to save yoohyeon but they are all stuck in their own nightmares and the only one that can move freely is jiu and is the one that is pulling them in their nightmares trying to save them. and at the end they succed of finding them selves but they are still in yoohyeons nightmare trying to get out, waiting for what's next. they also represent their fears its important to say that piri = S.O.S. they are alerting jiu to come save them. jiu represents - the fear of being chased sua - fear of being restrained siyeon- claustrofobia(fear of being in closed spaces) handong - fear of being watched yoohyeon - the fear of puzzles like mazes. dami - Oulinophobia or Agliophobia gahyeon - fear of falling of high places but the series of night mares in order is fly high, chase me, good night, you and i, what, piri, breaking out (plz fix mistakes if im wrong) there are a lot of videos to watch if you want to know what happens before they become WITCHES. i know pretty crazy but go check it out. now scream and boca are another thing, like its meant for haters to see it. deja vu is on both sides. connected to piri and scream but ok that all. this is the link i recomend :th-cam.com/video/F8I150_tRRI/w-d-xo.html
Love the video, you’re my new favourite Dreamcatcher channel 💜 A couple of recommendations which I would be interested in hearing your opinion on as they are some of my fave DC songs, first is I Miss You which is a Japanese song from the same album as Breaking Out (link to official live version th-cam.com/video/BaW7i1bTy5E/w-d-xo.html). Secondly, Can’t Get You Out of My Mind which is from their new album and is fully in English, I just loved the sound/vibe straight away (link to official audio th-cam.com/video/F_2W8SW8iXA/w-d-xo.html no captions needed as it’s in English 😜) . Looking forward to your next video ☺️
I have a suggestion for your vocal analysis format. Maybe you can play the MVs twice each. First look is for the video aesthetics, 2nd time would be the vocal analysis, where you break it down parts where you feel the need to analyse. Well, it's just a suggestion, the decision is yours though. No matter what way you do, I'm sure I'll enjoy your videos.
These reactions are my first time hearing the song and watching the videos. The vocal analysis videos are going to be from live performances. The MV reactions are just your regular old reaction videos. 😅. I will have more of both types of videos in the future!
React to more Dreamcatcher live singing, my favorite live singing they have done is in Deja Vu era. There is one video that stood out to me, it's by run.wav channel where they say Deja Vu live, to the point i can hear some "weird sound" because of mounted mics in their cheek. PS : Also, i like your delivery keep up the good work.
Okay so the chronological order of the videos goes like this: Fly high Chase me Good night You and I What Piri Breaking out Some people would like to include Deja Vu between Piri and Breaking out, but I personally don't think it fits. It is a separate story. Then after the Nightmare arc, comes the Dystopia arc, in which everything revolves around the tree of language, it started with scream, continued with Boca and will end in the next comeback.
I hope you will give a listen to The Beginning of the End album, but maybe skip all the Japanese tracks that are originally Korean (if you choose). I love "I Miss You" ... there's a live concert version which I think you should watch, but also definitely find the lyrics to it. This song was also performed in Korean at their first fanclub event, and I was so happy they did it again at the online concert in July. The other original Japanese song in the album is My Way (also like a lot). This album should get a lot more love from us.
I personally think everything after Fly High follows the prequel storyline, and Chase Me and Good Night are following after Breaking out. They have been trying to rescue Yoohyeon ever since Fly High, and here they are finally reunited - but still dead. 😉
I think Breaking Out is like the end of the story, they united forever, nobody is possessed/trapped anymore, everybody saved. Maybe in death, maybe in real world, but they are saved and that's the end of storyline. I personally don't even think now that storyline of What was happening in the real world, they maybe got out of the nightmare into normal dreams (lucid dreams) but they were still in the dream world and they stayed there forever.
Definitely more to come! Those videos take a bit more work. So will probably only be once or twice a week. I still have a lot of their MVs to get through too & other artists. 😅. I'll get there.
Did you skip Fly High? That MV is the most important for the Nightmare series because it's the prequel and shows how they became nightmares...anyway...I agree that Japanese songs sound very awkward when it's translated from a different language, but there isn't a Korean version of Breaking Out....or their other Japanese song Endless Night.
Yes. I need to go back and watch that one. Someone said it was a prequel so I should watch it last. Idk. I'm going to react to it as well as the dingo live performance
@@SirAustin Oh! Ok...usually people watch it after Good Night, but that works too. I also want to reccomend Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports:A History of Dreamcatcher, by mera. It doesn't focus on their vocals, but I think it's a great video that explains what they have been through...their story is a bit unique in kpop.
The piri is a double reed bamboo flute of Chinese origin. The flute sound in the MV isn't a piri though. The piri has a soft melancholy tone similar to Japanese and native American flutes. The sound is supposed to wake you from a nightmare.
Some recommendations for later 😅. How about Nu'est (no current comeback) and Seven O'clock (current comeback)? I stan a lot more (multi stan 😅) but I think that's enough for now 😂. Maybe Stray Kids too, because they have a come back soon. Ok I really stop for now, promised 😅.
wow your dc videos inspire a crazy amount of comments :D engagement level... high \o/ ;) dc isn't that popular in japan. they tend to like either super cutesy or heavy rock/metal and dc is really neither of those. I bet dc's fan base is 90-95% outside of korea/japan, their initial intended audience :D
I reacted to it yesterday! And reacted to the live performance also. It was blocked in some countries for some reason - but only Denmark I think...It's on my "Dreamcatcher Playlist" on my channel.

Hello Austin! I just discovered your channel today and I love it! I’ve watched all your Dreamcatcher’s videos and saw that you were looking for more Siyeon’s (my bias hehe) live singing performances. I actually find the Japanese language to be just as beautiful as Korean but kpop songs usually don't do it justice, whether that be from awkward pronunciation, forced lyrics, etc.
Love the video as always 💜. It's great to see new fans gushing over them. I'm not really into kpop but I got into them through j-rock. The girls are a fan of one ok rock and Day6 which also have a rock vibe. Lot of us think breaking out might be a resolution mostly because it's more optimistic than Piri in which the girls kind of go back into the nightmare to save Yoohyeon but seemingly get trapped again. SuA is definitely crazy but also kind of shy (when she's not groping the other members), I think Siyeon might be more obviously weird. They vibe hard on the crazy together. Especially noticeable when they are with Jiu.
@@ringadinga4782 I thought so too, but if you see them on shows, it's usually SuA who initiates crazy stuff to an extent but Siyeon is the one who gets bold enough to go through and beyond while SuA end up laughing in a semi embarrassed heap on the ground. Not always though. For instance, the ofcourse game, the question answer round at that one fan meet, and the vlive from their dorm where Siyeon needed a spotlight.
In answer to your question, yes, this is when Gahyeon started rapping. And we were blown away lol
She technically had a pseudo rap line in Scar but this is the very first time she had a full rap verse

I'm excited!!! ❤️
I thought the same thing. After a second I forgot it was Japanese. But I still prefer Korean. 😅
Breaking Out is also the start of their "Rock + other genre" songs
And yes, PIRI is literally "The End of Nightmare" cause that's the title of the album
Also as a Handong bias I am glad you show love to her! I want more and more of her music. She has her own special clip.
Also yes, SuA is hella crazy. But in the good way
Dreamcatcher is the only kpop group that I feel their Japanese version song is Japanese song original. They suit so well...
If you don't count Izone, but since they were put together to perform in both countries back and forth from the beginning. But yea Dreamcatcher also does unique songs for their Japanese releases.
mixplit74 I like Izone songs, too. Not as DC that much though😄
I love TWICE and all of their songs, but I cant get used to their Japanese ver songs translated from Korean ver.
Dreamcatcher’s Japanese ver songs (chase me,good night, piri, what) just like the way it should be .
Sorry for my bad English
"Likey" by Twice was the song that really got me into K Pop. 😅
Most reactors nowadays of DC are metalheads lol
I'm really glad your reactions will be a little bit more thorough in the future, either way I wouldn't have minded, but since you are a vocal coach it would be a shame not to have a more thorough critic. Play to your strength and all that (~˘▾˘)~
Also, if you're going to listen to their b-sides next, probably in album order, then remember to check if they have special videos for them please (>人
VOD s still available! until November 3, 2020 @ 11:00 AM KST
I think one of the reasons why Breaking Out was not successful during the release was because the time diff between that release and the release of Raid of Dreams was so short, like only a week I think. and the anticipation for Raid of Dreams was so high
I am glad that you find us welcoming, we're happy to have you ^^
A plausible theory i've observed (from reading over many theories) is that *Piri* is the end of the nightmare era, as the *bad ending* where the girls are subjected to 'the nightmare' forever (Also *Piri* is the title track of the album called 'The End of Nightmare')
- At this point in the storyline Yoohyeon is trapped (the events of You and I would explain this, and Fly High shows what Yoohyeon did in the beginning of the story to get this punishment) So basically the girls heard Yoohyeon's call, the Piri.
- And then because *Breaking Out* was Japan's title track introduction to Dreamcatcher it is an alternate ending to the nightmare era, a *good ending.* (Hense the album name "Beginning of the End", the beginning for Japan, but the end of the nightmare era.)
-where... well, they make it through, they beat the nightmare, you see scenes such as Siyeon literally subjected to her representative nightmare - Being trapped in a small space. and towards the end of the song she pushes back the wall that was once closing in on her.
(Dreamcatcher 7 + insomnia fan band)
P.s : My morning alarm song is DC's song "Wake up"
Alarm song before sleeping is DC's "lullaby"
Normal alarms are DC's "I miss you" and "Tension" "Jazz bar"😅
I subscribe to the theory that 'Breaking Out' is the end of the nightmare series ("Bye, bye to this Nightmare") with them finally able to rescue Yoohyeon and escape for good as they're reunited in the last scene. They're known in Japan, but not nearly as popular as I would have expected, given how much more rock is appreciated there 🤷
Sir Austin!! Thank you for sharing your Dreamcatchers MV reactions. I super loved it!
You should definitely react to Handong’s special clip cover song :) she sings half in Korean and half in Mandarin.
It's always a pleasure to watch a fellow insomnia's journey with dreamcatcher.
Loving your reactions!
"Sua is crazy"
To the point where i had to lower down my volume lol i love her sm😂😂😂
I just love seeing how you became a Somnie ^^
Dreamcatcher B-sides are just as good as their title tracks, and a whole other side of them, it's great!
Sua is definitely crazy offstage, but in the best most endearing way possible. She's hilarious 😂
The thing about Dreamcatcher is you need time and repeated listens to fully process all they are putting out there with their music. I feel you!
I can see the B(A++)Sides at the end of the tunnel...... that’s where the fun begins
Piri is a type of reed instrument or flute and is used in classical folk lore music in Korea
@@sdrmctchr1039 yup, I agree with you.
It starts with a clip of Siyeon covering EXO's song Overdose which is also worth watching as well as a short rap from Dami
th-cam.com/video/9U_Gb_En4bQ/w-d-xo.html
The whistle part of the song is taken from an instrumental and some other K-Pop Artists have used it in their songs too.
People keep saying that What is underrated, which it is, but that's equally true for Breaking Out. I love that song.
P.S.: You kind of forgot to be a little more thorough, lol.
This was just an MV reaction. 1st time hearing the song. I am more thorough on the vocal analysis videos. :) Thanks for watching!
I love Dami in the Piri era. She looks great with short hair and Handong was impeccable too.
Not sure if someone already mentioned but if you’re interested in hearing some more handong, she has a special clip called “Proof of Heartbeat” where she sings in 3 languages :) Also another one with Gahyeon/Siyeon as well “Every day, Every Moment” which I would recommend ~ Sadly, she doesn’t get a lot of lines but I’m hoping that will change when she comes back ^_^
I know! I'm overwhelmed. So many videos I need to react to!!!
Sir Austin When I was first getting into dreamcatcher I can relate... even now they just have so much content , Somnias are spoiled haha! It’s really a rabbit hole that once you hop in, there is no getting out ~ Thanks for all your reactions, its fun watching you dive deeper into Dreamcatcher :)
so I just finished watching all of your DC reactions and I loved them all❤ (specialy siyeons's speechless)
I know you wanna react to their b-sides now, but since you've mentioned Dami is your favorite in DC I recomend watching their cover of "bang bang bang". Although it's a cover, it has more views than some of their MVs! and I can say it's almost bc of Dami's rap part in it.🔥
sorry for my bad English
Awesome reaction! Keep them coming!
This is an original Japanese release, they have multiple original Japanese releases with a couple translated songs.
I love your reactions to Dreamcatcher
Can't wait for more Dreamcatcher videos from you ^_^
I cant speak english, but I like to watch your videos, traductor
A (hopefully) brief timeline for Dreamcatcher's Nightmare Arc series of videos.
Fly High;
Shows us how group of boarding school girls were cursed and turned into Nightmares. At the end of the video JiU closes the gates to the hotel grounds, thus trapping the group and the curse within the confines of the hotel.
Chase Me and Good Night;
A paranormal investigator arrives at a haunted hotel (formerly a boarding school) to investigate, well, paranormal activity. We learn that the hotel is haunted by a group of Nightmares who torment the investigator and at the end free themselves from the hotel by swapping places with the investigator, trapping him in the process.
You and I;
JiU, our fearless leader, tries to free the girls from the curse. She is successful (or is she?) in freeing all of them but Yoohyeon, who is left kneeling at the portal at the end of the video.
What;
We see the girls in the real world (or is it?), all except Yoohyeon who keeps appearing in their dreams and as an apparition of sorts.
Piri;
Yoohyoen, still trapped in the nightmare, uses the piri to call for help.
Breaking out;
The basic story is that no matter how fate, represented by the red strings, tries to separate them they will always end up together at the end.
Keith Craig Wow, that totally makes sense! And very succinct, thanks 👍
If I'm not mistaken Jui said in the making of video for breaking out that it was the last of the nightmare, but I cant find the English sub of it to confirm.
@@SPARTAN-74
I heard that too.
@@robcabacungan5162
Thanks and you're welcome.
Also.. "I heard that Sua was crazy.." LOL!
this is a series of nightmares and all of them are in a dream trying to save yoohyeon but they are all stuck in their own nightmares and the only one that can move freely is jiu and is the one that is pulling them in their nightmares trying to save them. and at the end they succed of finding them selves but they are still in yoohyeons nightmare trying to get out, waiting for what's next. they also represent their fears
its important to say that piri = S.O.S. they are alerting jiu to come save them.
jiu represents - the fear of being chased
sua - fear of being restrained
siyeon- claustrofobia(fear of being in closed spaces)
handong - fear of being watched
yoohyeon - the fear of puzzles like mazes.
dami - Oulinophobia or Agliophobia
gahyeon - fear of falling of high places
but the series of night mares in order is fly high, chase me, good night, you and i, what, piri, breaking out (plz fix mistakes if im wrong)
there are a lot of videos to watch if you want to know what happens before they become WITCHES. i know pretty crazy but go check it out.
now scream and boca are another thing, like its meant for haters to see it.
deja vu is on both sides. connected to piri and scream but ok that all.
this is the link i recomend :th-cam.com/video/F8I150_tRRI/w-d-xo.html
I'm a big fan of Siyeon, and she is my bias among all Korean singers. But could you maybe share some ideas about how she can improve more?
Maybe in a future video. She actually has improved a lot on her technique since debut! She’s incredible.
I love how you cheer up on us every time :D InSomnia family
I have a suggestion for your vocal analysis format. Maybe you can play the MVs twice each. First look is for the video aesthetics, 2nd time would be the vocal analysis, where you break it down parts where you feel the need to analyse.
Well, it's just a suggestion, the decision is yours though. No matter what way you do, I'm sure I'll enjoy your videos.
These reactions are my first time hearing the song and watching the videos. The vocal analysis videos are going to be from live performances. The MV reactions are just your regular old reaction videos. 😅. I will have more of both types of videos in the future!
@@SirAustin ah ic, ok i understand now. 👍👍👍😉
Thank you! More Dreamcatcher videos for sure! Some vocal reactions and also some silly videos.
Okay so the chronological order of the videos goes like this:
Fly high
Chase me
Good night
You and I
What
Piri
Breaking out
Some people would like to include Deja Vu between Piri and Breaking out, but I personally don't think it fits.
Recommend you to have a look at Dear by dreamcatcher, it's a ballad.
You'll for once, hear Dami's beautiful singing voice
waitting to another Kpop GG vocal analysis/reaction tho man..like Minx...

@@SirAustin I don't think anyone said watch last but only to watch it when it was released which was after chase me / good night.
The piri is a double reed bamboo flute of Chinese origin. The flute sound in the MV isn't a piri though. The piri has a soft melancholy tone similar to Japanese and native American flutes. The sound is supposed to wake you from a nightmare.
Welp, there goes the Nightmare arc!

Breaking out is the official end of the Nightmare arc :D
I actually find the Japanese language to be just as beautiful as Korean but kpop songs usually don't do it justice, whether that be from awkward pronunciation, forced lyrics, etc.
lol sorry English
Since when is Sua shy? If anything between the two of them Siyeon is the more shy one
