Ren just used the same Vera Hall sample that Moby used. He did all the producing. He's posted snippets of him mixing it. The music is so good, it almost make it hard to focus on the lyrics! Masterpiece!

After having listened to Ren's Chapter Series Intently and multiple times, this track just encapsulates his story so well and serves as musical accompaniment for The Chapters. Ren's experiences are very familiar to me to say the least, as is often the case with many of his supporters. Ren's success is so deserved and I do truly hope it continues. Ren is the medicine many of us need. So raw and vibrant in color, combined with his naturally emotive performance! Indeed Ren....Your Limo has finally arrived. This in my mind one of the best lyrical raps ever written and performed..
The stem cell dr. found Ren doing online health blogs about his illness and generously offered him a $25,000 stem cell transplants for free! Only asking that he write about his journey

Also the beat was all Ren's. He got the original sample grom Vera Hall people and used that sample to create the synth. There us a short on his channel showing hiw he did it!❤

He made videos Recently called chapters he had eight now, about his life. He actually cut a hole in his chest. Found a tv in an alley and kept smashing it and took a piece home with him to make a hole in his chest. Sad and true. Damn Ren is a treasure. Beautiful words to spred awareness.
"The Message" by Nas sampled a guitar lick from a Sting song "Shape of My Heart". The sample Ren used is by Vera Hall, Trouble So Hard 1930. Ren mixed & produced track from top to bottom, adding the guitar licks, percussion and strings. All the synths and distortions were made from the original sample. You're 💯 right, Moby used the same sample Ren did back in 1999, on the Natural Blues Album👍.

@@AlSnoopsReid ...Well, not really sure why that's relevant to what we're discussing, but sure, that is when she was first recorded singing that and other songs by folklorist Ruby Pickens Tartt for the WPA Federal Writer's Project, and John Lomax for Works Progress Administration and the Library of Congress, but she had been known for singing this song for quite some time before that, it's an old negro spiritual taught to Vera by her mother, who was a slave in Alabama.

Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. If anyone hasn’t already watched them, I highly recommend you do. With all the chapters he is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. A beautiful hero that the world needs ❤️🐰🕳️

That "Posters up, manhunt, Ren went missing" is in part a reference to #MillionsMissing - he released this in conjunction with ME Awareness Week, and changed his social media profile picture to the Missing logo; the hashtag for ME Awareness Week is #MillionsMissing, or #Missing for short. It's his contribution to the campaign to get help for the people who haven't been able to climb out of the hole yet. People with ME talk about having gone missing from life; they're stuck in bed/at home, and life goes on without them. Friends and family often disappear because people can find it inconvenient and uncomfortable to maintain a relationship with a person who's so ill that they can't participate in outside life.
But this song's such a goddamn BOP, so catchy!

I'm lucky - I went on Disability from a unionized job, and our group health insurance carries over even though I've been off work for 20 years, and it tops up my Disability income... and that *still* leaves me living under the poverty line. Just not as bad as those who didn't have benefits through group health insurance.
There is guitar in this track, way back in the mix, but it's Ren playing, there is no connection to Nas in this song. Nas has a song called "The Message" which he sampled a guitar lick from the song “Shape of My Heart.” by Sting, but that is not the guitar lick Ren is playing.

See the guitar lick in Nas's "The Message" from Sting, is very front and center in the mix, it's not crazy loud, but you clearly hear it. In this track, you gotta ya really listen, cause Ren just sprinkles his guitar licks in very subtly, and it's not Sting's song, just Ren playing a lick. And I think to people not familiar with the Sting song, are picking up on that, and that is where the Nas comparison comes in, I totally get how people could think that, not judging anyone, just was throwing it out there. Hi Ren was the song that hit me the hardest. Especially at the end. This young man from England has excellent timing, Penn style and during C1 his music helped me tremendously get through my auto immune disease and all it was taking from me physically and everything took me to keep my sanity. Especially when doctors and specialist don’t know what’s wrong. Then they turn to it in your head. The years of going through the doubt they implant in your mind, knowing in your gut and your heart that it’s not in your head. Only to find out that you had one testthat your insurance didn’t cover, they would have known 10 years and the suffering you live with for the rest of your life would not be as heavy. I’m grateful young man open his heart to us.

yo, im in a debate with someone, can you guys settle this, whens hes talking about the relese of the teeth of the kiss of cold steel, ren never carved a hole in his chest, its an old bar "a gun in your mouth" (teeth, kiss of cold steel) and we all know ren dosnt have a scar on his chest whatsoever, he had his shirt off a before lol, so, yea, where is this carved hole, dosnt exist, i bet he wanted to end it at points, but hes using his wordplay, what do you guys think, i know he said i wished it was a metaphore but he left it kinda vague, saying your's.
He talks about the incident when he cut himself in his chapters. A cut doesn't have to leave a huge scar and scars can fade over time. I have plenty of scars you wouldn't be able to see unless you did an extremely close shot of that specific area. Considering he was so deeply honest in his chapters series, I doubt he would lie about something like that.
He can rap just don't like his voice
