      I still think they’re great, (ok, I don’t do aggressive inline, I toy with aggressive quads)coming from someone who has been on more current rollerblades,owned several k2s, both aggressive and aluminum frames, the Lightning’s move! It’s my favorite skate of all time. Yes, the cuffs cracking now are their low point! I’ve had to make my own cuffs out of leather and thermoplastic!

    Wow!! I have had a pair of those since about 1992. They broke last week and I was so sad. I did some research and found out that they were actually made my roces and relabeled as rollerblade. Roces currently sell a model called the 1992 that uses the same moulds as the original trs. I just ordered a new pair today. :)

      Yep the 1992 is the same boot but with a memory buckle. The m12 is the aggressive skate version with the sole plate but still the same boot design.

    I still skate my rollerblade sprit blades from 97, I changed wheels to 80mm and spacers to aluminium, also added an insole, it’s pretty much like a urban skate right now, don’t underestimate 90s products, they are very much durable, I hope my skates will not break after I made this comment 👊😎

      Yep, The boots are solid, a different polymer than the cuffs that crack up. I keep using the boot portion, but I re make the cuffs out of leather/thermoplastic, since they are not available retail.

    I still skate in these, in fact I used them yesterday. My family makes fun of me but I’ve bought some since the 90s and they aren’t nearly as smooth. The plastic that hold the buckle is crumbling apart😂.

  • @danburger606
    @danburger606 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yes, all original parts... 608 is referring to the bearings. Don't know why they put it on the wheels... Great skates! Not much has changed... I had the white lightnings that came a few years before these (no buckle - all lace up). I got them in 1989. They were 87 model... I had them in storage, to keep for the memory... The boot eventually just crumbled into pieces. Those look like they are from around 1991 or 92, so the plastic in that boot is ready to fall apart. The frames are made with more nylon or something in them and will not break down like the boots.

    • @SpookyBoots
      @SpookyBoots  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I've ever even seen the TRS with no buckle.. Thanks for all the information! That is super weird they put bearing information on the wheel... They were nice wheels though felt nice and quick for only rolling an anti set up!

      @danburger606 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpookyBoots Pre- TRS. The original Lightning. In 1984 I skated on my Brother-in-laws rollerblades he bought in '83. They came with a two piece metal frame that you could adjust the length.

    • @danburger606

      @@SpookyBoots It was all quads before that. Or ice skating... First time I ice skated was 1970. First time roller skating was 1971. I remember those first lightnings I got in '89, and how it felt like ice skating in the streets... such a huge quantum leap from quads (in almost every way)! Quads were still a thing, and were fun for sliding and pool riding, but the writing was on just about every surface and discipline- inlines were gonna rule.

      Sometimes plastic drys out and becomes brittle, especially if left if harsh conditions like a hot garage for 20 years.

  • @flyingcat2054
    @flyingcat2054 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You all are skating really good on a skate (TRS) that is not optimized for aggressive, even though it is the grandfather of aggressive skating! I’m still skating on the trs’s my originals the cuffs cracked up, so I took off the frames, had a cobbler put a sole and short heel on the boot, which is still solid, so I can put either an ice blade or Pic skate frame on it. I had to make cuffs out of leather. I have two other trs’s from thrift, yes, I’ve replaced straps, but cuffs are solid, still. I rearrange wheels for rockers, and do trick skating and artistic. Since I don’t do airs or jumps anymore I can take a chance on “old boots”! I use quads for skate parks, not in lines. Coming from someone who has paid into the boot industry long enough I will repair or reengineer the trs boots because they fit my wide foot, else I have to get custom boots for skating which start at $700 last I checked.

    Could you recommend any skates for really wide feet? I have roces right now but they are wayyy too tight they literally blister my feet. Thanks love the content

    • @SpookyBoots
      @SpookyBoots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Unfortunately I can't recommend too many as I am unaware of wider skates myself. However I would avoid them as I believe they are a normal to narrow boot, at least with the intuition liners. My USD Aeons feel normal to wide but again I'm not too familiar with too many brands. I've heard some Razors models fit wide. Sorry I couldn't be of more help with this topic.

    • @flyingcat2054
      @flyingcat2054 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome to the world of narrow boots and worse, pointy toe boxes (if your a figure skater)! I still use the roces- lightening boot cause it’s about the widest stock boot I find. But I made a last of my feet out of Polyurethane, then I heat the boot up in parts where it needs to be wider with a heat gun, then push the last in it and it molds it wider. It Can’t do a lot, but enough. The liners I cut up the seams or cut the toe box out altogether for the room I need in the toes or around the instep. I have paid into the miserable boot industry for decades of poorly fitting boots in all forms of skating. Your all probably too young here to understand! 😀 A custom will start at $700 for me, last I checked. Riedel in Minnesota can make customs with lower heel heights and wider insteps, but this is for artistic and dance ice and roller, I’m not sure if they can do an aggressive inline boot. If your after aggressive boots, there are companies that will make a custom boot, one aggressive skater I talked to at a park said his were from a company in Europe, I think a Scandinavian one, and he paid $1600 for his boots. That may have included frames etc. you may know more about this company more than I! Then, there are fitting problems and make sure they will remake the boot if it doesn’t fit properly for the money! I have known too many issues with custom boots!

    I had a pair of RB lightnings back in the 90's, but they only had 3 wheels (middle had optional rocker). I can't find a picture or a mention of them anywhere - but they looked identical to these, aside from the tri-wheel setup. I'm just lost as to what the exact model was...
