  • In this video, we create a heat exchanger by projecting a helix onto an extruded surface and then creating several datum planes sketches, a sweep, and an external detailed thread. As a result, you get a beautiful heat exchanger.

Thanks, great job teaching. I used helix projected to a surface to represent wire windings. As you showed, the helix should be larger than the projected surface.

Hello, thank you for your practical lessons. There is an issue with projecting onto the surface gap in the corner. Why does this happen?

Steve, my new 3D priest/Yoda. thanks so much for all your fantastic work. Recently I'm going all in and at full throttle on surface modeling. Does your Basic to Advanced NX11 book cover this? thanks

Hello Mr. Mayer, and thanks for your support! Basic to Advanced Computer Aided Design Using NX11 covers surfacing from beginner to advanced, and many other concepts. It covers the following (and I imagine I missed some):
      Simple Surfacing:
      -through curves
      -ruled surface
      -sweep along guide - etc
      Advanced:
      -swept (with multiple guides)
      -variable radius edge blend
      -face blends
      -variational sweep
      Freeform Surfaces:
      -bridge
      -through curves
      -through curve mesh
      -fill surface
      -iso-parametric curves
      Surfacing Options:
      -trim
      -untrim
      -delete edge
      -offset surface
      -variable offset
      Edit Surface:
      -x form
      -flattening and forming
