The lead singer is M Shaddows, lead guitar is Synester Gates (one of the best), rhythm guitar is Zachy Vengence, bass guitar is Johnny Christ and the awesome drummer who sadly passed away from an accidental OD of opiates and alcohol and wrote many of bands hit songs is Jimmy "The Rev" Butler

I've seen a ton of concerts, and Avenged Sevenfold's set design during the Nightmare tour, when they were opening for Disturbed, is probably my favorite.

Also the last single with the Rev, and first without him. In the Afterlife vid Rev has a tarantula crawling on him, despite hating spiders, "because the fans will love it!" In the Nightmare vid it crawls over his drum kit.
The strings are pre-recorded but it's played by one of the guitarists, Zacky (the one who's in really prim-and-proper shirt-and-tie outfit). He's (I think) famously a multi-instrumentalist for the band.
