bless u for keeping these old folk tunes and sea shanties alive forever future generations.U keep the great tradition alive with every video cheers to you
I saw my TH-cam notification when I got up this morning…. Immediately grabbed my earbuds and listened. Seth, absolutely amazing! I’m so happy you covered this song. Incredible work as always!
@@sethstatonwatkins I don’t think a thank you is in order, afterall you’re the one who delivered on my request! So thank you! I love that song, and think you did a brilliant job covering it. Thank you! As always, looking forward to more!
The voice. The cadence. What a beautiful version! I wish you corraled more of the lyrics though. And I prefer when the story says "me oilskins and jumper". It's more specific, more personal. It emphasizes the simple, no-fuss nature of the man bidding farewell to his mates. I'd LOVE to hear Connolly's 2004 version (Ranter's Wharf) in your voice. Cheers!
All the way from Australia old mate, one of the best performers I have seen. My kids have grown up with your music on replay each night. You are up there with Liam Clancy!
@@sethstatonwatkinsI have suggestion for an Irish song! It’s called: Bold Black and Tan also to my knowledge there’s like 4 videos of this song on TH-cam it’s kinda close to lost media at this point there’s even barely even websites that have it to and I’ve heard that there’s only 1 physical copy of it as well so if you do it I’ll be very happy!
Great version of this my grandad used to sing this all the time and would listen to late great Barney McKenna sing it I was 8 when I saw the dubs play Vicar Street in 06
I’ve been vibing hard to “Green and Red of Mayo by The Saw Doctors and thinking that it really needs Seth’s voice… One of the lines in a verse says “…and now I must depart it…” [Mayo, his home], so the song lends itself to those of us so far away from home, by choice or force or circumstance, whether in proximity or otherwise. One could even dedicate to 🏰tine and those who were forced to leave their homes.
Great job although I do have a question when I first saw this video uploaded and I saw the name of the song I could have sworn that there's a song of the same name Fiddler's Green that is often associated with Calvary units to this day at least in the US military anyway if anybody else knows what I'm talking about let me know I don't know if I'm Mandela affected myself
He almost sounds like a tenorino. His passaggio primo and passaggio secundo are almost indistinguishable from his chest voice and I'm a lyric tenor who has a very hard time keeping up with his singing if I'm not standing still
For everyone for whom this song has evoked memories of loss (so many people on TT), new or ongoing, a slightly modified* line from my novel (I wrote this)- “NOTHING is so lost that it cannot be found again-“ *not you, nor [your lost], nor their love for you*… So if you’re here remembering your lost loves and their passing, know that they can be found again; our late come to us in so so many ways over the course of our lives beyond them… in a song, a feeling, a moment of low; in anything… just try to listen-they’re still here with you, hugging you, loving you, carrying you through; they’re here watching over you and they surely are so proud that you’ve continued on while they cannot. Just know that they’re not lost; you will meet again someday… there is no grudge beyond, and no regrets; only peace and joy and overwhelming love💜💜💜💚💚💚 your loved ones can be found again, just listen and you’ll find them in a different form… It’s also “no insult to them, nor to [their] memory, if you can learn live again someday…” But please don’t rush your grief. One day, “you and your grief will learn to coexist” But for now, take it easy, and just know that someone cares💚💚💚 all the love from an internet friend
Glad to see another song!
Love the bouncy tone in the song! Wonderful work adding the different variations to the pitch! 🙌✨️

It's not an Irish song, it's English. Written by John Conolly from Grimsby.

Is there any way I could buy a CD?
Longtime fan. Not sure how this is usually done by TH-cam artists.

I was hoping for The Tragically Hip Fiddlers Green after seeing the title... still good though 👍
