    Thanks Lucy for your “gushing” ... so relatable. I am just now getting to the point where I have a few handmade pieces, which I try to favor over RTW items. There is such a sense of satisfaction in knowing that I made the clothing myself.

    Definitely agree about sewing being therapy during lockdown! However, I've also been watching videos from historically inspired sewists (like Bernadette Banner), and find that hand-finishing jersey garments is now my jam! (I have a relatively basic sewing machine, no overlocker or coverlocker: hand-felling jersey seams and hems is quite soothing).

    I love the first top. Can it be sewn with jersey body and sheer sleeves, I think in a jewel tone it would be great for the start of fall when it's still a little warm in the daytime

    This blog was really worth watching, informative, useful and friendly; more important to me is that you include all age ranges. You have come on a long way from your first vlogs, I have cancelled my subscription with one of your main competitors and will now shop with sewessentials.I

    I really liked both of the fabrics you used. I would order them, but the shipping charges to the U.S. are so high that I can't...sorry. I am wondering how you think the first pattern would look if the shoulder line was moved in some? They go to far out for me, but I really like the overall look. Great job on the makes and thank you for sharing!

    The pictures on the Friday pattern cpmpany website arwn't very flattering so I never would have considered that pattern. It looks great on you though and I'll add it to my list but have a lot of projects lined up to deal with first. I like that it is so feminine for a tshirt.

    As always, wonderful information!
    I really must try those patterns, I know the "Stitch Sister's" also made the "Adrienne Blouse"-
    I think it looks phenomenal on you! The Rowan top-I really want to make the V neck and the mock turtle neck views! Fall will be here before we know it!
    I love your curly hair-wish we could switch, as I have pin straight hair, I admire curly hair so much! Our granddaughter has beautiful curly hair...
    Have a wonderful week going forward! :+)

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah thanks Louise that is so very kind of you and I always wanted straight hair when I was a little girl. To be honest, after my haircut next Monday it will probably be more wavy than curly I'm using the curls to hide the terrible state of it after no hair cut for 5 months at the moment! I have never looked forward to a Monday so much in all my life!

    • @ladylouise1969

      @@SewEssential You are most welcome!! Growing up I had a friend who had very curly hair-she came over one summer and we were outside as usual-and she started combing her hair!! I inquired as to why she was combing her hair, and she replied: " I'm trying to straighten it"! LOL!! I told her I didn't understand why she would want to do that to her lovely hair!! ROTFL!! "The grass is always greener on the other side", as they say. :+)
      I am sure Monday won't get here soon enough!
      I was cutting my own hair-retired Cosmetologist here, but it is hard to do the back. Our granddaughter came over a couple of weeks ago and trimmed it, and also foiled it for me. She also attended Cosmetology school, so we have fun with our hair!! (Masks on, of course)
      Yes, those two tops are really nice on you, and really show off your great figure!! (I remember when I had one! LOL!)
      Have a nice week!
      Cheers!

    Hi love your vlogs, and your online store. I've been sewing from the age of 10 and years ago I could make a standard size 10 pattern without alteration, however, now I'm concentrating on getting a great fit so totally agree with you about the pleasure of making and wearing your handmade wardrobe. Enjoy learning about the tweaks you make with each pattern. Don't know if you could give some advice but having real trouble getting a simple woven tank neckline to fit properly, always gapes and I end up having to put 2 neck darts in to bring it flat. Using the Sew Over It Silk Cami pattern. Thanks and look forward to the next vlog. x

    • @sewsew100
      @sewsew100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Claire. You could try stay stitching the neckline as soon as you have cut the fabric as it could be stretching out as you are handling it.

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Claire thanks for the lovely comments. You could make the alteration to your pattern piece first then just cut the fabric with less fullness in that area, just be aware you will be shortening the neckline, although you are also doing that with your dart method and have obviously managed this. I always refer to this book as my fitting bible www.sewessential.co.uk/the-palmer-pletsch-complete-guide-to-fitting-book

    Just wondering if you couldn't get rid of the bunching at the underarm area? Both tops are lovely!

    • @SewEssential
      @SewEssential  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is my second version of the Rowan T and I think I would scoop the front armhole out a little next time I make it to see if that fixes it. I have a high round back and forward shoulders which makes me narrower at the front armhole and wider at the back. Will share when i get around to version 3.
