great video Stavros always love enthusiasts - but one small error. @14:32 that isn't a '64 Lotus Cortina its a much later Ford Cortina Lotus MkII which was only built between '67 and '70. Looking at the dash layout it is a post '68 facelift version as earlier ones had the 4 dials on top of the dash. In my misspent 20s I rallied a Lotus Cortina (Mk I) and then used the engine from that and a Rocket gearbox for my twin Cam Escort which I bought as an ex works rolling shell. (FTW 44H). I rallied that for a few years, then a BDA RS1600 (ex works Safari Rally rolling shell) and finally a Gp 1 Opel Ascona .. Love the sport and get out to watch when I can. I actually built and sold a Twin Cam to a guy in Rosslare .. went over with a car and came back with wads of cash ...Sadly never rallied the roads in Ireland.
I heard Ireland probably has more than 50% of all the 86's in existence mainly because there were so many used for rally cars. There's loads of them over there.
Friend Stavros969, great work with your videos. We started a rally compilation channel and we would like your permission to use some clips from your videos. Of course, we would link it in the description. It would be a pleasure to have your collaboration in the future. regards
That's a mk2 cortina, so it's certainly not a 1964 ! 1966 was the earliest mk2. I'd imagine one of the Mk1 mini's would be the earliest / oldest car there.
Shame another mark 2 escort bites the dust.....he could always sell the drivers rear quarter and back panel to the other crash victim i suppose......bits are not cheap for these cars now lol !!!
I have to say that was a superb presentation from beginning to end, better than some of the professional film crews. Well done . 👍
Great work, Stavros! Next best thing to being there.
Lovely scenery from the drone. Though the fog masks some of it!
thank you Stavros for working so hard to bring us these great videos :-)
Another great video Stravros thanks for sharing!

Rallying a Lotus Cortina, Escorts and a GP 1 Ascona, Definitely not misspent 20s.

Did you play Father Noel Furlong in Father Ted by any chance??
Moll's Gap will bite you in a heartbeat in damp conditions like that. That was a big hit for that white Mk2 sadly...
Hope to see another vid this year. I'm going myself
A great Irish man full of zest and vigor:))👍

Great video Stavros. It’s hard to beat the older cars for a bit of sideways action.

There is just something special about a mk2 Essie in rally trim that modern rally cars just don't have

Greek ? Proper accent though! :)
Never knew Ireland had a rallying lol I though it was mainly scandinavian thing :D
Stabbs _ seriously lol
It's the biggest form of motersport here! although the dirt rallying isnt on as much here
Tarmac rallying is huge in Ireland, and also very often hugely fast. Those drivers have balls the size of planets...
This video is #39 on the Irish trending page!
