Im doing this method right now, usually I’ll cover them and leave a little gap of air for the steam to come out, but sometimes it works and sometimes it’s still a little hard, so I’ll uncover this and leave it for 3 hours and if the water gets low I’ll add some water from the kettle. Will update in 3 hours time x
Thank you ! I'm 77 yrs old and trying to increase my daily protein intake. It looks like soybeans is one way to boost protein - in addition to Whey protein concentrate. My goal is over 75 gms / day of protein. Wish me luck. Thanks again. I hope this will work out - daily. Probably need some recipes to vary the flavors.
Hi Herbert! I'd also recommend hard tofu, lentils, edamame beans. Check out my high protein tofu breakfast bowl in this video th-cam.com/video/FJciZn-ZFo0/w-d-xo.html Other than that, you can use soybeans as any other beans in soups and stews, make hummus (th-cam.com/video/t6jI640N10E/w-d-xo.html) or oven roasted snacks th-cam.com/video/DGpFud9qfnI/w-d-xo.html
Intriguing dietary study; I've heard about it before. The problem with this study is that it was not adequately controlled. The intervention group not only ate soybeans but also completely changed the rest of their diet to low fat, vegan, while the control group made no changes. Was it the soybeans or the low fat vegan diet that produced the benefit? Alas, we can't really say. The intervention group SHOULD have only added soybeans, but otherwise kept the same diet as the control group. That would have been the properly controlled experiment. Just the scientist in me speaking --- I'm not arguing to avoid soybeans.
Thumbs way up; Thanks, utmost blessings! We use a soymilk machine ... and we end up with much husks/hulls masking as "cream" in the soy-milk. Any suggestions on soymilk machines per se?
Hi! Thank you so much! I've never used a soymilk machine but I've made soymilk at home. You can use up the pulp as you would when making almond milk -- mix it into bakes' batters, pancakes. Or dehydrate it and you've got a high-protein and high-fibre flour. I hope this helps!
Hey Nele! SInce i make my own tempeh,i have lots of soybeans in my pantry. I also make tofu once in a while, soy milk etc. But the one time i tried to boil my soybeans, they just wouldn't cook. As i see,it needs a lot of boiling time. Can you do more whole soybeans recipes? I saw your hummus, which i will try shortly. Maybe some bread, some soybean falafel or burgers? Or yoghurt? That's a really tricky one right there, cause i have failed numerous times. And can you use soy floyr to make breads, cakes, maybe homemade pasta, etc? I keep looking for these kind of soy recipes, but there are not many (if any) I will be waiting for some of them on your channel! Thanks!🙏
i have soaked soy beans that have been soaking for almost 24 hours. i want to make a soy burger or soy bean balls. Can i just mash and make the balls now?
Hi! You can't really mash soaked soybeans as they are still hard (not cooked). You'd need to cook them first. Another option is to use food processor to make the burger/patty mass and then bake them in oven. However, I think you'd get a better result when cooking the beans first and then making the patties. Hope this helps!
I soaked it in water overnight. Then I boiled it for 15 minutes, then I put it in slow cooker on highest setting for 5 hours. So far it is hard and I don't see it softening anytme soon.
@@nutriplanet boil for 12 hours? In the slow cooker highest setting it began to boil again after few hours. This morning after some 10 hours of slow boiling finally softened but not as soft as regular pinto beans. So total time from soaking to more or less done, a good 36 hours
Soak for at least 12 hours. Mine are soft after boiling for 3 hours. You may add a dash of baking soda, which always helps legumes cook faster and become softer. The hardness of water plays a role as well.
Have you cooked soybeans at home? If not, head over to the blog post for more tips and instructions bit.ly/how-to-cook-soybeans-roasted-soybeans 🤗💚
Excellent information! Thank you!
So glad to hear that! Thank you for sharing your feedback! 🤗

skimming foam also has the benefit of preventing it from boiling over

Fair point 👍

If I add baking soda, will it still ferment properly for Natto. I'm making Natto without a starter please.
Hi! I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the process of making natto. If unsure, don't add baking soda, it'll just cook longer.
I used instapot to boil these
Thanks for the video. How long would it take to cook the beans in an instant pot?
I have no idea 😊 never had an instant pot 🤷♀️ I guess the cooking time would be much shorter but by how long, I wouldn't know. 💚
I have soy beans i'm making and wondered if anyone had make a soy mince (ground beef) with them?
Is adding baking soda to decrease the cooking time ok? thanks
Yes, baking soda helps cook faster.
Thank you for sharing, it was really helpful 😊
I'm so happy to hear that! Enjoy! 🤗
Thank you for that fascinating information.
I'm happy that you found it useful! 🤗
It is powerful I’m plant based and needed a good protein boost I just messed up cooking em I threw em in slow cooker for 4 hours
Hi! I'm curious -- what went wrong? 💚
@@nutriplanet just hard still little hard but I still ate em imma soak em and cook em longer
Germinated soybeans are steamed and then fermented for a day before being eaten.
Can I cook without bay Leaves?
Hi! Yes, of course!
Thanx
No, don’t.
How dare you even ask

i did mean i need to cook them after soaking, silly me. i will look at your instructions. thank you so much
I tried to soak them for 24 hours and then boil for 1/2 hour but they were still hard, I will try this next week.
Hi! Half an hour for cooking is too short. They need 3 hours.🤗
Heyy what is highest in protein soy beans or kidney beans?
Hi! Soybeans have twice as much protein compared to kidney beans.
Thanks Nele
My pleasure! 🤗

Soak for at least 12 hours. I haven't tried a slow cooker so I can't comment on how long it would take. I've only tried good old boiling 😊

Yes, it's a great option if you have an instant pot 👍
