    Nice. Been a long time since I was last there, living in Australia it is nice to see the UK countryside. I noticed you started off from around Richmond, I spent much time in that area as I used to have a sister who lived in Colburn village at Catterick Garrison, I love all that area from the Dales right across to the see at Bridlington and Scarbourgh. One of the best views ever was from up Sutton Bank, that hill killed a few cars cooling systems..
    Great video, keep em coming

      We are north Nottinghamshire Dan but most of our trips seem to be heading North so far; the A1 isn't the most exciting riding so we count breakfast just before the A66 as the start of the trip! It is a beautiful area, hope all is well on the other side of the world, bet you have some good biking roads! Sarah

      @@fbglife Ah yes, it is awesome over here and weather is always good for riding except the 40c days, you have to close the visor in your helmet so your face doesnt burn,, I was born and bread in East Lothian Scotland and only moved here in 2008 at the age of 44, but we are loving it here... If you guys ever want the ultimate touring then visit Australia, yous are more than welcome, you just have to look out for Kangaroos, Koalas and Possums on the road,,

    Just like your problems, in 2021, the Alternator packed in at 24000 miles. I made the mistake of allowing the AA to touch my bike as the Honda dealers later told me to not let them do anything other than recover the Goldwing. The Engineer boosted the battery with 50 amps for one hour and it allowed me to ride home, but the boost fried the starter relays, which hide behind the left hand panniers. I watched TH-cam video's of how to replace the alternator and the starter relays and did it myself. It took about 30 minutes to do, Honda's workshop manual, stays 3 hours labour. I was surprised when I bought the Alternator as the Honda website suggested a price above two thousand pounds, and my 5 star dealership, quoted under one thousand. The relays are three hundred quid a pair. While I did this, I changed the coolant with genuine Honda coolant.

      Good to know things are quicker than the manual says Roger, that can put you off even trying. And if the breakdown people say they can get you back on the road, that would be appealing...

    Lake District NP is quite a nice ride on a Goldwing. We tend to stay in the Youth Hostels, which are run as B&B hotel style and the name should not put you off staying in one. They are clean and cheap and do food and alcohol. I got a good paper map and looked for the single track roads which are very interesting for a 4ft wide motorcycle. We ventured out of the park to the west and went to St Bees which is slightly north of Sellafield, but the roads are quite good and there are some quite nice places to stop and have a hot soup.

    • @fbglife
      @fbglife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll look the Youth Hostels up Roger, must admit they hadn't occured to me! Have you ridden 'The Struggle' just off Kirkstone Pass?

    • @rogerfalkingham2310
      @rogerfalkingham2310 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fbglife Yes and hard knot pass. In Scotland we did the single track to Applecross Bay and a group of German's who followed us came over and congratulated me on doing the switchbacks without putting my feet down.

    Very good you 2. Hope you've settled into the GOLDWING niceley. The CORTINA caught my eye in the MUSEUM. They were loveley cars. Had an ESTATE version. Unless it was the GRANADA on show. Look forward to your next one thankyou. 👍

      Thanks Ian, yes we're both settling into the Goldwing nicely and getting more comfortable with it every time we go out. Yes, that was a Mk 5 Cortina - lovely car indeed!

    There is a member of the GWOCGB on the wanted site selling a Swiper, which is a must have. I had one on my GL1500 and transferred it over to my GL1800. Great when its raining and a great talking point when non-winger spot it.

    • @rogerfalkingham2310
      @rogerfalkingham2310 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fbglife Yes. Works quite well. The Japanese use a motor driven unit you can do an aftermarket fit for £1100.00.

    Hi there it’s pierce from Ireland. The lakes we are going to do next year it’s on my good lady’s wish list. You seem to have more confidence in your riding ability and as you know it’s just confidents in yourself carry on the great rides and ride safe 👍🇮🇪

    • @fbglife
      @fbglife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out some of the passes Pierce, they are beautiful. Not sure they are all good for touring bikes so do a bit of research first! Jonathan's riding is pretty good now, just need to keep doing the miles, it's the best way!

    Take care if you ever do the Honister Pass, it’s easy enough unless you get behind a very slow driver as you may need to slow right down and some of the cambers will have you leaning a bit too much with a heavy bike. It can be quite hairy

    • @fbglife
      @fbglife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice Andrew. I'll improve my skills on the Goldwing before we tackle that pass.

    Are you totally happy with the slow speed handling of the Wing now?

    • @fbglife
      @fbglife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing wrong with the Goldwing's slow speed handling, it's MY slow speed handling that's the issue! :) Seriously, it's getting better ride by ride, thank you.
