Should also be noted that 4965 has LFS style Vianova screens up at the top. Most 40 foot Xcelsiors have the screens in the middle where one faces the front, one faces the back. 4965, probably with 4966 and the rest of the XE40s, will have the Nova Bus style Vianova screens. Gotta admit it looks hella weird like that in New Flyer buses… but these XE40s are amazing. (Well THIS one…)

The reason other Xcelsiors have the backwards facing screen is because of the futuristic-looking vent thingy towards the front. I believe the HVACs are relocated on XE40s, so they don't have the vent; therefore a screen can be placed there.
I definitely like it better that way because it ensures that everyone can see one of two screens.

While I am not too keen on the rear door spec, but at least it opens and closes a lot quicker compared to the Nova LFS/LFSA's.

@NYC_Pokemon_Fan After seeing how the doors close in person, I am glad they open and close quickly. The Nova's open and close slow which increases dwell time.

​@NYC_Pokemon_FanI'm not sure about MTA preferring New Flyer. Just the simple fact that they continue to order Novas reveals otherwise; on top of that, leadership has praises for LFSs in each press release following a bus order.

@NYC_Pokemon_Fan Despite all of that, MTA has continued to order majority Novas since 2019. More new diesels and hybrids are Novas, and that will continue through the MTA Bus order. It's only for alternative fuels that New Flyer is chosen more often, with not a single CNG from Nova ever and the first five battery electric buses coming eventually (after what, 15 XE60s and 60 XE40s, plus the 10 XE40s and Proterras from 2018?), as well as articulated buses (after 2013, most have been from New Flyer).
I'm not saying I disagree with you. I'm saying MTA doesn't see it the same way. I do believe that the Xcelsior is an objectively superior platform in capacity and comfort.

where im at, KAT has around 12 XE35s (well 11 as one got wrecked) and a few of them make this weird noise every so often like lawn mower noises when its sitting in idle.
