😂 “Buddy Holy” 😂 You guys are killing me. But yah, I guess if you’re just discovering 90’s music then asking you to know the 50’s is out of the question. Keep up the journey, fellas!
Jaybud it’s a smaller band but you need to listen to “When the Kite String Pops” by Acid Bath. It is wildly known to be the best sludge metal album and the vocal performances would blow your mind
1994 was an amazing year for UK Music with Britpop at maybe its peak with albums from Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Suede & Charlatans amongst others. Plus Prodigy, Portishead, Massive Attack, Morrisey, Manic Street Preachers & Stone Roses.
one thing about the opening call in, in 1994 weezer was VERY popular they had 3 hit singles, with their videos being in MTV's rotation consistently. Buddy Holly's music video was so popular it was packaged with windows 95, they were insanely popular which is why their next record Pinkerton was such a huge turn for them since the mainstream was not happy and wanted Blue album 2
Their first two albums (Blue album and Pinkerton) are their best imo , but there are good songs on every album. They've never tried to be the coolest or best band, they've always just done their own thing and as you picked up on they are just a good, fun band. And because they don't really follow trends they are somewhat timeless.
Jeez, could the guy in the beginning have downplayed Weezer any more? Really set the tone by making them sound like they weren’t a big band. Just quiet chill music? Uh huh…it’s not fucking smooth jazz dude. Some of those riffs go pretty hard by any standard.
It was me and I agree. I was more of comparing it to the heavier stuff they have listened to but realize I downplayed. This album rocks and has some great riffs.
I’m so glad you all checked out this album! I’m one of the people in the camp that says their next album Pinkerton is even better, although very different, but I think you’ll really like it too!
I've been proclaiming for years that 1994 is the best year in music of human history. Some of the best music across all genres came out in this year. The Blue album in particular is some of the best song writing in my opinion.
For me, it would be hard to choose from roughly 91 (the beginning) to 94 (the end) which specific year was the best. It was just endless good music being dumped out. It was almost overwhelming, especially since back then we had the radio or CD's! The mid and late 90s had charm, too.
@@fafa1648these were the four years I was in highschool and we were certainly blessed. I wonder what it would be like for this generation though having all of this great music at the same time at their finger tips instead of having to wait on over half of it
Weezer is excellent, especially if you take them for what they are, power pop. Everything they had to say is said. The songs are catchy as can be. They feel really good. Catchy, guitar driven, loud soft loud power pop.
I love this album so much, when this came out it changed guitar players like me, we already had nirvana to learn from them Weezer😂 green day, stp, bush, oasis, radiohead, all these bands had super simple bar chords and now we had songs to learn that were simple enough and catchy. God i miss the 90s
Another great 1994 you should really do is Oasis Definitely Maybe. Sooner the better. They have a big reunion tour kicking off this summer that is going to be massive.
Every song ends with feedback. Good record for high school make-outs. Think like an attic bedroom, lamp light, smoking some jays, pretty girl in a midriff top and huge pants... You should do "Jagged Little Pill" - Alanis Morsette {1995}. I'd never heard a woman sing with as much venom as on "You Oughta Know" and it blew my young mind. The 90's was a great time for women in music too - a lot of bands featuring women contributed a lot. No Doubt, Alanis Morsette, Garbage, Hole, Veruca Salt, L7, tons of bands.
Fully agree with your caller. Music from the era just before the '90s was stale, corporate, and forced 2-dimensional sameness, with only a few brilliant pop songs here and there relieving it. Not much creative oxygen available. Then out of nowhere, in a period of maybe 20 months, every single band sounded totally different from each other and packed with artistic richness. It only lasted a few years before industry locked it back down and music started to suck again. But in those few years, the creativity was explosive.
pls dont let this be the only weezer album y'all check out, if you like what you hear I'd recommend you listen to some more, they have A LOT of material and honestly quite a lot of it is magnificent I love this band, Cuomo is one of my favorite songwriters oat but anyway, great video guys, love what y'all are doing with the channel :)
While the Blue album is pretty damn great, your caller mentioned 90s punk, and that was my fucking jam back then. Y'all REALLY need to give some of those bands a listen as well. Rancid, NOFX, and Bad Religion being probably the 3 biggest bands of the time to check out, besides Green Day.
Glad you guys liked this album, and no Weezer has tons of great albums, they're still coming out with good music😂 next time you guys listen to this album think of the 90s it'll put you in the right state of mind
skill issue tbh, Weezer is one of the best bands active today and one of the best of all time they have at least 4 albums just as good if not better in my humble opinion
@locus Ahh. I agree with you with the white album being the exception. Front to back it’s solid and it’s one of the few great rock albums of the 2010s-2020s
Green Day next week!
Has to do MCR after that to complete the pop punk triangle
do master of puppets guys
Please react to Nirvanas Incesticide!
@thefunnywatermelon2983 yeah that would be good too
@@what3534AGREEEDD either the 3 Cheers album or Black Parade (personally I'd start w 3 Cheers)
You guys need to react to You'd Prefer An Astronaut by Hum. Its a really great record, and they inspired a lot of Deftones' music.
Absolutely the best album of the 90's
"Downward is Heavenward" is also insane
Love it
great album
All day, every day. Hum is the most underappreciated alt band from this era. 120 minutes on MTV, baby. That's where it all started for me.
Okay, this is officially my favorite channel. You guys react to and love ALL OF MY MUSIC.
Pinkerton is another amazing Weezer album
I would know
props to whoever edited this, the cutting game is on point

Yes please
Daydream Nation - Sonic Youth
One of the absolute best alternative records ever!
1994. The year I graduated. Didn’t know how good we really had it.
Very good editing on the cuts! Well done to the video producer
This album is nearly perfection, oh 94’ what a year to be alive with 17 oldies 🙌😊🫠🫶
😂 “Buddy Holy” 😂
You guys are killing me. But yah, I guess if you’re just discovering 90’s music then asking you to know the 50’s is out of the question. Keep up the journey, fellas!
OK boys. It's time.
Mudvayne LD 50
icky.
@@halfalligator6518 I mean, I get it. Not for everyone. The grooves (drums and bass especially) are unlike anything else.
Only in Dream is a prototype example of a perfect album track closer!
You guys gotta do Rage Against The Machine
Yes, please
This this this. I'm surprised they haven't already
Rage!!!
Rage for the machine
Now you do what they told ya
The build up in Only In Dreams is one of my favourite parts in all of music.
Undone the sweater song is a legendary track, knew you guys would love that track.
Jaybud it’s a smaller band but you need to listen to “When the Kite String Pops” by Acid Bath. It is wildly known to be the best sludge metal album and the vocal performances would blow your mind
Thank you. Been asking reactors for years! No real reactions out there.
People just don’t know 😂
The Beastie Boys albums of that era Check Your Head and Ill Communication are must listens.
That’s what I’m was saying..he forgot to mention that
Throwing Copper from Live is another great 1994 album
As someone who was alive in 94 and an early teen, I concur. Endless good music. The radio was a literal goldmine.
My album recommendation would be the Violent Femmes self-titled album. Acoustical punk at its best.
This 100%! Absolute must listen
One of the most perfect guitar pop albums you'll ever hear.

The best alternative band ever is Ween. Highly underrated.
I still hear Beavis singing "Push the little daisys and make them come up" whenever Ween is brought up.

@stephenSchwarz I'm surprised you didn't mention how autistic Rivers is. The social awkwardness is a big part of their appeal

You guys should react to the album “Mer de Doms” by A Perfect Circle. The band consists of the same vocalist of TOOL.
Another great 1994 you should really do is Oasis Definitely Maybe. Sooner the better. They have a big reunion tour kicking off this summer that is going to be massive.
Also. Waiting for Pinkerton
If you do Dookie, Smash by the Offspring is also worth a listen
Gotta do more Weezer. Pinkerton is next.

I don't think any album quite captures the 90s suburban teenage experience as well as this one.
