    Many plunge routers have multiple stops that allow you to set the maximum depth of the bit, and then turn an adjuster that allows you to make one or more shallower cuts prior to the full depth cut.
    Also, when you're beveling bridge pin holes, if you set the depth stop on your drill press to the desired depth, all of your bevels will come out the same (and the last 5 will be quick and easy!)
    You probably already knew this stuff, but it wasn't mentioned in the video. Excellent video as always!

    Hi, great videos! I'll be referencing them often. I'm wondering if you have done any videos on repairing chips under the bridge? Mine was lifting and was chipped quite a bit when I removed it. What is the best thing to use so the joint will be flush and strong? Thanks!

    yes, it depends on what kind of bit and the size.

    I can't find info on how to buy or make a pinless bridge 😫. Do you have videos on how to make pinless bridges?

      Unfortunately I do not have any info on making a pinless bridge.

    @dieconashi I don't have a video about this subject. The trick is to remove as carefully as possible the bridge to avoid the chips. If you get them then piece everything back together as neatly as possiblle. Once the glue is dried go ahead and reglue your bridge.

    @guild1978 The bindings used on that guitar were Koa.

    I have no idea what the angle is. I am about 4mm from the front edge on the treble side and about 7.5mm fron the front edge on the bass side.

    Hi there, i was wondering where i could buy or how i would go about making the radius block for the underside of the bridge?
    Thanks, Paul

    Thanks again - for that clarification. Compensation! yes - that little addition (to allow for stretching the strings by pressing on them!).

    The angle is the main question I have about the bridge slot. What is it? I can clearly see that there is about an 1/8" difference in the set back from the front edge of the bridge which is accepted to be at 90 degrees to the centerline of the guitar. What is the angle of the slot in relation to the front of the bridge.

    I measure from the front edge of the slot in front of the high and low strings. Don't forget to compensate when setting your bridge.

    Due to budget reasons I can only find a set of brad point bits with 4.5mm or 5mm bit will either of them still work or will I have to bite the bullet
    Also after finish sanding my bridge I’ve noticed that it’s a little bit taller than the fretboard is that also going to be an issue or can I work with it

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      a 4.5mm would work as you have to ream the holes out later anyway and you will need to bite the bullet for the reamer. The bridge is normally about a 1/16 inch taller than the fretboard with frets installed. However, this depends on many factors. Hopefully you have thought this through by the time you make the bridge.

      to be honest I actually never knew about the 1/16" my master luthier who is a classical guitar maker never mentioned it
      as silly as it sounds to learn how to make a steel string guitar from a non steel string guitar maker i've still learned so much
      I've just needed a few extra bits along the way

    up cut or down cut spiral bit?
    32* degree bridge slot?

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the video I am using a downcut bit but and upcut would also work.

    Okay, I'll give it a go. Thanks!

  • @FranklinArtSite
    @FranklinArtSite 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the reply! However since accuracy is an important factor here, I would feel better if I knew if the dimensions, you use from the front, are at the ends of the slot or at the high and low string locations and if they are to the middle of the slot or to the front edge of the slot. Picky, picky, picky......
