My favorite story of all time. I never get tired of reading it. The character Utnapishtim was where the story if Noah came from. The Gilgamesh story is millenia older than the bible. Can you prove that the Noah story came from the story of Gilgamesh? While there are some similarities, they are quite different stories in character and content. I wouldn't make such assertions so lightly.

@@steinfranken1108 Noah is equivelant to Utnapishtim in the Mesopotamian version. The essence of the story is the same. But the Jewish writers had a different take on the relationship between the humans and the Gods, so the main difference between these stories focuses on this relationship. In the Mesopotamian version, the Gods were tired of the humans being noisy, so they decide to destroy the humans. In the Noah version, it is because sin and violence of the humans that leads God to want to destroy the humans.

Simplified further, Gilgamesh was put on the throne by the priesthood but went his own way. The priests found another dude to challenge him and restore their position but Enkidu betrayed them. All other conflicts were symbolic of the efforts the priests made to regain power.

      Essentially, yes. Sort of?
Textbooks I read in school were wrong. As of today? Almost every religion, civilization and/or religious text? In one way or another always begins with 2 brothers fighting; Mayans spoke of the 2 brothers had to clean the world of evil before the skygods could arrive. Annunaki, so goes, Enlil and Enki were brothers with very different POV's. And Even the flood myth makes sense for most origin stories. My opinion, whomever, whatever was the catalyst of the great flood we read of? That was a complete cleansing. Or it was certainly meant to be. Just a total do-over. And in the Annunaki myth for instance, 1 brother saw humans like we view... Squirrels lol. Yet the other brother in the last moments was able to prove our potential with a simple DNA fix. ??

Uhm … While I think you have made a pretty fascinating presentation both visually and orally … you have taken an awful lot of “liberties” in fleshing out an already stunning piece of “romanticized history”.
I have studied this tale for decades and many period pieces of the same time trying to work out its historical aspect outside of being simply a “story” but I have been stymied as things of this antiquity often lack supporting evidence.
The Sumerian form of record keeping, cuneiform on mud/clay tablets, has proven to be unsurpassed in durability but, I think, this tale possibly predates cuneiform tablets and is more a Legend of a more distant past that was finally written down.
Of course, this is simply my best guess / opinion.

Thank you very much for your informative comment. Considering that even today in global south most of the stories travel by word of mouth, until they are finally written down, it is not unfair to extrapolate that that would have been the case with the story of Gilgamesh as well.
We are trying to work an updated version which is more close to the original text, would be you kind to give us some pointers or point us in the direction or resources where we can get some more historically accurate information?

That is Epic of Atrahasis. Gilgamesh has a passing mention in the final chapter about the immortal who survived the flood.

@oldentales Gilgamesh lived in a land that you could walk in 10 days.
And his best friend was killed by a lion. He sorrowed for the rest of his life and wanted to mean something.
He had temples built for traders whom travelled on the trading routes .
The Phoenicians left things they liked in the temples.
That is why Gilgamesh is displayed as a big man with a lion. Ehm statues of him.
I see multiple stories of Gilgamesh, I don't know why they make up things.. if they want to tell a story then why use the name and title of another (his)story ???

I see a connection between this fictional story to the biblical account of Tower of Babel and its main character Nimrod. But people tried to make it into something else, a romantic story to separate it from the Bible which most of the events recorded were proven to be true by archaeological discoveries. So this story of Gilgamesh is written by people outside of the writers of the Bible.

    • @SweetTreat-wl2yl
      @SweetTreat-wl2yl หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Gilgamesh was around long before any bible. And the Zoroastrians were tucked in between. It's fan-fics all the way down.

    • @whiteeagle6370
      @whiteeagle6370 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

The writtings of the Bible come originally from a priestly line in Sameria, Abraham was called out of Sameria by God, and was also the son of a priest. Moses had access to these old tales as well as knowledge from the Egyptian libraries when he scribed the first books of the Bible. The scriptures also preserved over time the knowledge, observations of, and prophesies of the Hebrew people from the time of their establishment as a nation. It was used as a reference by archaeologists to find many lost and forgotten ancient sites.
While there is a possablity that Gilgamesh was Nimrod, I doubt it. Too many differences and there is another story that more closely matches the Nimrod one, but I dont remember the name, will have to find it later, think it was from Zoroastrian texts too.

Oldest story ever written is the Ramayana a 26,000 verse poem.
26,000 verses match the 26,000 year Precession of the Equinoxes.

It might very well be the case, but Gilgamesh is the one that the archeologist have found in writing. Ramayan could have been written much before Gilgamesh, but the oldest written form that has been found is Gilgamesh as per our research.
However if you can give us a link, we would definitely like to learn more about the issue.

Just Google Nilesh Oak and read his book the Real Rama where he dates the Ramayana using Astroarchaeology on Asterisms heavily used in the text plus hydrology on the diversion of rivers in the text like the Indus and the Yamna. There are also countless botanical references in the text related to the Indian Subcontinent then and now..
There are many talks by Nilesh plus many interviews where explains in detail whet he found and what scientific disciplines he applied to both the Ramayana and the Mahabharata wars.
Happy to chat about it i read Gilgamesh 50 years ago and countless references to it since then. I also bought the three volume set of Valmiki’s Ramayana 50 years ago.
I have always. been very interested in our deep history. I have just spent the past 24 years engaged in a global Petroglyph GPS Survey under Dr Anthony L. Peratt senior plasma physicist at Los Alamos National Labs. With a 200 strong team we recorded hundreds of millions of petroglyphs from every latitude and longitude where people were present to record very large Miyake Solar extinction driving storms of the past 50,000 years.
In the Ramayana Book III the 23 chapter titled Rama Sees Omens he perfectly described a Solar Super Storm in great detail only known like that in the past few decades. It is a remarkable proof of authenticity of the text as we now know what Rama describes to his brother Lakshman is a perfect description of what we can expect atnthe peak of the current Laschamp-Heinrich event double act we are now reaching the peak of.
This is why the US Dept of Energy funded the Global Petroglyph survey which ran for quarter of a century.
The above is how i know for sure the Ramayana is real.
Anyhow youtube Nilesh Oak on the Ramayana. There is plenty of material
available for you to immerse your self in.
Of particular interest is the four part ‘Sugriva’s Atlas’ which perfectly describes the Palaeolithic Ice Age World.
Once you read this it will become plainly evident Valmiki’s epic is true and accurate.
      Cheers john
