As rents continue to rise with no end seemingly in sight, more people are turning to alternative housing options to keep a roof over their head. From co-living spaces to even hotels. FOX 5 NY's Duarte Geraldino takes a closer look at the growing trend.

There are several of those places where people rent a room and share the amenities in Manhattan and Brooklyn where the rent is closer to 1500 and the rooms look a little bigger, that owner is greedy & taking advantage of lack of affordable housing.

All of those options you showed are still way more expensive than they should be….it’s ridiculous. My mortgage is $600 a month and that includes the property taxes and insurance….and that’s for a 3 bedroom on a half acre of land. All of this rent over $1000 or even close to $1000 is too much…you’re wasting your money away and with nothing to show for it in the end.

Apartment rents are expensive every where not just in New York. I Pennsylvania I seen one apartment complex that was charging $4,000 for apartment rent for just one apartment.
