I wear my pay to park shirt every time I go to the grocery store. Now every time I walk in I hear PAY TO PAAAARK by a group of cashiers. Now they follow you so they even say it in Jeffs voice. If you use an automated fee machine at any of the welcome centers or designated areas, it should print a tag for you to use - either a daily or weekly tag. The issue with these illegal parks wasn’t that they didn’t have a pass, it was that they weren’t in a parking spot and blocking the roadway.

I can think of about 6 older folks that tried all kinds of reasons he shouldn’t charge what he charges! One older lady even asked for a military discount because her son is in military reform school!! AND it wasn’t even HIS car, it was his sisters!!!

There are plenty of places to park, $20 for all day or less, then walk all over the city. There are so many wonderful stores In Gatlinburg in which to shop. We go 5 or 6 times a year.

I never understand how people think there even needs to be a sign if you are parking anywhere except a public street. If it’s not on a street it’s obviously someone’s property so you shouldn’t park there unless there is a sign saying you can or you are visiting the business/residence connected to the lot
I live near the ocean. It's amazing how tourists here also miss the huge signage that says no parking. If you want to go to the beach you have to understand parking will cost money. You can either pay to park, so that you don't have to worry about getting towed, or you can just pay for the tow and go through the frustration. 23:03

My husband and I travel out side the US all the time and have never had using a Credit Card to be a problem. Especially in Canada. We do stop at a currency exchange just to get local currency for small purchases.
When I was,based in the UK I've only had trouble with cards twice. Once when In was in Italy at a service station trying to pay for petrol and the other time I was in the USA trying to buy a DVD. On both occasions it was to confirm who I was and the,fact that I was overseas. I think I could have avoided both if I had let the card company know I was travelling. However, I've done a large number of overseas trips (100s) and only had trouble twice. Fortunately, the video shop in the USA allowed me to use their phone (before I had a mobile) and the one in Italy I had a mobile. I did have to phone a mate,in the UK to get a,number to ring (as the 0800 numbers don't work from overseas).
You also have to get a parking pass for the National Park. We get ours at the visitors center between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Also on Wednesdays you can ride a bike or hike Cades Cove. No vehicle traffic.

There is a NO PARKING PRIVATE LOT sign at the front of the lot as you turn in. If you’re Eagle eyed, you can see it when Jeff is waiting to pull into the lot.

It's free to use your eyes and common sense. If it's pay to park everywhere else and all of a sudden you find an "open free spot" it's not. Look for the sign. I love it when it's painted on the ground and there are multiple signs and the only way you can miss them is by not looking.
I thought the first couple were considerate and understanding. Especially the girl, I can only believe that my own daughter would handle it this way. Of course they are not going to be thankful but understanding their own mistake and being understanding is really all you can ask for in these situations.
There are also signs on the opposite side of the lot, in front of the bushes. Since she was backed into the spot, they were directly across from her, right in her view, if she even looked.

At the same time get a new development of the scenery, settlement (housing style) in Gatlinburg, the weather an what not. I am from tropical country in Asia like almost like in Florida. This one guy, whose name is also Jeff, shows and gives parking and traffic flow tips. That's how we knew about the $10 Gatlinburg city garages, the Gatlinburg bypass, and so many other topics.
They think they found the magical free Gatlinburg parking spot but all of a sudden they learn that it's the MOST expensive spot in town, now THAT is magical !

I agree the signage is confusing. Signs covering a lot face OUTWARD at the entrances, but must face INWARDS within the lot. A good argument can be those signs do NOT cover the lot as they face outward from the lot toward the side road next to the lot. That said, the sign at the entrance is the key here. An appropriate no parking sign at the lot entrance is all that is usually needed to cover the entire lot. To add confusion, when the chain is down, one can call the entire side road a point of entry, in which case the signage becomes entry signage facing outwards. All said, a very confusing situation. Nothing on you guys as it is indeed the establishment in charge of signage. But I'd venture a little more effort placed in signage or markings would reduce the illegal parks.
When you turn into that lot from the street, there are signs in front of the bushes on the left side. They face INTO the lot. If one looks, they will see them.
So you’re telling me that if you’re pulling into a parking lot that has a sign posted to read as you enter it that says no parking you read it as “oh so no parking outside this lot but if I drive past these signs into the lot they’re posted at it’s free parking” that’s a lot of logic right there.
I have a suggestion for this particular lot: Since there’s signs posted on poles all around the lot, signs painted on the pavement around the lot and chains up around most of the lot, what’s the only thing missing? They need a couple of signs hanging across the parking lot and maybe some form of flashing sign at the entrance. The signs hanging across could be the kind like they use at used car lots to tell you about the manager’s special. 😂😂😂😂

Why are people on medication so stupid? Seizure medication, asthma inhalers, nitroglycerin for angina, epipens should all be on your person, you might not make it if someone is having to run to your car for these meds, also, if the car was stolen and not towed who are you going to phone for your medication then? I hate when people do this. I've seen this happen a few times on here, where they "have medication" in their vehicle. If it is true, then you know it was weaponized incompetence. They knew they were parking illegally, so they left their "medication" inside as a bargaining chip; a sense of urgency to induce guilt and false fault. You should start charging double when people do this, because they know darn well what they are doing, they are manipulating you.
If you park somewhere and look around and see a sign, even if it’s facing the opposite way just maybe you should walk around it and read it to see what it says

To add confusion, when the chain is down, one can call the entire side road a point of entry, in which case the signage becomes entry signage facing outwards. All said, a very confusing situation. Nothing on you guys as it is indeed the establishment in charge of signage. But I'd venture a little more effort placed in signage or markings would reduce the illegal parks.
When you turn into that lot from the street, there are signs in front of the bushes on the left side. They face INTO the lot. If one looks, they will see them.
So you’re telling me that if you’re pulling into a parking lot that has a sign posted to read as you enter it that says no parking you read it as “oh so no parking outside this lot but if I drive past these signs into the lot they’re posted at it’s free parking” that’s a lot of logic right there.

I have a suggestion for this particular lot: Since there’s signs posted on poles all around the lot, signs painted on the pavement around the lot and chains up around most of the lot, what’s the only thing missing? They need a couple of signs hanging across the parking lot and maybe some form of flashing sign at the entrance. The signs hanging across could be the kind like they use at used car lots to tell you about the manager’s special. 😂😂😂😂
There are never enough signs. Even with flashing warning signs, those would be missed also.

Why are people on medication so stupid?
Seizure medication, asthma inhalers, nitroglycerin for angina, epipens should all be on your person, you might not make it if someone is having to run to your car for these meds, also, if the car was stolen and not towed who are you going to phone for your medication then?

Of that last lady was upset about the parking and getting towed, she needs to talk to the city. But now days people don't like to abide by rules. And that is their problem. You handle these people with grace and understanding.😊😊

I didn't see the signage when I parked on Private Property. It must be public property because it's located downtown. Gees, the mentality of those that park illegally and get towed is amazing. I just love your illegal park videos, just to hear the lawbreakers pleas.

You can colour the signs neon orange. You can put big flashing lights around them and some still will not see them. Some people are just selectively blind.

I hate when people do this. I've seen this happen a few times on here, where they "have medication" in their vehicle.
If it is true, then you know it was weaponized incompetence. They knew they were parking illegally, so they left their "medication" inside as a bargaining chip; a sense of urgency to induce guilt and false fault. You should start charging double when people do this, because they know darn well what they are doing, they are manipulating you.
