Here is my animation I made about 23 years ago in 2001. it I made it for the Howard Stern TV show on CBS, but had no idea how I would film it, as I had no equipment to do it. I just knew how to make it. This is a NEW video of how it should have looked a long time ago, if I had the proper tools to do it myself. It's all done the old fashioned way of drawing everything, painting plastic cells with the characters on it and putting those plastic cells over backgrounds that i drew to go along with each scene. Then filming them one at a time and watching it back will give it illusion of movement. I used my scanner and cell flopped each cell onto a background and took a picture of it. Then I imported those images into Flash 5 and exported the video and imported those videos into pinnacle studio and added the original sound used in the old video. The audio is actual audio from a caller who called into the Howard Stern radio show. For the back story keep reading.
When I finished this animation, without any equipment to film it, I had a thought of taking an beginning animation class in Boston, thinking they must have something there I can do it with. So, that's what I did. I took the project to Boston and filmed the whole thing in one night. It took about 5 hours to flop down all the individual pictures onto a piece of glass and film it a frame at a time. Unfortunately, this wasn't the best system to film it with, as it was a video tape kind of device and when adding sound to it, it wouldn't match the pictures because the video tape frame rate was different than film. So, then I had a friend take the video and put it through his computer to slow down the video tape to match the sound. The quality of the video started to diminish a bit, but at least I had something to send to the show now thanks to my friend. I made a whole video tape cover for it, to look like a VCR movie case and sent it into the show. A few days later I got a call and a recording on the answering machine saying they liked the video and would like to use it and to call them back. I wrote down the number and the name of the person who called and erased the message immediately, for some reason. Now I wish I recorded it and saved if for my records. I called him back and he said he would like to use my video on the show, but the quality didn't quite work for him and wondered if I could clean it up. I said, "I think I cam." The idea was i had to scan each frame in on a computer scanner and give all these images to my friend and in order, he will put these numbered images into a video program, like windows movie maker or something like it, add the sound and save the video. So....I this means I had to set up a scanner to be able to scan and keep the images motionless as I scan one at a time. I used pins as registration marks on my cells. I taped a piece of card board to a scanner, with my pins on it, so i can match up the cells each time. I taped the background to the inside of the scanner lid and since I didn't have a computer or scanner of my own, I used the one at work and proceeded to scan on image at a time. Since the scanner takes more time to scan and not being just a single snap shot, I started after work at 3:00 pm and finished around 6:00 am, just in time to go back to work again. I gave all the images to my friend and he got to work of laying them all into the video program. The video was finished and I sent a copy back to the show. They were pleased with the results and I even got paid for it. The only thing is the video itself still didn't look great on TV, as they still had trouble, for some reason, formatting it to what they use. At least I got it on the show. For some reason I didn't have a copy of all those scans I did 23 years ago, I also had no reason to I thought because I didn't have a computer back then. So, now after all these years, I decided to finally make a good copy of the animation the way it should look. The only thing is I had to rescan all the images again, but now it's done again and her it is.
I uploaded the old video on TH-cam 18 years ago, when there was like 20 people on there using the site. TH-cam started February 14, 2005 and this video was my first upload to TH-cam on November 25, 2005. Unfortunately, for me, I don't use TH-cam properly and/or take advantage of how I could use TH-cam, so for being on there so long and barely having a following is more my own fault or maybe nOBODY cares about my content. I suppose it can be true in both cases. I have a feeling i am just not seen properly as I type into google "Howard Stern animation" and this old post does not pop up in the search. Much like other things I have done in the past and posted a long time ago don't show up and things other people post a week ago I see all over the place. I am clearly doing something wrong. It is what it is. As long as some of you are seeing it and I know that, it's good enough.

This genuinely looks like something you'd see on Liquid Television back in the day

Thanks man. I remember you. Did you have a radio show, or was that someone else? I remember your name for sure though. I just thought it would be funny to write the same comment here too. haha. It's at least an animation project that I've finished. I have a few unfinished ones.

Yeah, I thought maybe you have been gone for a while or something or maybe we met on some other social media page a long time ago and you were just getting on facebook now. When I saw the friend request I knew I knew you. We just haven't talked in a while.
