Maaaaan! I've been looking all over TH-cam and the Internet for this fix! Thank you for being straight forward and getting right into the fix too! I'm now a subscriber!
bro aint gonna lie, I was just about to throw my Andis in the garbage until I scroll through here and found your video and it helps so much now my machine is cutting brand new...thank you so much for making this video...
I have to break out the Denzel voice for this one ... "My Man!!" This video finally has my trimmers working the way they should be. I've had 5 sets of trimmers throughout my life. EIther they wouldn't cut close or they would cut too close or one side would be too sharp while the other was dull. I would take the trimmers apart and adjust the blades over and over and I would encounter the same problems. I saw your video and did what you said. I then preceded to give myself the best tape up I've ever had, including barbershops. They worked just as you said and how I Knew they should, with minimal effort. I had resorted to razors but now I can finally rely on my trimmers thanks to you. Thanks for the video!
I know the feeling bro, I had to learn how to do it myself but i've just learned about the power screw, I thought it had to be tigtened to the brink lol
the two screws that you have to remove on the inside first . mine are more of a circular looking screw inside of two black screws , i can't figure out how to take it off
Suggestion. Use a feeler gauge in determining your optimum gap between the armature and the coil base. That way, when you have already determined your optimum gap (minimum noise and max cutting power), then when it's time you have to re-adjust your armature gap again, you already have your baseline/optimum distance as basis using a feeler gauge to set the proper gap fast and accurate. Hope this helps.
Thank You! for your posts. The last couple months I've been fighting with my T-Outliner thinking it was blade alignment..nope..had that correct and down over the years of using it almost bought ne blades. DING DING my friend! Blade tension setting. Got that good! buzz back after watching and resetting. Thanks Again! Good Vids and only had to watch 2 both yours.
Do the flathead screws by the blade serve a purpose? Or the two screws for the housing? I adjusted mine and ever since I feel like they don’t hit the same especially when balding
I have a black t outliner and it has no black screws it just has 2 flat headed metal circles that you can't unscrew? The middle one to adjust the arm is still similar but why is mine different? Please respond as fast as you can...
+ADTheBarber yea I got the same two rivets also. is there anyway to adjust them with those in place? and anyway one can tell how to not buy the ones with rivets?
Oh no they arent the Wahls that i hear a lot about they are the Andis Slimline Pros that i hear a lot of people like. I got confused cuz i found a cordless Wahl trimmer that looks almost identical to the Slimline Pros n i get confused easily now after my brain surgury. Thanks for responding n for the vid on how to quiet down my t-outliners. I cant wait to fix them when i get back home from this trip. Keep up the good work man 👍🏽
Hey,bro I opened up my t outlines to clean them and in the process a part that look like a metal oval shape with a stem on it lol,I watched this video because you opened them up.i didn't see the piece..aby suggestions?
Hi,I have a problem. Instead you have the two black screws, I have two rivets.. The machine is noisy and I cant correct it because it has rivets.. What do you suggest I do?
Oh ok yea you know what it wasnt the Wahl i meant the Andis Slimline pro. I keep hearing great things about them. I just got them confused cuz they look similar but out of all the cordless trimmers ive seen or heard of the most common one ive been hearing about that everyone seems to like is the Andis Slimline Pro. Thanks for the help AD if you do end up piking one up please do a review im have a few questions like on run time, if they get hot quik and how loud they are.. Dunno if ill zerogap them cuz i wanted them mainly for kids but might just have to get 2 pairs to adjust to get that crisp line. Thank you for these vids really heping us aALL out
Any thoughts on those rivets yet? Mine has them as well. The arm seems off in comparison to this video, but not sure how to fix it. It makes me feel like I should return it.
Question bruh i opened mines just to take a look but in both your t-trims there were crews in mine though they have bolts & there's no way to take them out without breaking them so is my shit a knock off bootleg or what they still get the job done & I wish I could say I didn't feel shitted on
Thanks AD!! Im so glad that you did both the new and older t-outliner! The one that was giving me problems is the one i got from barber school 12 yrs ago so it helps that you did both. I appreciate you takin the time to make these vids to help us all out. Now im just looking into getting some battery powered clippers incase of a major blackout . Bout 3 years ago here in SD we had a major blackout that lasted almost 2 days n just so happened to be that i was just starting a HIGH skin taper wen the power shut off haha. Poor guy. But anyway thank you for this vid deffinately is gon help me fix my clipps wen i get home. Oh last thing- im most likely gon get either the cordless designers or the magic clips. But need a cordless trimer n most likely get the lithium ion by Wahl. Do you know if those can be adjusted? Not looking for a zero gap cus i wanna b able ta use them ine kids n itd just be safer but wud like to see if i can get them to cut a lil closer although i havent even used them
+Louie Garza I really dont have to much knowledge on the cordless clippers since ive never really used them much. But after your experience you have me wanting to go and purchase some just to be on the safe side. But i do plan on reviewing cordless clippers in the future. Sorry
+ADTheBarber Thanks!! Yea im just looking ta get a pair of pro cordless outliners. If you see or hear of any good ones please lemmee know :). Only ones i been hearing about lately are the Wahl lithium ions but dunno if they can be adjusted n i dunno how long they run off a single charge. Thanks for takin the time to respond. I deffinately appreciate it. Keep up the good work i was actually just watching another vid you posted on some other cordless clippers that wer kinda like the Oster 76s i think... Thanks AD
How do I adjust the armature on the new outliners? The old outliners had phillips head screws, and the new outliners looks like they have flush/rivets screws.
My bolts are flat? like with no grove for a phillips, it just has the hexagon screw in the middle, I got that out, but how do I take the other two out? it won't move and I don't want to mess it up, and I can't find a video to help, thanks if yall reply before I can figure it out
Great video...I am trying to decide amongst the following machines: 1. Andis T-Outliner 2. Andis Outliner II 3. Andis GTX Can the T-Outliner blade be used on the Outliner II? What is the difference between the Outliner II and the T-Outliner? Is the GTX the best? Which one should I buy to give me the sharpest cut? Any advice?
Mark Bromley the only difference between the outliner and the outliner 2 is the blade...( outliner 2 has narrower blade not a t blade) the only difference between the t outliner and the gtx is the color and the teeth on the blade
I have a set an the armature is actually touching the motor. It has really no room to play with as far as moving over. When I move over an it's not touching the motor then it's so far off that the blade is out of line with the tension arm. What could be the problem
I purchased a new shell, installed all the pieces & it operates. I need some fine tuning, but can’t figure it out. I’m local to DC, any suggestions on where I can bring it to have it tuned?
My andis m3 styliner is super loud. Doesn't matter how much I play with that screw it didn't quiet it. It pushes the cutting blade to one side and stops it from moving. How can I fix this?
I got a pair of masters that stopped working. I plugged em in & they made loud clanging then stopped. Now they don't even power on. Any ideas? You think moving this arm could help in any way?
What would cause the blade to no move at all? It’s as if the guard blade is pressed too tight and won’t allow movement. But if I adjust the tension any less the blades fall off. It’s driving me crazy. Any idea?
thanks for the video. i just adjusted my clippers and they work great! If you encounter clattering after adjusting, try loosening nut again, push up on the arm from where the triangle piece is where the screws go. lock the nut then put the two screws back on.
My shit still pulls but I cant do that since I have the newer kind I’ve only had these for a year I have sharpened blades and tension right and I have adjusted it 30 times if I press down on the blade it will just stop someone help this sucks
Lol not fake. Model G has rivets instead of screws. I guess andis caught on to people extending the life of their product instead of buying a new one lol. 🤷♂️
i just bought my first t outliner and i dont know what is wrong with them because i cant adjust the arm because it has no screws that i can unscrew because there is no spot for a screw driver to go into what do i do please help should I send them back or am i out of luck thanks
I have a question...I live in the Caribbean and I ordered an Andis T-outliner from the US its extremely loud, could this be the reason why or do i need a converter ?
had a circular key looking piece that fell out as soon as I opened my clippers and I don't want to close it until i put it back where it was... do you know where it fell from??
joecool97 try using a socket but it shouldn't break it. That nut attaches the motor to the back shell that and the black one over it with the hole in the center
YounginFamous Thank You so much! It turned out that my Andis T Outliner Trimmer was messed up by WD 40 and could've used a Fired. I'm glad I found out just in time. Now my Trimmers are working better. Now Using Andis Clipper Oil.
Man I've always wondered why my blades kept cutting uneven I went through 3-4 outliners thinking mines was defects well I had the same problem with my current one but now I'm gonna fix it
I knew my liner wasnt fried. My god i put my black GTX in the graveyard in my bottom metal rollingtool box years ago. Haha i just put a blade on it after i moved the arm a bit and now its HITTING without that loud noise. I used to turn it off QUICK thinking if i let that noise continue that it would fry my shit, i was trippen
In this video I hear you saying one is old model and the other a new model and they both have armature plates with screws, the older one tightened with Phillip screws and the newer one with star screws, honestly I don't know which planet where mine is manufactured although it says Andis on it and it looks exactly the same like these two here because they have the same power switch but unfortunately the armature plate is riveted down so there is nothing that I can do to adjust the armature should anything goes wrong with it. The model number is Andis T Outliner Trimmer Gray Model GTO 04710. I just hope that it is manufactured in planet earth .
the way i keep mine from over heating is i take frequent breaks while cutting turn the clippers off while looking at the clients head and i take about 5 minutes after each cut and spray with andis spray may not seem like it but almost never overheat
Maybe u made this video for me cuz I asked u this question... But... I have the gtx black outliners and there is no Phillips screws under the motor. There are regular bolts. And the arm is crooked.. Can I email you a picture or give you my email for some help?
I seem to have a problem with my bar. if i adjust the bar to where the blades are centered it is really noisy when i turn them on. if i adjust the bar further out to where the outliner sounds just right my lil blade sits off and not aligned right. What could be the problem? thanks in advance
Another one!☝Very informative vid that is, lol. QUESTION: Hey AD, how do you feel about the Andis GTX in comparison to the Andis T-Outliner? Keep up the good work.
+jaykob - Same clipper, save 20-30 bucks and get a the T-outliner and replace the blade with a promate GTX blade keep the stock blade for backup. Only difference is the blade on the GTX is better
Nate TheDaddy Good lookin out bro. I also heard someome else claim that the gtx is more powerful because it has a grounded plug or something like that. Although that doesn't make much sense because that's not the purpose of a plug with a ground. Amongst other things I've also heard that it runs cooler. What you said makes the most sense though.

ADTheBarber how do you adjust the arm if my hitters don't have the two black screws??
Do you adjust clippers? If so how much and can I mail it?
Yeaaa now you hooking people up reaaal good. Just don't start hitting up your eyebrows with it haha
the two screws that you have to remove on the inside first . mine are more of a circular looking screw inside of two black screws , i can't figure out how to take it off
any chance you can share info on this? I got the same kind
Suggestion. Use a feeler gauge in determining your optimum gap between the armature and the coil base. If you get the measurement for feeler gauge please post that'd be great
Man you got me on my toes today and I love it here
i dont have the model with the screws :(((( please help
???
@@JoseGarcia-ki4hn there's a model that comes with two rivets, they usually are black or silver, i have the same one
My new T outliner only has a center nut on the arm... the screws /attachments on either side are there but can’t be loosened anymore.

On the Motor Assembly why does the red cord break off on the grey side? You can get a New Andis Motor.
What u do to make straight lines ? When I shape up a client hair line? Or zero gap it on the T outliners.

So the factory off position is fixed to the left side. And the goal is to make the new off position fixed to the center.
supa dupa I just got a pair a few days ago, it was set to the left side as well, so does that mean it's off?

I have a question...I live in the Caribbean and I ordered an Andis T-outliner from the US its extremely loud, could this be the reason why or do i need a converter ?
Need an energy converter same thing happen when I went to Argentina
You might need a transformer also, I don't know though. I live in UK you see and thats how we bypass the loud ear deffening noise down here
I put a piece of sponge between the arm that was hitting near the transformer its quiet now and has max power
Iceberg slim yeah that works too, old skool
Iceberg slim use a 60 hertz frequency convertor
had a circular key looking piece that fell out as soon as I opened my clippers and I don't want to close it until i put it back where it was... do you know where it fell from??
It goes in the slot where the thick piece from the power cord goes.. It's to hang the trimmers
+It's MULE thank you!
+gabriel713281 no problem
My t outliers don't have 2 screws there rivits so I can't ajust my tension!!!! Is there something I don't know???? Someone pls help me😔
the GTX is v5000 or v9000 ??
What should you do if the nut doesn't move? Will it break?
joecool97 try using a socket but it shouldn't break it. That nut attaches the motor to the back shell that and the black one over it with the hole in the center

After about a week after i did this my machine started to pull hair on 1 side of the blade, have u ever came across this with urs
you have to tighten ur tension screw just a bit.. they start pulling when it comes too loose! easy fix
6.5mm socket and ratchet works best for that bolt
I made a gauge to set the armature, no fuss, set it correct ervry time.
That's a good idea. What did you make it out of?
Man I've always wondered why my blades kept cutting uneven I went through 3-4 outliners thinking mines was defects well I had the same problem with my current one but now I'm gonna fix it

seriously?

anyone know how to make it less noise
Great video! Knowledge is power!
works it in the same way for the andis gtx?
great video btw!
when these outliners overheat, is it because this process isnt done?
+Jason Dookie No, they overheat because of normal friction and any electronic device gives off some sort of heat, especially a magnetic motor.
+Kris Klekosky oh ok. thx man
No problem
the way i keep mine from over heating is i take frequent breaks while cutting turn the clippers off while looking at the clients head and i take about 5 minutes after each cut and spray with andis spray may not seem like it but almost never overheat
great info. I would have never resolve that clattering noise or the uneven of the blades
Thanks bro nice and clear. Great tutorial. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Question my guy, what makes my liners heat up so fast, like after been on for 3 mines
Free Carl Lee u need to keep blades oiled and have proper tension
No bro you need to actually remove/cut plastic off your clippers
Thanks a lot for the video, no one ever showed this too me, real one
NEW MODEL HAS 2 ROUND HEAD STUDS & HEX SCREW NOW. 1/2023.

+DreP 80777 I can do one on the GTX as well
+ADTheBarber That would be greatly appreciated. Thank you..
These trimmers keep clogging on me with coarse hair, it’s so annoying cause it make my haircuts take longer
Mine don’t have either of those screws lol they just flat
Alex maya mine either
v5000 or v9000 ?
Nice video AD👍
This helped a bunch. Thank you.
I seem to have a problem with my bar. if i adjust the bar to where the blades are centered it is really noisy when i turn them on. if i adjust the bar further out to where the outliner sounds just right my lil blade sits off and not aligned right. What could be the problem? thanks in advance
I have the same problem!
+Nate TheDaddy Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it!
***** - You can get those blades for 14-18 bucks. Beauty supply close to me sells them for 15 bucks
