Cant get enough wildfrost. Its nice to see a roguelike that makes the start difficult instead of having to get 30 min into a run to be stomped. Honestly criminal it's not on phone
I kinda wish it gave you more time to build your deck you're only given like 1 card and 1 companion and then you get thrown into some brutal fights, it feels like your deck gets stomped before you even get to start building it. They should take a page from StS's book and give you a few "small" encounters and then card rewards/events so it feels like the player has more agency. It is pretty fun though and the actual fights are hard but fair (most of the time)
@@Kenshi876 you definitely have less agency about the complete identity of the deck, but the thing is the few options you get are also very powerful. If you get a bad choice of 3 it can feel overly punishing tho.
This game makes you feel so smart and then so dumb in the space of 1 turn. I love it spoiler: was not expecting this comment to be so relevant to the first run of the video
The amount of times I've just completely missed my hero about to die or a key ally going down is staggering despite the game releasing just 5 days ago. Today I was up against the spicy monkey (if you know, you know) and thought "yeah I can win this" and forgot he attacks 5 times.
Well-deserved! It's like they've woken up in the middle of the night to take a sip from the water bottle on their night stand, and it's their piss bottle.
the gameplay is amazing but omg so is the art style, sound track, and sound effects! i adore the visuals and audio of this game so much and i can't wait to try it out myself when i get the chance
It's been one of the few Rogulikes in the past few years that has really captured my attention, usually I stop caring after I clear it once, but I want to keep running it back. It really tests your attention to detail, twice I've lost on the final boss when I had it completely in the bag and just made one misplay. You really need to check everything before taking any late-game actions, because there's just so many effects and stacked triggers! It really is a fun puzzle to work out, and it's kinda hilarious (and a little frustrating) when you make that one dire error, and your leader gets slow mo BASHED off the screen fml haha!
I really love this game, started playing it after watching you. At first I laughed at people saying the game was too hard but after many runs it feels pretty dang brutal. Looking forward to future updates.
1:19:46 holy shit, as soon as I saw him walk into the damage shield crab fight I 100% expected him to get dumpstered, he even had a deck that seemed like it would get hard countered by it, but he handled that fight _way_ better than i did when i fought it
I like this game, but most runs capable of winning follow the logic: "stack blings and take the path with the shop to buy crowns" because the advantage of having additional companions in play at the start of the game is strictly better than every other decision that can be made 99% of the time. That waters down the decision trees that keeps other deckbuilders like StS infinitely replayable,, which isn't a good thing.
I've just had the horrifying realization that I will probably finally have an NL series I enjoy that will end with no explanation randomly... which I've heard is a thing that happens with a lot of his other games but has never happened to me because I usually watch SAP.
@@controversie9492 I disagree, I think it's a an awesome way to self regulate "ascensions" from slay the spire. I enjoyed this mechanic in inscryption and I enjoy it here.
@@styxrakash4639 the reason i think its bad is eventually youre going to have an absolutely broken team comp that is just one shotting everything, then you beat the final boss, and then what. If you beat the game with an insanely overpowered comp then you wont be able to beat it again. also i just feel like its sort of a cop-out to having a secret/true boss that is really hard or unique
The best games Northernlion plays are the ones too complicated for chat to backseat on. There is nothing better than watching Lion make a silly mistake and proceed to go up in flames. It’s why the Shotgun King series was so fun to watch. The chat couldn’t help but try to walk him through a perfect run, but they failed miserably.
I'm curious how, I've tried making Poison work so many times and I just can't. I feel like I get all the pieces in place and then the enemy just kills me faster than I can rack up reasonable numbers of Poison damage on them - feels like the best I can hope for is like 3 Poison - 6 damage over 3 turns, pretty bad - at a time unless I take Fungun, and he attacks roughly once every millenium. Every time I've gone Poison build I've just wished I could just hit them with direct damage instead, it feels like I'm missing something.
@@masterplusmargarita The key to my build was fungun and an item (I forget what they call items) that passes poison onto someone else when an enemy dies. After that, a bit of frenzy, some other poison characters, some cards to lower the countdown, etc, all helped out, but without that item, it never would have worked
I'm loving this game but damn some of those encounters are brutal to be that early on the run. They're more than you, do more damage and have basically the same attack speed
This is NL's favorite deckbuilder now which means it will trick us into thinking it will be a lasting mainstay on the channel for 8 episodes before he rage quits and never plays again
Intended, there is only so many units that apply snow during an enemy attack. You can even snow things that don't have a counter (Smackback for example) and they don't smackback.
When nl said "when u start looking at urself in shop windows to make sure Ur hairs not bad that's when u should shave it" my fifteen year old ass is so becoming an egg

"this is free"
Woke up my wife cause I winced too hard
Brother just got done clowing on people who asked him to put it on Foxee in the last battle too.
I audibly gasped
23:13 has to be one of my favorite misplays. The confidence with which the play was done, the look of "oh my god, no!", it was glorious.
Especially after just calling out the effect and playing the card to see the effect.
It’s equivalent to him pilling the swan in SAP
Wholesome seeing him take chat's advice

This game is actually really fun to watch AND play. A rare beast.
100%
I was actually skeptical to start watching because hearthstone and Spire are so boring for me to watch, but this one is quite understandable
Most games are fun to watch and play, just need the right person playing them.
@super_770 MMORPGs fall outside of that "most", agreed?

Thankfully the videos are doing great on YT
Nothing lasts except SAP I’m afraid
Give it some time to permeate through! Even Sap started somewhere!
The beat drop when you play your first attack is so hype
I’ve played it since it came out and never even noticed!! That so cool

after 3 bosses its almost impossible.

I really like how the card play acts as a turn timer. Interesting twist to the energy/mana system.
I love how NL is always just a _little_ slow to realise he has lethal
