My cedar chest is still lovely. And has seasoned through the years! Made by Amish craftsmen years ago, with a striped inside of different grains - and the special hinge they make...I got it on sale for $99. The Amish gentleman who sold it to me, walked it across the park to our house in the rain...and asked me for a heavy towel to wipe it. The finish was unharmed. I could not believe the craftsmanship. And decades later, when I open it, lean down and sniff...there is still that faint whiff of lovely cedar..

    Greetings Sir Humphrey,
I have a title for this amazing piece! The first thing that came to my mind is the eye of the tiger, so I personally would call it "Tigers Eye," it's amazing how the very center of the bowl looks just like a tigers eye & when you rotate the bowl, I can't help but feel like the tiger's rolling just like a cat at play!
I hope you save those amazing shavings & make something special with a very pale amber resin to complement the colors within the wood but not take away from the shavings natural wood color.
Another home run Sir Humphrey 👏👏 👍❣
The ring you showcased was incredibly gorgeous! It draws your eye into it, I keep going back to gaze into the grain! Absolutely Mesmerizing!!
Paul, awesome platter & thank you so much Sir for your service 🤗 👍 ✝️ God bless & I pray He keeps His hedge of protection about all of our Military, active, retired, & especially our disabled veterans, me & mine send you all respectful loving 💞 prayers 🙏 & hugs 🤗 Robyn 🙋‍♀️& Bill - (DAV - Navy Officer) 🙋‍♂️

Beautiful work Rod. When I had my millwork company, we did several hundred jobs of Cedar, everything from rough sawn cedar siding to beautiful clear cedar for millwork. Cedar is one of my favorite woods to turn, despite the fact that the silica in the wood requires me to re-sharpen my tools more often than other woods do. This bowl's grain patterns & colors (plus your skill at turning it) makes it a beautiful and unique piece. Good job! Your videos are well-done, too (this from an old media specialist.)--Rod Eisenbise, "Grandpa's Workshop" Colby, KS

You sir are a magician. I think Cedar is one of the most beautiful woods there are. My neighbor has a wood stove that he uses in the winter time, and once in a while he'll burn a piece of cedar that's already halfway gone, but it just smells wonderful. Even Cedar by itself, fresh-cut, smells great. Marvelous job. I love how you are so compassionate about what you do. Thanks for the nice videos. Your military service is very much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Rod,
That grain is so wonderful, you really made it pop! And the shape is simple, yet beautiful. Well done!
I love cedar as well, easy to turn, beautiful to finish, and the smell is just phenomenal!
The reason you get so many subscribers, I think, is that you hit the magic mix of craftsmanship, talent and a narrative that is exceptional!
Keep up the good work. Semper Fi!

I like the fact that you give simple but helpful bits of information with your work. I'm a first time watcher and would love to see some turns with multiple pieces of scrap wood turned with grain at angles.
