Interview with Dutch drummer and composer Mira Burgers by Coen Witteveen.
Mira Burgers started drumming from the age of five, when she saw Oscar Kraal in the Gelderen Doom playing with Anouk behind his blue kit, she knew she wanted the same thing. Her parents arranged a lesson with Oscar Kraal, and after that her head couldn't be turned any more. She wanted to be a drummer. Since then, everything has been dedicated to her passion and dream. In 2018, she graduated from Rock City Institute with a 9.6. In 20 years, she developed into a musical, versatile drummer with her own style. Her groove and sound are especially distinctive. To creativity and her looks she also pays a lot of attention. Being authentic is important to Mira, she tells a story with her drumming. For her drum videos “INSPIRED BY” she delves into all kinds of drummers and styles. An interesting way to continue developing yourself
With The Cool Quest she played at major festivals such as Zwarte Cross, Main Stages, various Liberation Festivals, etc. And she toured at home and abroad. With Jarlentji (FunX/3voor12 Talent) she participated in De Grote Prijs Van Nederland, De Popronde and played at Booster Festival. She also loves studio work and TV or radio performances. She has been a guest at DWDD, 3FM, Radio 2, Klokhuis etc. and with The Cool Quest house band at the TV broadcasts of the Olympic Games (Studio Peking). She participated in a Martin Verdonk Master Session, recorded in various studios such as: Wisseloord, Woodstock, The Atelier, Sandlane and De Moor.
Mira has had lessons from people such as Brian Frasier Moore (Pink / Justin Timberlake), Cora Coleman Dunham (Beyoncé / Prince), Oscar Kraal (Anouk / Candy Dulfer), Juan van Emmerloot (Snowy White), Bram van den Berg (Krezip / U2), Tim van Delft (De Staat), Michael Schack, Martin Verdonk et al. Fine names from the international circuit begat her a second place at the Hit Like A Girl Contest Worldwide in 2017.
