Well, it's called a two-point and I don't think it's a matter of UK and US....I can do both, though it is harder for me to sit it ;) And for the trot....we post just like...any....other...English rider...? Thanks:)
The girl next to the paint horse needs to keep her legs on each side of the horse, I think she’ll be docked points for that. When she posted, she had her feet out.
actually this is an academy equitation show and judges for academy like their legs off the horse, huntseat or saddleseat. they actually get more points for having their legs off. didnt mean to attack btw
Ik personally I had a really bad injury that causes my toes to paint out a little more than people “like” which also makes it so my legs come off the saddle a little more. Don’t mean to be mean but you never know what has happened to someone or if that’s the reason they have there legs off the saddle more than a typical rider may. Again not trying to be mean at all
I wish they did shows like this in England 😔😔 in every class you have to canter in if you're over 12 and my pony gallops of in canter at shows.. Any tips??
some show horses/ponies dont like short reins, sometimes it makes them want to break theough, like jockeys in races shorten their reins to make the horse go faster so maybe loosen a bit if u have short reins
Tomorrow is my first show, I have a few questions. I am in two classes Best Trot and Best Walk (even if I can canter I don't feel confident :U) Should I put my hair in a bun or keep it in plaits? Also can I wear my paddock boots? What will I be judged on?
in hs they like tall boots better, but mostly its judged on how shiny your boots are. as long as you wear a hairnet your fine but they like buns better.
+Emilie Brewster I'd try lunging exercises and work on collection and control. Maybe try a different but such as an English Pelham bit?? I used that bit for the pony I ride (not the paint but a different one) and it helps a lot when needing more control. Just some suggestions hope that helps :)
Hi! No one will probably see this in time but, my first walk trot show ever is on Saturday! But I am really nervous, I need to work on keeping my heels down and staying in a nice jog. It is western and I am really nervous... does anyone have any tips?
Well sorry for the late reply haha but one thing I've learned is to really display yourself once you're out in the ring and not hug the railing (like I did in this video) and also, if your horse has a slow jog, make sure to speed him up into a WORKING trot (not the slow jog thing I was doing in the video) and make sure the judge sees you. Cut across the ring so they notice you. These are just some tidbits I've learned hope they help for your next show :)
The girl who is on the paint needs to put her back straight she's leaning toward. Most of the riders have their feet out, They need to put them right under the saddle and push their heels down. no hate
Thank you! :) Hum...my tips are.... be prepared for anything and don't burn yourself out too quick warming up before your actual classes start. ;) Also, stay off the rail so the judges will notice you more! (which I did not do in this class) And don't worry if you do terrible your first try, everyone does. :) and last but not least, BREATHE. lol XD Hope that helps, I'm no expert I honestly haven't been showing that long.
Showing is a ton of fun but at first it can be a little stressful. Pressure can cause you to screw up in things you normally do without thinking about, like picking up the right diagonal. Stay calm and remember the basics: heels down, thumbs on top, sit up straight and you'll be great. Try not to get frustrated. Also try to stay away from any horse's hind end, even if they don't kick. Don't be afraid to circle or cut across if you have to.
I’m having my first horse show tomorrow and watching these have given me more confidence in it! It seems very laid pack! ^^
I am working on a show in march and even though its at a very familiar place I am still scared

My horse and i sadly can only do walk trot classes currently because she can’t handle herself at a canter lol
same. i’m showing a pony i have been rehbbaing next week and i are ready for walk trot canter but she has no breaks

O like it good job
Could I ask you something in the UK we sit back in trot and canter but in the US you sit forward is that the way they teach?? Well done for 6th xx

you can do either. as long as it's neat. make sure to wear a hairnet! you *can* wear paddock boots & chaps, but tall boots are best.
Okay thanks! :)
Plus wear gloves. For my first two shows I had to borrow someone else's gloves which was kind of a hassle so just bring your own

Do they do sitting trots too?
Gladdis and Damitri sometimes they do it just depends on the show
I depends on who the judge is
In western pleasure they do

You should really trim her/his mane because it looks not back but ruff and in English shows you want a short come and pulled mane
Isabelle Sharman My teacher doesn't want to cut it because it's so pretty! We were going to braid it but we ran out of time.
Yeah, I think it's more of how your trainer teaches you...:) You're supposed to know how to do both but...idk...
lol said that 2x now xx
