On full fuel tank , had the car caught fire . No one could get close to help him , he would have surely perished . The stupidity of a track design that could trap a car like that is astonishing .
It was not the track design that was at fault but the failure of the anti roll hoop due to a bad design, if it had not fail then the car would not of flipped over the tyre barrier. The fia has tighten up the regulations to prevent it from happening again.
Nothing to do with the track design mate. It was a freak accident. In a different time without those catch fences the car would’ve bounced into the crowd and if it was a car from 20 years ago it would’ve definitely exploded into flames and hundreds would’ve been dead. Its like when TH-cam Tiktok millionaire talking about life try to sell courses, the background music sounds so serious
I really thought they would've motion smoothed the slow mo of the crash to make it more cinematic but they always leave the choppy framerate for some reason.
Nico Huuuuulkenberg: I'm hanging here like a cow 🐄
Zhou: Me too 😑
People were quick to jump and blame George for this but it was just a racing incident that resulted in a unfortunate crash but a fortunate result. People forget that George leaving his car meant he gave up his chance to continue the race. And then the Halo... It doesn't just look better it is just BETTER!
F1 fans just like to grasp at straws to find even the smallest of things to criticize drivers over. So many of them are incapable of enjoying the sport if they can’t despise half of the drivers while they’re at it.
@victoriaweasley7807 the majority of these idiots criticising Russell would struggle to drive round a normal corner without crashing and blaming someone else....
That halo was protecting him while he was skidding upside down wtf.
I've seen many crashes in racing especially in NASCAR. But this was one of the scariest crashes ever. Really Glad he survived that. God Bless and Major Respect to Guanyu and Formula 1 Racing.
slowed down nicely by the time it reached the elastic fence -- what was scary in it?
@@joanyadhatanif there is a fire, he's done!! different from Grosjean. Since Zhou is stuck! That's how scary it is..
yeah but we didn't see smoke.. did we?@@leoqueen2116
Pocas carreras de NASCAR has visto😂
Aterrador: espantoso, horrible, horrendo, horroroso, espeluznante, horripilante, estremecedor, tremendo, terrible, tremebundo, terrorífico, pavoroso, turbador
Te recomiendo el Ajedrez para que no pases miedo 😅
Grosjean's crash was scarier. Car split in half and he was in flames more than 20 seconds. You should find videos where he explained what happened while he was trapped in the car
I was watching this on the TV, you know it's bad when they don't show the replay. Glad he was fine
I guess if I had to be in a car crash, and I could choose the car I was in, it would be an F1 car, because they are safer than a five star EuroNCAP rated car.
I was watching this at home live, that shit was scary af holy fuck man.
me too, with my cousin. we at first didn't realize a crash happened until it showed the replay.
Try being right next to it in the grandstands.
Never watched this but the added sound effect alone turn me away, why try and make up a sound when they have ACTUAL sound from that crash... Who watches this?
I'm not a safety expert but the gap between the tyres and the fence really scares me - if that car was on fire, Zhou would have been screwed.
there’s something so elegant about seeing a car go flying and flayling it’s wheels around like a cars character
It was so kind of Russel climbing over the barrier to help Zhou after that terrible crash!
My heart skip a beat suddenly😢
Looking back now, he's so lucky he flipped over that tyre wall and hit the fence. Imagine the impact of hitting that upside down at full speed
OH MY GOD!! RUSSEL CRASHED!!!
oh and there is another one
the drama sauce is dripping thick on this once again
"This is what we all come to Silverstone for"
The only reason Russell tried to help is he caused the collition, he was in the wrong there.
Season 5 of DtS was basically just Zhou's crash.
This makes you realise the difference between being rivals and being enemies
Reasons to not watch Drive To Survive: It takes 20 seconds from start to get to the first corner...
But gotta say the that camera angle to the crash is very good, much better than what I saw on the broadcast
remember seeing this live on TV, all we saw was a shower of smoke and sparks, car parts flying around and an upsidedown streak of red and white and then nothing for ages. terrifying
When this happened, I was watching with my apartment's balcony door open to let some fresh air in.... I shouted so loudly in shock and surprise my neighbours came over to see if I was okay! I then replayed them the crash (I had recorded it due to time zone differences), and they were SHOCKED.
Thanks JULESSSSSS♥️♥️♥️
I love how they all compete at the highest level in racing, yet they all care about each others safeties.
"Is he alright"
The slow mo sound effects clearly added in later were borderline comical
The video of it it's amazing usually the cam doesn't catch it or shots to the ground
This is a true sportsmanship
i really enjoyed the insights you provided in this video-great analysis! however, i have to say that while Zhou's crash was dramatic, i can't help but wonder if the media sometimes overhypes these incidents for ratings. it's part of the sport, but should we really be glorifying such dangerous moments? just a thought!
i absolutely hate the fact that every other commentary line is a different commentator
I remember that episode so glad he survived
When I watched the crash live, I said the same as Russell, I really thought that I just witnessed a tragedy, thank god that wasn't the case
The Halo has been the best safety thing ever. Many crashes that the drivers involved have been saved by the Halo. I think Senna could also be alive if this safety feature was made back then.
Thanks for Halo and God.Thanks to them, Zhou's life and his driver's life were saved.
I really thank to Halo and God.
George russell, i hope you win alot of championship, and stay grounded, such a good hearted kid. No regard for his position, his car status, but his instincts brought him into helping a fellow driver.
The guy is dangerous. What are you smoking? I would like some too 😂
he caused the impact?
he has no regard of the position because he is out of the race... And he is the one that caused it
@@ronweasley5445 gasly caused it
@@theryaman6578 russell literally closed a gap with the full awareness there was a car already rightfully there
The episode is 3 of session 5
Halo is a angel and Russell a gentleman ❤
george was the one who caused the crash in the first place
@@cole003fJust say you don’t watch Formula 1 races. Russell had contact on the right from one of the Alpha Tauri’s, sending him left into Guanyu. It was a racing incident and nothing more.
@@cole003fblud is on a hate crusade to george russell, he's better and i wouldnt believe you would help another person like russell did in the video
Whoever came up with the halo is a genius
Why do Netflix make it so dramatic? It was bad but this is next level
Zhou **crashes**
Jost Capito: "Who was that upside-down, I think in the Alfa? It looked bad!"
Toto Wolff: "George has a crash! Crash George!"
CAN THIS GODDAMN MERCEDES TEAM JUST STOP CARING ABOUT NOTHING BUT THEIR OWN ASSES!?!?!? 😡😡😡😡😡
“You watch a million videos but that was quite a shocking three seconds”
Always wanted to see the helmet or dash cam footage of the entire crash. I assume the footage was destroyed in the crash otherwise surely something like that would be deemed cool and interesting enough to release.
imagine if it caught fire, he probably wouldnt have made it.
As far as i know Latifi got a monster start too
Netflix milking tf outta this
It wasn't even that bad, it just looked it
They should have shown it at full speed. The slow motion takes away how big it was
The roll bar structure above the driver collapsed under the tremendous spinning forces, without the Halo this accident would not have been survivable.
He absolutely still would have survived without the halo, everybody can stop staying that “it’s the best thing to happen in F1”.
The rollhoop got destroyed tho. There was nothing to protect him between the helmet and the ground besides the halo. It may not have 100% saved him in the moment but it sure as hell guaranteed his safety towards the fence.
With these types of accidents we can thank the halo that has prevented many fatal accidents
Halo was by no means the difference between life or death in this crash.
Thank god Henry Serttees father never let his death be in vein even after so many years
Silverstone 2022. Sainz , after he won the race, in the colldown room said "I wish I didn't see that".
At that moment, I pray for zhou
Is this from Drive to survive on netflix? It is strange. I just tried to view this clip in the episode, and the whole Zhou accident is not treated in the same way at all; much shorter and less dramatic. Are there 2 versions? Can anyone explain?
Hope George's eyelash extensions weren't harmed
Okay, this made me bust out laughing. 😂
Thankfully everything is safe about the fences & cars today that has prevented something like that from happening.
@@hijackazzIt actually happened in Le Mans with a Mercedes. The car flew towards the spectators and exploded, killing more than 80 people, and the driver.
