Fred's perspective on stuff is so interesting. My respect for athletes that are able to run injured at a major championship and still medal is super high. That's just heart and determination.

Really great candid interview from Fred Kerley. I really appreciate the opportunity to hear what he was really thinking and feeling during those times. Also, much respect for taking that risk to run while injured and to do so in a way that didn't significantly worsen the injuries.
And I have to add, Fred Kerley does have a great lean. If I was coaching a kid on the best way to lean, I would say to copy Fred's. He doesn't start to lean too early; he doesn't overly exaggerate the lean (thus causing himself to slow down); and he leans with his chest and not his head, which actually will get the torso ahead.

You have to get to really know Fred,he is not going to let many people in his personal space. He doesn't talk a lot because that just him. When he was blamed for losing the 4x400m relay at the World Indoor Championships a few years ago. That really bother him but he didn't let anyone know he just kept working harder and harder to get where he is at today.

Great interview, Anson! I LOVE Fred Kerley. I always suspected exactly what he said here . . Every young athlete who has any potential, in probably any sport, should listen to what he says, then watch some clips of his top performances. I've always believed that scary saying, It Will Make You Better . . If It Doesn't Kill You First . . P.S. Keep that gardening going! I do that too! It brings us back to what we truly are . . .

@@christasmith6004 Bracy told the story somewhere. I think it was like 1am in Eugene, they just left an IHOP or something and being friends starting talking trash to each other, and one of them wanted to settle it in a barefoot race to a light post. They decided not to since they had the 200m the next day. Something like that.
