A review of the Autel MD808 Professional OBDII Scanner

The Autel MD808 can be used to read and erase engine codes and other OBD codes. It can reset oil service light, electronic parking brake EPB, diesel particulate filter DPF, battery monitor system, and air bag SRS light. It can read and save live data. It's professional functions include reading modules that are specific to whatever brand vehicle the scanner is plugged into.

UPDATES: SAS in the Scan menu is steering angle sensor, not airbag SRS, SRS is found elsewhere in the tool. Additional vehicles supported not shown in the video include Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, SEAT, SKODA, Saab, Smart, Sprinter, VW, and Vauxhall

That looks like quite a good tool for the price! If I could afford something like that at the moment and didn't already have a scan tool, I'd be all over that.

I had the AUTEL MD 802 it was great at the time for the money . NOW their is this MD 808 PRO If It HAD throttle body relearn ALL SO I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT RIGHT AWAY .

Thanks - very interesting tool. At $249 its not cheap - I didn't see you using the screen to select anything, does it have touch screen function or can one only navigate the menus using the buttons?
no touch screen :( ..... touch screens seem to start at the $400+ scanners unless it's a bluetooth adapter for a phone app

My current scan tool cost $400 and only gives generic ABS codes. That doesn't help me. I need one that will give me a specific code and tell me which wheel has the bad sensor / bearing (we have GM and Toyota cars)... so can it do a live data scan on a specific wheel ABS sensor to see if it trips up (jumps)as you rotate wheel / drive along?
I could only test it on my chevy van and I can't find any live data ABS stuff
Can you view live fuel trim and fuel blocks with this?

Can this read oil or transmission temperature?
I found transmission temp, might read oil temp on cars that support it, i only found coolant and air temp otherwise.
Does the scanner have bi-directional capability and does it display misfire count?
It does display misfire count.
It actually is bidirectional in the sense that it can reset the oil light, EPB, SAS, DPF, and BMS. It's not going to remotely turn on the lights or abs pump etc. like the $$1000++++ scanners.

Everybody says it because it's the law to disclose it. I gave them advertising in return. No different than you going to a job and getting paid in exchange for your efforts.
Could you please take a look under the TPMS function if this tool has that capability and see what the options are there? I'm curious if it can only read live data from the sensors or if it can register new id's for those in the ecu. If you need a car to select that would need sensor id's programmed, use a 2008 Nissan Maxima as your vehicle selection. Thanks for any info

I plugged it in but I can't see anything because none of my cars have TPMS, the module has to be there for the scanner to read it. I don't think this scanner has TPMS function.
When you were in the Asian I did not see a Mazda will it diagnose 2010 Mazda does anybody know?
What component tests does it perform?
Has anybody seen a video or screen shots of what the short term/long term fuel trim chart looks like? This unit looks like the launch system hardware and a review of that shows the chart to be marginally useful. I'm hoping that Autel has done a better job with the software.

Hi there, did you ever use this on your first generation Mini Cooper? I could have just had a bum plug, but I bought one and it wouldn't fit the OBDII port on my 2005 MINI Cooper so I returned it. I wanted to diagnose and possibly remove the Airbag light on my 05 R52 MINI convertible.
I did use it on my mini, probably a bum plug or something!

They ask me to, need to build up a channel with followers and views first, some people can build a channel fast, but it took me 7 years before someone sent me anything lol

Thanks man! I would say to experiment and get a feel for making videos and see if you enjoy it. Possibly even make videos on different topics and see which one you like best.
Does it include ALL SYSTEM as in MD802 All systems , or only 4 systems ?
the MD808 PRO is a combo of the Maxicheck Pro and the MD802 (I don't know how many systems the listing doesn't say), the regular MD808 is 4 systems
Does this scanner work the ABS pump remotely? IE you can bleed the ABS pump using this scan tool?

Damn, Ok. Been looking at their scan tools but it seems like they only offer the free updates on their non bidirectional scanners. Updates for even their lowest end on is $295 a year.
Does it read TCC transmission data on GM vehicles?
yes it does, can read slip count, shift time, temp, and tons of other things

I haven't used the MD802 ,but the MD808 has more functions like the SRS, DPF, and battery monitoring system

a DIY Car Guy , so I bought the scanner you have and I have issue when I connect my scanner to the computer via USB mode. my computer doesn't recognize it. did you had trouble with that ?
