Tapper's a lib propagandist which is why he is such good pals with the likes of Colbert. Tapper admitted to lying by omission when it came to Obama. Tapper admits "Obama said things that weren’t true and got away with it more for a variety of reasons, and one is the media was much more supportive of him." One of those things is how he and Clinton helped create, arm and fund ISIS in Libya and Syria.

When Jake Tapper worked for ABC, I felt he was really tough on former Pres. Obama. I wondered whether he really just had it in for Obama or Democrats in general. Once the Trump phenomenon started, I realized that Tapper was hard on everyone aspiring to and in power. He's a skeptical reporter, which is what he ought to be, just like the rest of us should all be skeptical listeners. It was also refreshing to hear him refuse to predict how all this is going to turn out. That's honest and again the answer of a good reporter, who insists on not making the news about himself and his pronouncements. Bill O'Reilly's comment is a perfect reflection of what the right wing, the president and Republicans today generally believe in. Only popularity matters: not moral behavior, not solutions to problems, not the truth, just making oneself popular. This allows you to lie even about your popularity in order to appear popular when you're not, as Pres. Trump does every day. Glad Mr. Colbert had him on and let him talk.

Jake Tapper is LITERALLY saying the EXACT SAME THINGS that I told my husband just hours before this aired. Almost verbatim. Wow. He speaks for me. I believe original sources support what he is saying, because those are things I myself have utilized to do the same. He has my support. I thank God he is willing to ask the pointed questions I myself want to ask the powers that be. I don't respect publications that go easy on politicians & refuse to hold them accountable for their words & deeds. Each choice those ppl make has consequences. We need to be informed. I respect any journalist that aides us in that in a credible way.

Most journalists are ... and the term "mainstream media" is meaningless anyway... not that there arent problems or anything ... but mostly they are just "people" not some global conspiracy of evil liars.
The reason so many people "hate" certain news outlets (and Im not counting FOX as a news outlet btw) is a case of "shoot the messenger" because you dont like what the message is. No matter if its true or not.
One thing the news really has to get rid of however is to much monetary incentive as well as "breaking news!" and "24 hour live coverage"... its a bad habit of sensationalism. Just makes people anxious... NOT better informed.

The difference here though is that the 1950's GOP, or any one party, were not a hairs breadth away from having sufficient concentrations of power in all the legislative branches and state houses to call a Constitutional Convention and rewrite the rules completely for ever. Nor was the entire GOP committed to a general ideological purity drive of absolute orthodoxy that brooks no dissension.

I do believe that is the scariest thing I've read since trump was elected.
But with about 1/3rd of the constituency behind them, they are only doing through being complete weasels. While it depresses me that so many citizens are caught up in being horrible people, I still think it can swing back. Also as I am sure you are aware, there will be a tomorrow, it just won't be business as usual. In any case, as soon as I can, I am getting tf out of this country. I will literally not be staying around to see how this turns out. A lot of people said they would leave if he won ... but nobody really thought he would win and so nobody left, however I am actually going to leave and I believe some others are as well.
There may never be a WWIII, no nuclear strike, and no mass destruction, but it only takes a few seconds for it to happen and in a few seconds lives can change permanently. No one ever thinks 'something' is really going to happen to them and for most part really dramatic things don't happen to people, but America is a problematic country as it is and this is just as good a reason as any to leave.

I like how Jake lets the applause breaks happen, refocuses his thoughts, and maintains his train of thought. He has a true journalistic countenance, staying bent on asking hard questions and giving straight answers. Democrats and Republicans have a way of sticking to their rhetoric and as a journalist, I am constantly inspired by Mr. Tapper's adherence to the facts, regardless of the public's opinions towards them.

Colbert is great with political guests, but pretty terrible with celebrities.
He lost his mojo when he left the Colbert Report for prime time. There's a lot less freedom with his new show. Watch old clips of Colbert doing celebrity interviews on his cable show and I think you might be impressed with what he was capable of...
I was a pretty regular watcher of the Colbert Report so I know what you mean. I'm referring to the Late Show specifically. He seems to get tongue tied and not able to think of something witty or funny to say.
Aj Meyers well the difference between Colbert and Late Night is that Colbert’s character was MEANT to make the guests uncomfortable and to interrupt them. That was the joke.
Colbert, the real person, seems to struggle with when to let celebrities talk and when to talk himself. Interviews like this Tapper situation work out well because he just let Tapper talk. But even the bit with the apple was awkward because he wanted to get to the “bit” he wanted to say.
So I think that Colbert works when the guests have enough charisma to work with him. But if he has someone with less charisma, someone he has never met before, or someone who doesn’t have much to say, he gets awkward and weird.
