That Sir is a work of art and you should be proud. The lighting effects are fantastic and then sound too? The Nostromo was and still is one of the best realised spaceships in cinema and I'm glad to see it lives on.
Excellent work! One of my favorite films! I remember seeing Alien in the theater back in ‘79 not knowing anything about the movie. Ridley Scott made a masterpiece film that still holds up.
It looks amazing. I built and painted all of the Halcyon kits, except this one, which I regret not picking up. Back then, I found an outlet that was selling the Aliens, Alien&Egg and the Alien 3 running dog Alien. I bought all 30 of them and built and painted and sold them. They have amazing detail for vinyl and styrene kits that could rival a polystone statue when cleaned up and built.
Alien was one of my favourite sci-fi movies. I introduced my kids to horror with it. Love the model and the sound effects. Brings me back to old times. Thanks for sharing Boyd!
You set them up, they will forever be chasing the high of their first horror film and comparing all horror movies to Alien. Actually my dad did the same. Good on you!
@@petermerz2704 Thats pretty accurate - almost everything is tame by comparison. Alien and The Thing are two iconic movies. Still havent found anything more scary myself!
Love your work, Boyd. Would like to see what these dioramas look like with a higher resolution video. Maybe recording the vid with camera on a tripod and the ship on a lazy suzan? Keep up the great work! Truly inspiring!!
Last night the original video you made came up in my suggestions. I’ve watched it before, as well as part 2. Looked for part three. Guess I just had to wait 24 hours. That was weird.
Really enjoyed seeing this build when you did it. Wanted that model but it was a bit expensive for me at the time. In fact it was the most expensive model Halcyon produced i think. For the floodlight underside I would use a row of leds under the base so It would shine through the floor. Bit like you would light registry on a star ship.
I built most of the Halcyon Kits (APC, Dropship, Power Loader, Narcissus, Sulaco, Alien Warrior & Alien from Alien III) - the Vinyl kits were out of my price range lol
Excellent work, you really nailed the look of those rock formations too. This is a bit of a non sequitur, but if you ever build MacGyver's Jeep, you could use the exact same paint scheme as on your Nostromo. :)
This is one of my favorite movies! I got plans in the works for the 3D printing out M577 Armoured Personnel Carrier USS Sulaco 3D Printing Model UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship 3D Printing Model Power Loader 3D Printing Model Ellen Ripley 3D Printing Figurine Alien Xenomorph 3D Printing Figurine Alien Queen 3D Last is the eggs This keep my printer going for a bit
True it is detachable from the refinery platform but it also served as the main control deck for the whole thing. So technically it is the Nostromo or part of it. The escape shuttle used at the end is a totally separate ship.
@@TrekWorks Wow, things we learn after so many years. huh. I've seen this movie uncountable times and I never realized, because it wouldn't make any logical sense, that the only form of travel through space they jeopordize by using it to explore LV426 as they leave the cargo behind. I always figured there was a drop ship and an escape ship. wow
Your correction is incorrect. Nostromo is the ship they detach from the Refinery in space, live and sleep in, and land on LV426. It is all shown throughout the film.
The kits have to be re-licensed, and now it's no longer 20th Century Fox they have to deal with. It's Disney, and Disney can be a pain in the butt to deal with AND charges more than the other companies generally do for licenses. The Fox Studios deal should never have gone through but we have a government that hasn't enforced the federal antimonopoly laws for the better part of 40 years now. I'm still getting my head around the fact Disney has bought so many IP's in the last 15 years -- Marvel, The Muppets, Pixar, Lucasfilm (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), and now Alien and Predator on top of Die Hard. I don't like monopolies...

My all-time favorite sci-fi movie!...beautiful model...stay safe!

The landing gear lights look brilliant.

@@gaveintothedarkness , my youngest, who was 3 at the time loves horror movies. She’s 38 now and still hasn’t come across anything scarier!

Thanks for revisiting this. I once owned this kit but didn’t have the guts to start it. I resold it on eBay.
I remember when you built this masterpiece. Really turned out fantastic. Those Halcyon kits were great. I still have my full size face hugger.
Thanks man, right now I'm dusting off a certain tough little round robot for the next flashback video that you are familiar with :)
@@TrekWorks Yes!! Can't wait to see that one!!😄
Very, Very Cool!!! I can still remember watching the movie for the first time. Nice Work Boyd!!!
Thanks, yes, the movie does leave an impression doesn't it ;)
That is so friggin sweet!!
Magnifique merci !
I remember when you built that. Looks great.
this was the build that made me sub to your channel. i wish more builders would do videos about these old Halcyon kits.
I'd like to build more of them but they are expensive and hard to find these days.
Love that Model Boyd and the Sound Effects Board.
Thank you for Subscribing to my little TH-cam Channel Boyd.
"First thing I do when I get back to earth... is get some decent bloody food!" Nice job mon ami 🏆🇬🇧
I have this model. Unfortunately, I have not got it past the priming stage.
Oh yes, lots of filling.
Yours is nicely weathered!

I had this when it came out, made and painted it, sold it. Recently I wanted to make it again but it is hundreds of £'s. Thanks for the video

Very cool, but she missed the three powerful rear light projector. With those she would be perfect!
Yeah this not the Nostromo. Its the drop ship. The Nostromo is in space when this lands. Looks great though

Hope this somehow goes the way of all the re-issues we've been seeing. But It probably won't.
