@@3buniverse Honestly, I am old and actually pretty bummed out that his new stuff doesn't hit me the way it used to. Like, I was in my mid 20's when monsters and sprites dropped, and it was amazing. So many great memories. It was literally the anthem for the year and more. It inspired SO much amazing music and brought so much more attention to the "culture," if you will. The experience is beyond words, IMO.
He and his music aren't the issue. It's totally me if I am being honest. TBH, I forgot I made this comment, and looking back on it, I regret it.
Real talk, it's my issue and not his or his productions at all.

I completely, legitimately, and genuinely want his music to impact others the way it affected me. It was a great time, but I am old now. This really makes you appreciate not only Skrillex's insane mastery (obviously), but also a small taste of the culture displayed here. Tbh it reminds me that no matter what culture or heritage we have, we all have something in common and we're all human. Love each other and try to learn more about each other. And obviously listen to Skrillex as much as possible lol.

After listening to (and loving) this track I dove into Nai Barghouti's discography - what an incredible vocalist! Props to Skrillex for such an awesome & unique collaboration.
Encontrei ele em uma festa em São Paulo, na qual ele nem estava escalado no lineup, porém os amigos dele iam tocar e isso já me deu a expectativa de encontrá-lo. Passei a festa inteira no front, imaginando que ele poderia chegar e dominar tudo, da mesma forma que ele fez em outras festas em São Paulo. Insanamente ele chegou por último como surpresa e fez geral pular e viver um momento inesquecível… Eu estava muito perto dele, estendi a mão em sua direção e ele retribuiu com um aperto de mão, me deixando viver o que eu mais queria. Pelo incrível que pareça, no momento em que apertou minha mão, ele estava encerrando seu set com “deixa acontecer naturalmente” música na qual fez total sentido naquele momento. Obrigado Skrillex pela vivência, para fechar com chave de ouro, no final do rolê consegui fazer uma foto com ele.

The plot tells that little girl was a refugee or somewhat a victim of war, she grew up, embraced her past and started a revolution, to be more of herself. This is fantastic. I have heard this song many times but when the drop came in the video gave me chills. Powerful imagery. Beautifully done.
and on a personal level this is very refreshing to see in electronic music. I feel like what happens so often is a white washing when sampling sounds from other cultures, basically colonizing their sound and leaving those people marginalized and taking all the spotlight. A recent one that comes to mind that really bothers me is "behind the sun" by ODESZA. I don't know what went on behind the scenes of XENA but it feels like a breath of fresh air to me in mainstream electronic music and I am grateful that this incredibly impactful song and video exist.
