Thanks for the tut! Love the pace. Straight to the point. This might come in handy if I don’t want to make the particles in 3D. Or to enhance what I already have. Starting to use Fusion again at home since at work we use Nuke. Sorry for the people who find this too fast. If you can’t keep up I would suggest watching the entire video first before touching fusion. Then going along. This is usually the pace pros want because they can hear what he’s doing and know where the nodes are, or what they do. Just keep practicing and you’ll eventually get there.

Following along this tutorial in 2022 via Davinci Resolve 18 and the Fusion tool works only up to an extent and most of the steps you list out are unsaid and/or skipped, so I feel like there's a whole lot that you've left out especially since the Fusion tool within DavinciResolve is identical to the stand-alone Fusion software. An updated tutorial with more in-depth step-by-step instructions would definitely be appreciated.
Everything worked up until I got to the party with accumulation effects, which did nothing when I enabled them and moved the slider around... :p dunno what I'm doing wrong
Hi, Could the uploader or someone else tell me what he did to make the screen go from Alpha background to a black background. He clicked something that looked like Smr at the bottom of the screen? It happened around 3:50 to 3:52. I am stuck there. Thank you.

@@statixvfx1793 Since you asked... There are two (possibly) related particle effects I have not figured out how to replicate yet. I know it can be done in Fusion, because I have seen a preset someone put out that does a very basic (and mostly useless) version of these two examples. The two reference examples are both found in the standalone version of Particle Illusion by BorisFX (free). I very much dislike their software interface, enough so that I stopped working with it entirely. ANYWAY...the two examples can be found in the Emitters_2021.0 set (free). The first is called "Confettii Hair Waves", and that is not a typo. The second is called "Twin Turbulent Lines Trail". Both are about half way down the list in that emitters set. It's those connecting lines that has tripped me up. You'll see it immediately if you have a look at either or those. I can 100% say, if you do tutorial videos on one, or both of those, I would likely be watching them multiple times, and probably add them to my DaVinci Resolve reference group.
You are going to fast for a person to notice what you are doing and comprehending it. Take your time, we are here to learn it, your mouse is moving so fast I can't really tell where you're clicking at times when try to look at the player to see the effect of the setting change. By the time I do that, you already clicking the next setting, and I miss what you click and only see the player change and not know why.

statix vfx hello, I really am glad that you are cutting out the fluff, it is just that you are going to fast for basic human consumption. And pausing now and then on a tutorial is normal, but the speed at which you are clicking around makes it very difficult to just following and comprehend and look at the screen and then the settings. It is just to fast to register, the brain just needs a moment to acknowledge what it saw and to make quick sense of it. I regularly watch Autodesk smoke and flame tutorials and we all know how complex that app is. So my request is just to slow down enough so that what you have done registers.
I'm basicly a fusion beginer... And I really love those tutos. Just pause and do it ! It's better to do 10 differents effects in an hour than 1. But it's just me. That mean that guys is not a good one for you, you don't like the way he is doing stuff ! :)
A shell lets you set environment variables before you launch your tool. For instances we have different versions of fusion and houdini running for different jobs, same with storage locations and other variables that changes based on projects. Fusion is set up to recognize the variables and makes it easy to have good defaults that on a pr project basis instead of a general one for all. Hope that makes sense :)
Hi! Great tutorial! I was following step by step in the Davinci Resolve 16, but when I activate Depth of Field my parts just don't show up. How can I fix that?
I had this same issue. In Resolve you have to connect the end of the node chain to "mediaOut" and have your color Corrector between the renderer and mediaOut, then things show up and it looks like the tutorial. Also make sure to turn off the "HiQ" anti-aliasing settings in the Render 3D node or it will be super slow rendering while you are adjusting parameters.
Sure, just use a properly tracked camera and do some regular comping. Im just sharing the techniques for the embers here, not how to integrate them. Perhaps a later tutorial?
You should use a somewhat modern (2010+) OpenGL compatible card with Fusion. Make sure you've got all the drivers installed. You can still do this without the OpenGL render and use the software render, but you'll loose the "free" depth of field effects with the accumulation settings; which is a openGL only feature.

You can right click on the "Perspective" text in the bottom left of your viewer when in 3d mode. You can use the "Copy POV to..." button. :)
