as someone who hasn't watched twoset in a while, this is one of the best videos they have made in a hot sec. the playing, the old tier ranking style and the comfortableness of it all reminded me of the old days. plus, i have to say props to brett and eddy because their playing has improved so so much since i last heard them play!!!
Hello everybody, Paolo Litta has composed a crazy violin piece named " ballata ciaccona ". Prima vista it s one of thé hardest work i have ever tried ! Maybe à good test for the next vidéo ? Have à nice day Guillaume from France
Love this natural, unrehearsed, on-the-fly style video - Brett's E string breaking, Eddy having to sort the camera battery then returning to accompany Brett, the struggle playing certain pieces. All this against a backdrop of crisp definition!
Twoset playing seriously with out-of-focused camera and NEW TWOSET APPAREL is the best!!! This classic ranking content is tier S Twoset video in my opinion!! Made my day!!!
This video is like S-tier for all the Twoset familiar antics - blur camera, editor-san's comments, low batt device....and of course, the amazing serious violin playing and educating! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
These are my favorite types of videos you two do. Casual, just the two of you having fun playing tunes together. I go back and watch all the years old videos like these.
2:57 ooooooohh that bit was so satisfying i feel most people struggle to play in tune even on their own so it always feels a little magical how well you guys can sync up!
So many things to love about this video: Eddy and Brett educating us on the intricacies and detail needed for each piece, Eddy and Brett accompanying each other, Brett and Eddy nerding out, Editor-san's comments appearing on the screen for more than 0.25 seconds and in larger font size, less jump-cuts. Missing: TwoSet Apparel plug.
Wow, I have to say Brett’s tone on the opening of tzigane was really good. My jaw dropped! So amazing to see how much you guys have progressed from the start of your channel, even! Great job, and can’t wait for Brahms 5 Mil!!
I can’t thank you both enough. Over the years you are one of the most dependable channels on my list for entertainment, education, and motivation. I have found myself rewatching the good ol days many times. No matter what you do moving forward in life you’ve already brought people from all walks of life together with the fun of music and that’s a truly commendable achievement. Thank you.
On Twitter and elsewhere folks have made threads following their evolution or versions on different pieces. Of course, I can’t remember the accounts names, but it’s really interesting to see the changes
2:51 Eddy definitely remembered the judge's comment to look at the other player while playing, but this time it's not the piano, but Brett!! Love this collab!!! Please play more!!!
@oxoelfoxo Thanks! I thought they had deleted all of them. Edit, it seems that they have taken down a couple of the streams. The one I mentioned isn't in the list.
The name of the British anthem changes with the reigning monarch. When Queen Elisabeth was still alive, its was called "God save the Queen" Now that her son rules, it is "God save the King." Paganini wrote his variations in 1829 when Georg IV was on the throne, so canonically, it should have been called "God save the King" back then.
Twoset videos without the final subtitles (and the auto-generated captions on) are gold. @0:22 - “first up is bark” Yup, playing that piece seems rather ruff 🐶
I SWEAR, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE listening to Eddy and Brett play, and WILL ALWAYS BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL for the amount that they have taught me!!!!!!!! Music , PARTICULARLY Classical Music has ALWAYS BEEN MY MAIN PASSION in life, and ALWAYS WILL BE!!!!!!!! Julie Gill, Glasgow, Scotland
Man, I could listen to Brett play Tchaikovsky all day. While Perlman’s performance on youtube is incredible (you all know the vid), there’s just something about the intimate setting of just the two of them playing in their recording room.
Honestly I reckon that Wieniawski 1 is probably harder (to perform live that is) than any Paganini concerto. Also Variations on an Austrian Theme (!) is probably actually his hardest piece considering Ricci literally said that it's the hardest thing he's ever played.
I would highly recommend to listen to more Schumann violin pieces, as it is very much missing from this video and others as well. His violin concerto is very reminiscent of his piano concerto, which is my favourite piece in all of music, and his 3 sonatas are great too. Great video btw, love your ranking videos, just a little recommendation
Bach is one of those composers where the notes might not be as hard as some other composers, but it's SO hard to make it sound great. There's nowhere to hide.
Ohhh for 5M I think you guys really could do a little medley first, from Tchai to Sebelius to Mendelssohn, cause it would be nice if we could have a chance to remember the good old days (lol) and see how much you guys improved, technically and musically!! Will 5M Brahms invite the famous Bretty Yang Orchestra??!! I really can't wait to hear Eddy's Brahms!! 5M sub let's go!!!
Bach's Chaconne sounds extremely amazing being played on a classical guitar, and I suggest that people check it out. Segovia, Parkening, Bream, Williams etc. (doesn't really matter) just give it a listen, frets and all.
One of my favorite Twoset vids ive seen in a while! Hilarious and educational, brings me back to watching this channel when I first started learning the violin!

3:24 the Mozart one haunted me for like a year until my violin teacher decided to move me on to something else 😔 I can still kinda play the opening but not very good (it’s been almost 8 years since I learned it)
Wieniawski No. 1 (rarely played live), and Sarasate Carmen Fantasy (only a few great recordings, most live performances are meh) are definitely S-tier because even the best struggle with them. Surprisingly it's hard to find great Tzigane as well.
Man... I've played in the orchestra for almost all of these (naturally, I'm partial to Brahms... think I did my best 2nd movement with Jen Frautschi in 2021 😀) and it's really neat to hear your take on the solo parts!
Well done, lads. Excellent video. But, just to hear you two play so well is a joy unto itself. I missed you in Vancouver (dammit!), so just to hear/watch you play is a treat. Thank the music gods for TH-cam that allow us all to experience these talented men, and thanks to you both for keeping your videos fresh, interesting, and educational - with just the right amount of good humor! Salute!
Once they pulled out Ernest Bloch, brought back awesome high school memories. Playing Bloch's Concerto Grosso as a viola player was kind of intense but so fun!
1:04 I've noticed following their socials that Brett breaks his e-strings quite often, I'm assuming (based on what others say) that he breaks them more often than an average violinist. I'm not a violinist myself so I wonder why this may be?
12:59 his hardest piece is his op 10 number 9, variations on an austrian hymn (german national anthem) the piece is literally last rose of summer level, check it out.
This isnt hate obv but I really enjoy this new content that is educational, insightful, and about the music itself. I really missed this style of content and hope it continues!

7:48 @TwoSetViolin this is from an old video that I don’t remember the title of but yall should play vivaldi concerto for 4 violins ft. Ray Chen and Hilary Hahn for 5 mil
I would move Mozart and Mendelssohn to "C," Bazzini and Barber to "B." Bazzini's "Round of the Goblins" is not long or musically deep, but it is very difficult technically (double harmonics, ricochet bowings, etc.). Barber requires a great singing tone in the first two movements, and the third movement is technically difficult. Think about the order in which students learn these pieces.
