You know, I love the Marines They have the toughest bootcamp, many, many, MANY of my family members have joined (in fact one of my cousins is going through boot camp right now,) and most, if not all, of the Marine and Marine vets that I have met have been very respectful and pleasant
I had the honor to be present when a Navy MOH winner was on my base. For some reason he asked me to take a walk with him and told me to watch. When approached by 2 senior officers, he refused to salute at which point they started to “dress him down” but he showed them his MOH they immediately snapped to attention & saluted him! What a life changing event! We didn’t stop laughing until we got to the enlisted mens club where we attempted to lose appropriate numbers of brain cells! Thank you Chief for your service and sacrifice!

I think it was 2014 that it was my honor to make my third USMC logo stained glass window specifically for Cpl Kyle Carpenter; soldered a black (not-see-through) stained glass to hang below it, took it to my VFW Post 6298, had all AL & VFW veterans sign it in gold ink, took it to San Ramon (CA) & left it with the Sentinels of Freedom to get it to Kyle. God bless this brave humble Marine and all Devil Dogs worldwide. From a mom of a US Coast Guard Veteran, I'm also the niece of a 2/5 WWII Iwo Jima Marine (who said he had SO much fun in the Pacific on all but Tarawa that he joined the 82nd Airborne for Korean, became PH recipient, and Uncle Bill's Home in Heaven now, 2015). even for someone like me, who never served(my two brothers served so i was reliefed from it) i am completly amazed by his story. i mean... he throw himself on a grenade to secure his fellow comrades. i can only imagine that kind of bond between humans that only exist between soldiers. as my great gandfather, a soldier of the wehrmacht, once said to me: it is easy to take a life... it is hard to give your own and survive.
He jumped on a grenade he was going to get hit with anyways to save 1 other marine from getting possibly injured.... yes I respect him for his actions but no it doesn't deserve the same award that the nation has to offer that others have gotten for saving MULTIPLE people (like the navy seal that got it for saving 28 fellow soldiers by engaging over a dozen enemies on his own and getting shot close to 20times not including shrapnel wounds until a,shot to the heart put him down but not before he saved all his comrades)

Every military man must honor this man by saluting him first, even the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff, every military officer, even of the highest rank, even those of our allies in NATO! When a medal of honor recipient arrives anywhere, on a NATO facility anywhere in the world, all persons there are notified and put on alert lest they miss the duty and privilege of honoring this man with a first salute. Furthermore, every man must stand to attention, even the military's highest ranking general, when this man enters the room. Also, this man is the only one who is allowed to remain sitting even if the military's highest ranking officer should enter. Wow!
Just to clarify: there is no reg saying everyone salutes a MOH wearer first. There is a long standing tradition to do so when the MOH is being worn, and the higher-ups don’t say no. In the UK, there is such a reg. for the VC. If Field Marshall Sir Garnet Wolsey meets Private Joe Bloggs, VC, Sir Garnet salutes, and waits for the return. Not sure if Pvt. Bloggs has to be wearing his VC.

Just to clarify: there is no reg saying everyone salutes a MOH wearer first. There is a long standing tradition to do so when the MOH is being worn, and the higher-ups don’t say no.
In the UK, there is such a reg. for the VC. If Field Marshall Sir Garnet Wolsey meets Private Joe Bloggs, VC, Sir Garnet salutes, and waits for the return. Not sure if Pvt. Bloggs has to be wearing his VC.
