    Water tank saga needs a playlist😊. Could there be more than one leak? Perhaps soapy water and an air compressor?

      It does doesn’t it!! It’s driving us crazy! Ahh boat life! Yeah, we are pretty confident it’s that crack that’s causing the leak but once we get to a marina in the states we will have more room to properly check it out! It’s hard to do at anchor…so I think we will wait till then! The saga will go on and on! 😂

    Flex Seal is an amazing product line. The marketing is a bit corney/funny but the stuff is amazing. Why not try this and any other product on the top of your tank and see how well it adheres... then try it on the leak.

      Thanks for that! We will try it out!! Cheers

    Happy birthday Nat! So sorry about your water tank though…that’s a bummer. Hope you get it resolved soon, or get a new tank.

      Thanks Marisa!!! I know..We will try some of the recommendations that we got in the comments and if that doesn’t work then I think it’s time to bite the bullet and get a new one! 😬⛵️

    Happy Birthday Nat, I have some stuff here (give me an address and I will send it to you) called Knead It which is an epoxy where you mix equal parts and put it over the leak and leave it for about 24 hours. I have used it on a plastic type fuel tank a few years for a Ford station wagon and it never leaked a drop. It should work for your water tank. Let me know if you want it free, no charge. I live in Whyalla, South Australia. I think it's called Knead It because you mix it with your fingers and press it over the leak (like kneading it, Offer is there if you want it. Love your channel even though I have never sailed on a sailboat EVER !!!!

      Cheers Owen! After u mentioned it, had a quick look online! They only sell knead it in Aus but I can get a similar putty epoxy in the US. Let me order that one once we get to the states and then try that one! Thanks for the amazing offer to send that one…but I know how much shipping costs are from Aus to states….crazy! 😜 so better try this one first! Will keep u updated! Thank you so much for the tip…fingers crossed it works!! Sounds promising if it managed to stop a fuel leak on the Ford! When we get to Aus you will just have to come sailing with us!!! ⛵️ 😃

    Don't know if this will help but I had a leak (crack in the plastic) on a 5 gal gasoline jug, I used #1 permatex gasket sealer and it has been holding for the last 20 years... I still use the gas can, full of fuel right now...not sure if it will work for you but it is a cheap fix to try..... the other thing maybe JBWeld would work

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that! We will def give it a try! We want to try anything possible to fix it before we bite the bullet and buy a new one! Cheers for watching! ⛵️

    I wish I was going to be in the Bahamas for my birthday! I'll be up here in Annapolis for my birth date but then we're heading to Colorado day after to see a concert of one of our favorite bands which was a birthday gift from me to Dolby! Glad you were able to get out to a nice private island on your birthday, looked nice and peaceful 😊

    It seems to me that instead of refixing the hole or crack in the tank try and figure out what is causing it to crack open? If it is flexing then try and prevent the flexing etc etc. In other words the cause is what you have to fix ..... after that any of the products you have tried will work.

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Tim! Thanks for the info…yeah it’s in a difficult spot the crack. It doesn’t leak when the tank is half full but obv as we fill it to max the pressure is just too high! I think if it was on a flat surface bit of the tank it would be easier to repair? Not sure! 🤔 it’s def got us puzzled! Cheers for watching! 😀

    Happy Birthday, Nat! What about Flex Seal. I have read it is a great family of products made to stop leaks and remain flexible. Looking at the corny television ads it sounds like you could SPRAY IT ON A CLOUD TO STOP THE RAIN! 😁 Hope everything works out with your water situations. All the best...

    I reccomend first--Loctite pl marine fast cure adhesive sealant-used for underwater applications--second you may try PC marine epoxy putty--might be worth 1 more try B4 having to replace tank--good luck-Oh, and happy B.D. Natalie !!

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers Bill! Ok will be ordering those and once we get state side will be in a marina so much easier to do the work and check for leaks! Thanks so much for the recommendations! Seems like they are both easy to get online and delivered! 👍😀

    When I’ve used GFlex I’ve done a full-on glass patch over the area … even carbon fibre once. Just using the epoxy by itself doesn’t seem to work as well. Are you sure you’ve 100% identified the leak(s) location?

    • @haydenwatson7987
      @haydenwatson7987 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That was my thought as well. The repair looked to be very thin which puts a lot of stress on a little bit of G Flex. I would make the repaired area larger and pre-saturate a piece of light glass cloth that extends at least a couple of inches beyond the crack.

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great point! We had the glass ready and then we went against using it…and I can’t for the life of me think why in the moment that was a good idea! 🫨 so maybe we should try with some fiberglass next time! Yeah the leak is def coming from that crack there! But just like u mentioned once we are at a marina in the states and we have a bit more room might take it out and fully test it on the dock to double check there aren’t any more cracks that we haven’t identified! The saga will continue! Hahaha 😝 cheers for the info
