True - digital is great for close-in, casual fun. I think the future of analogue is with those of us who's main object is the post-flight footage from loftier missions, not the flight as it happens. If all we ask for is a hazy hint where the craft is heading, analogue is always easier to live with and more open to redundancy.
Great comparison Giz,.....never the twain shall meet. I use both systems atm.I still fly analogue as I love the uncertainty of where I'm going! Keeps my reactions, muscle memory up to par.🤗
Haha, I like that. ''The uncertainty of where I'm going'' 😄 If I decide to go down the HD route myself I'll also be keeping any analog gear, I won't be making a total transition. Analog is still better than HD in some regards
The guy flying the walksnail plane is just a rubbish pilot 😂 Nah, I think it's just because he was making multiple rapid corrections to try keep my plane in shot
It is amazing to see the impressive different between the analog feed (it is a really good analog camera. I use the same and I like it) to the impressive HD view. I think, it would make flying way more fun!!! For walksnail it is "just" the 720p mode. 1080p would be more crispy, especially on the plane in that height to enjoy the landscape. At the end it is the decision of the pilot what he/she wants to see / fly through. The analog feed seems like somebody threw sand into somebodies eyes and the HD obviously without the sand :D What is the cost of your analog setup? (camera+VTx+Antenna)? The Walksnail Lite Vtx (99$) might be close to the cost of that? Specs are similar-ish, too... (TBS Vtx 400mW compared to Walksnail Lite 350mW) Thank you for the comparison :)
Haha @ sand in the eyes. I get what you mean though, the analog feed looks awful in comparison to the HD, but I've been using it for years and not once have I felt a need to complain lol. My analog setup (cam, vtx + antenna) is £75, so it's cheaper than a Walksnail setup. But obviously you get more for your money with Walksnail so the extra cost is worth it
Great comparison. Obviously analog is cheaper if you have multiple planes and what not but I do like this walksnail. I have DJI and because I’m still on stock antennas, the range isn’t that good
I haven't personally tried to fly it up a mountain (although would love too lol), however I have flown it in reasonably strong winds (20-30mph gusts) and it's actually been ok. Very twitchy as you'd imagine, but it has the power to fightr through. Probably wouldn't want to fly in anything stronger tho
For the time being, if I decide to get Walksnail I'll be getting the VRX module for my goggles. Possibly in the future I might look at trading in my analog gear and getting HD exclusive goggles, but tbh I doubt it. Analog still has it's place and uses ;)
Considering your using the most expensive RapidFIRE Rx module, that feed is pretty shabby TBF...and still flying local....Both would benefit from aiming the flight camera down a bit more...Too much sky in shot... Particularly in Winter....🤔🤔😳😏🇬🇧
I think there's some smoo on the analog camera lens, or it's slightly out of focus. Either way I agree it doesn't look great, especially considering the quality of the parts being used. As for the camera angle, on the T1 by default the camera looks straight forward. You'd have to modify the nose of the aircraft to adjust the angle, but tbh it doesn't bother me as it is
@@gizfpv Okay, digital is just the same as analogue cameras I find. The wide dynamic range means that too much sky has an adverse affect. These days people are using pan and tilt, which really adds to the experience. I want to try it out...🤔😳😏
Hi Giz FPV, I'm new to the channel. What is the longest range that you have flown with the FPV ? I have seen a lot of videos with people going over 50Km with Analog FPV system. Unfortunately I'm not able to get more than a couple of Km I'm going to use a 5.8GHz 23DBi antenna and check in a couple of weeks when it arrives. I have a 1W, 2W and 3W VTX modules (5.8GHz) but for some strange reason I cannot go beyond 2Km mark. Can you or anyone here help me identify the issue ? Cheers !
The trick to flying long range is not VTX power, it's the antennas! You can easily fly 10km on a 25mw VTX if you have the right antennas. Ideally you want 2 antennas mounted on a diversity receiver. A circularly polarized antenna for close range flying, and a high gain low beam width patch for long range flying. You also want a good circularly polarized antenna on your aircraft. TrueRC is probably the best brand to go for when it comes to antennas. Something like the X2-air. VTX power will also help, more milliwatts is always good, but trust me you'll see more improvement on range with a antenna upgrade
@@gizfpv Cheers for the quick reply.... I am using a diversity Receiver Goggles... But with 1 Circular and other Flat patch antenna. Can you link the VTX antenna and the Receiver Antennas that you mentioned.... I'll order them right away.... Cheers once again ! :)

Which is why my short/medium range planes are now mainly digital..... it's like getting new eyes :) Love the comparison.

Fantastic comparison, dude! Thanks! 😃
This system really looks amazing!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That is some solid reception on the analog. Not bad at all. 👍

Are you gonna design a pan and tilt for the walksnail? I use your runcam split pan and tilt and it's awesome and a wanna replace it with walksnail
Very possibly yes! I'll keep you updated
Why is the Walksnail plane so wobbly? The lead analog plane moves suddenly too but is stable

this made me switch to WS!
Been loving the difference
Ironically this video also made me switch to WS too! After seeing my DVR beside my friends WS DVR I was sold lol

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect Walksnail Avatar to virtual reality glasses via usb, for example, to Oculus quest 3?
If you go walksnail do you plan to gat the VTr for your analog goggles or the full kit?

I am confused...
Why does that confuse you?

The girlfriend obviously. Her onlyfans account would bring in enough dolla to pay for all the fpv parts I could ever need 😉
