Third movement is marked 92 bpm in this Schott edition, which is outrageously fast. This performance is around 72, which seems musically right, so I want to believe the 9 is an unfortunate typo on Schott’s part. Can anyone with a copy of the MS or the old edition confirm?

@@musicboiscores that's true, he's always very precise with rhythms and dynamics, even in fast sections - on the one hand, this is making his performances very clean and not that "blurry". On the other hand, it sounds too stiff sometimes and doesn't allow for swing, which is essential for Kapustin's music...
@@tarikeld11 That's a fair point indeed.. the only other recording that I'm aware of, which is Immanuel Davis accompanied with Timothy Lovelace, does swing in the obvious parts and it is more idiomatic and less stiff that way. However I ended up choosing this recording anyways since I felt that Kapustin's music really needs tight rhythmic playing. So well I guess... for now one has to choose their own poison for recordings of this piece
