Scott, all you need is a small piece of a Redbull can and you make a small shim. With that you place it in between the space on the decoder wheels.

We acquired a 2020 Lexus RX350 L in mid-February and in mid-September I came upon stopped traffic on the Interstate, made an emergency stop, and was rear-ended by 2 cars, one a heavy SUV. Except for the left corner which took the hardest impact, and the left front quarter panel and grill, caused by the steel cables on our interstates which keep cars from crossing the median, and saved our butts. There was no glass breakage, no cabin damage or dangling air bags, because the airbag/belt tensioner was defective and nothing deployed and the engine still ran. Even the power lift gate worked. The insurance company totalled it because of the cost of labor and parts for the obvious damage, plus hidden suspension damage and bent body parts underneath. The car had roughly 7,000 miles on it. It was sold at auction in October by Copart,(Lot # 50209890, location ...LL020, if you know how to look up final auction prices) but I didn't follow it closely enough to learn what it sold for. List price was over $55,000. I thought this would have been the perfect car for you to restore. With your skills, you could have done it in 2 days, once you had the parts, and made a very nice profit. And we would have all learned some more info about repairing modern cars.

Scott, another great build, awesome humor, especially the jiffy lube grind and weld revenge. My 1960 International rescue squad truck uses a canister oil filter, in a pinch you could use a regular roll of toilet paper if no filter was available. I’m in the process of gathering parts to rebuild it, I’m going to use a UM606 Mercedes diesel for power, do away with the 4 wheel drum brakes and go to disc, add power steering and power brakes. I’m planning on it taking about a year from start to finish. It’s a departure from what you do, but I’m going to follow your work style and ethics, make it better than it was when it left the factory. Let me know if you want a couple of 300 pound tires to keep the afternoon crew entertained, they can practice lifting down. Dan.

So I was watching my favorite weekly TH-cam channel and my wife walked by and said, "what's he doing?" The video was right at the end of the super duper Stevie Spillburg SFX and I paused, and backed it up to show her what you were doing. After watching it, it was obvious that she didn't get the full impact of your cinematic skills because she said, "so there are 3 silver wheels and one brown one." I said, no, and rewound a 2nd time and explained your magic way of brake replacement. I think she got the point (you never know with wives) and she said, "show me one more time." So one more time I re-played it and she said, "Oh my God, look at his arms." So Scott, in the future, I won't be watching your videos whenever my wife is in the house.

It sure seems worth it to spend the extra $300-$1000 in fuel or shipping to get a car out of a salt free state to me. It always amazes me that a 5 year old car can have clean bright aluminum under the hood rather than the grey with white flake stuff we see in Chicago
