    Everyone in school for phlebotomy...look into working at a plasma donating center. You just need your high school diploma and it gives you awesome practice on sticking people. I’ve been working at one for a year now with NO prior experience and it’s amazing how well I’ve gotten.

      Tiffany Brown do you have any tips on getting an interview or what to put on your resume? I graduated high school w a phlebotomy certification and am currently a sophomore in college majoring in nursing i think it will give me a leg up when I apply to nursing school!!

      Mia You should definitely be looking for PRN positions! Some hospitals only put senior employees as PRN but most places are fine with no experience outside of school. If you live in California or Louisiana, look into applying for you license, it’s a big step up and many hospitals require it in those states.
      As far as your resume, what helped me the most in getting a job was having experience in customer service. I interviewed about 6 times right after I got my license, but because I was in school and had limited availability, I wasn’t very marketable. Now that my availability is completely open, I’ve gotten offers every time I interviewed.
      Hospitals typically have 2 interviews- the first with management and the second is a peer interview. There are some great resources online to help you learn what to expect in peer interviews- passing these is essential to scoring a job.

      @@valentiinaquiintaniila5563 My instructor had us draw for the first hour of class. We had to have 2 draws. A lot of people would just do 1 but I tried to do my two as fast as possible because then students including myself would not want to get stuck more than once. This lasted for my entire course up to the final. My program was only 8 weeks, but we only went to class on Saturday, so more like an 8 day program spread out to once a week for 8 weeks ;).

    Just found your channel! I've been a phlebotomist at a patient service center lab for almost a year and a half now, and just trying to figure out where I want to go from here. It's nice to see other phlebotomists on TH-cam for what their days are like, and it lets other people know all of the work we do and how important it is. I honestly don't think we get enough credit! Haha, so thank you for the videos! New subscriber for sure, best of luck to you in school!! I've been thinking of doing videos too because a lot of patients ask me how what phlebotomy is like and how to get into it, and I'm sad there are not more recent videos on TH-cam. Anyway, yes good luck to you on everything!! Rooting for ya! 😊❤

    Hello thanks for the video!!! I took phlebotomy & am thinking about taking it again. I never worked in the field. I also have a degree in administration. At the risk of sounding like a total bitch it's a pet peeve of mine when people say "Can I GET." Not "May I have." I heard some radio show where people said that grammar doesn't matter anymore. As someone who worked in administration for two decades, grammar certainly does matter. It's about putting your best foot forward.

      Alex Guzman No you don’t have to travel. You can work at places like clinics or hospitals and be stationary. It’s just that phlebotomists are in pretty high demand so you’ll find some phlebs that work at two different places or pick up random shifts just to make more money. But wherever you apply, it will let you know if traveling is required in the job description.

    Can you do a video about how you got started with this? Is it a college degree or a certification in order to be a phlebotomist? I find it really interesting and would love to know.

      Kelly Ann it’s a course you have to take, it could be anywhere from 3 to 6 months. And then you have to take an exam to become licensed.

      Avigail Aguirre no it’s usually just a 8 week program or some places do 3/5 week programs, and you learn everything you need in that time..and after that you might have an externship then you can start looking for a job!

    • @nikazharichenko
      @nikazharichenko  ปีที่แล้ว

      depending on where you work! In the hospital, I had to stick to a specific color (but I could get whatever scrubs I wanted in that color). If you work in outpatient settings (doctors offices, etc.) you are usually allowed to wear whatever color/pattern you want!
