I’m going to repeat what I’ve suggested previously. From her venture into the popular standards with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra- “Someone to Watch Over Me “. When she recorded these classics she included the verse, which many artists leave out. This song shows her versatility. Next: “ Down So Low”, shows her soulful side, and it will give you goosebumps. “ Try Me Again” is from the same album. Finally, from her country era, “ Silver Thread and Golden Needles”. She also did a cover of “Crazy”, which was originally by Patsy Cline.

@@chuckragland9972 Oh, I didn’t forget. I have all of her albums with Nelson Riddle. The song I suggested is one of my favorites she did with him. And yes, the Batman theme is fab! I loved that show, I think I was 10 years old. I actually like it more, the older I get. I really appreciate the campiness, which I didn’t get as a 10 year old. Actually, the album by John Mayhall, that has Eric Clapton on it has a song that, the minute I heard it, it was the Batman theme. I’m sorry I don’t remember the actual song title. I’ll have to look it up. Back to Linda, her voice is one that I can easily get lost in. How about her rendition of “Feels Like Home”, a Randy Newman composition? It’s just beautiful. And the 2 albums she did with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton? Extraordinary vocals!

Linda Ronstadt part of a supergroup in the 80s called The Trio. It consisted of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris. All amazing vocalists obviously, and the harmonies are incredible. Also, definitely dive down the rabbit hole of Emmylou Harris. My favorite Emmylou tune is Boulder to Birmingham. She wrote it while she was grieving the death of Gram Parsons and released it in 1975. Dolly Parton and Joan Baez both covered it in 1976. Joan covered it in concert for her 1976 live double LP album release. Tom Wopat sang it on an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard in 1984. Bill Danoff, who co-wrote it, recorded it with Starland Vocal Band on their debut album.

Fantastic rendition here by Linda Ronstadt !! She made many of these songs her own!! For a couple of rockin' songs you MUST try "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" & "Tumbling Dice".

You have to give a nod to the 50’s/60’s do-Wop style with this song. If you think along those lines that’s where she was paying tribute to. She literally is a Once in a generation vocal talent! I am Blessed to have heard her in her prime!

There aren't many female vocalists I really admire, maybe 10,- Whitney, Aretha, Diana Ross, Marilyn McCoo, and a few others, but as you mention, Linda did it all, and did it with the best of any genre.

She sold more records than any female artist in the 70's. Think of all of the great women who made music in the 70's. That's shows how good she was. Anyone who lived through the 70's knows she's on the greatest of all time list.

Best live pipes on the planet. From the mid 70s to the early 80s she owned the airways and the arenas. Then she took that remarkable voice elsewhere. Ronstadt always had our hearts. Great bands, great gal...sigh.

Suggestions for more her cover of Rolling Stones Tumbling Dice, Her cover of Eagles Desperado equals or even surpasses the original, Silver Threads and Golden Needles, Somewhere Out There (Duet with James Ingram), Someone to Watch Over Me (an old American Standard by George and Ira Gershwin), What’s New (from her triple platinum album of classic American standards of the same name) or Poor Wandering One from the Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta The Pirates of Penzance. Tons of other can’t go wrong with Linda

For pure vocal showcase I recommend Poor Wondering One from The Pirates of Penzance. Pop opera but still shows she could also sing opera. Classic standards with What’s New. A vocal chameleon. I was lucky to see her perform live. No effects and sounded as good if not better. Incredible singer.
