The Chinese city was very logical. However it's important to consider that we must focus on the entire ecology and not well supported landscaping. We need to be removed of the earth. Give her the space she needs to return to balance and equilibrium. Our survival depends on it.

We should apply these principles to already existing cities which form the majority of cities in the world. If we can implement them in one city, we can implement them throughout the world. Sustainable infrastructure is inevitable but the sooner we get it done the better.

There is one thing I was wondering about this, will the majority of these cities and buildings be available to the general public. If the aim is sustainability, we'll never reach it if only the wealthy can afford it. Also, shouldn't we be upgrading, our old buildings and houses instead of creating new ones?

Good point! They accommodate only couple of ten of thousands. But, we need to change the culture in the whole, how we see our world, with more respect, devotion to nature mixed with sustainable technologies. And one of the secrets is water and sewerage smart systems, another is the road system and vertical house systems to also have flying cars ports. The should aim for cities that could take at least 500 thousands, smart but simpler at the same way.

Sarif was right about one thing. It's in our nature to want to rise above our limits. Think about it. We were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. Every time we met an obstacle, we used creativity and ingenuity to overcome it. The cycle is inevitable.

My idea of future cities would be the entire city inside of a single structure that uses moving walkways and high-speed elevators for all transportation. The structure would either be designed like an artificial tree where the branches would support the growth of the city's food, or another form of structure possibly a pyramid that will allow crops to be grown vertically instead of stretched out along the ground. To be in a large city and think about it is to realize the insane amount of space, fuel, and electricity that is wasted on vehicles that are moving nowhere near their potential.

@@JesusChristDenton_7 yeah I guess it is. It's basically an ant hill. I believe that future cities should be a single structure design mixing the understanding of architecture, psychology, crime statistics everything we understand about people and structures to create something that is as efficient, compact, self sufficient and in tune with the environment as possible without feeling overpopulated, depressing, or constrained. And these cities will be surrounded by nature that is returned to its natural state or terraformed to be better.

I like the moving walkway idea, its inconvenient for people to carry stuff on bikes, busses, etc.. but you could carry a piano without any help on a moving walkway lol. Crops should still stay in the country I think because it costs way less. Even massive pyramid structures taking up real estate space wouldn't produce enough food.

There is enough tech out there for cities like Amaravati to be sustainable. AI, automation, modular construction etc.. could build cities without mistakes for a fraction of the price in a fraction of the time and all this expensive tech could be accessible to the poorest countries.

This is great! I wouldn't mind living in one of these cities. However, there is one thing that makes we think.... all these places are being powered by the solar power energy. It seems great for now but..... the solar panels have an average operating life cycle of 20-30 years and they are very hard to dispose of as they contain some toxic metals. I wonder what happens to them when they can no longer be used. And to be clear, I'm not against solar power energy, I'm just considering the longer term consequences of their wider use.

Thank you! Yes very true. We need a diverse range of energy sources as we shouldn’t be reliant on solar if it has a small operating life.

I support solar energy however, in its current phase of development, it's proving more destructive than restorative. Strictly from an environmental perspective. We need to modify them to turn the radiative heat into thermal energy.

Cities of the future are likely to prioritize sustainability and innovation. Expect advancements in smart infrastructure, renewable energy integration, efficient public transportation, green spaces, and digital connectivity. Urban planning may focus on creating more compact, walkable communities to address the challenges posed by the growing population. Technologies like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things could play a crucial role in optimizing city functions, enhancing resource management, and improving overall quality of life.

So many great concepts. I didn't see any recalibration to incorporate the consequences of climate change as we begin to see a rapid increase in activity. These structures need to be built to withstand the extreme elements that we are regrettably going to have to prepare for. We are adaptive and intelligent. We must evolve and do it quickly. We are running out of time. We need to create balanced ecosystems and get out of the way of mother nature. Our cities should have the smallest footprint possible. The jetsons were close. We shouldn't even block the sun. The earth needs to heal. Back to the drawing boards. Completely self-sustaining groups of citizens. Elevated and reflective. Long pylons. Space-age materials. It is the investor's responsibility to contribute. They will be contributing to their own lives. Underground cities, submerged cities. Time to bring the earth back to the utopia that it once was. Perhaps better. We have the technology, we have the materials. We unquestionably have the money. All that is missing is the unity. It's there in us all, we will find it soon enough.
