If you buy bullion cubes in the Hispanic isle in the grocery store it is way cheaper than if you buy it in the soup isle and IT'S THE EXACT SAME THING. The only difference is the ones in the Hispanic isle have Spanish/English writing on the package. The ingredients are the same.

I have learned to take out a few meals worth of meat out all at once and put in the refrig. It takes it a day or two to defrost and then it's still good for a day or so more. And for those days when I lost track of meal plan I have bags of pre-browned ground beef for some quick sloppy joes or whatever. Now adding precooked chicken for last minute enchiladas or some of that green chili we like now. Guess where I learned those nifty tricks.

According to my family I was born frugal. My brother liked to say when we were young, that I could turn two cents into a dime.
Maybe you could put together a playlist of how to shop the weekly ads, making a meal plan from that and starting a price book so you know when to stock up. I know I have a handful of baking recipes and probably about twenty meals that I am always stocked up for.
I have worked with young adults, and they are so lost on this. You have to show them the math and make them understand what they are paying for convenience.
    Love the grocery audits ❤

Hello Tawra, Love the budget audit videos! From what I hear and see, it seems Lynn may want to do a pantry/refrigerator/freezer challenge for herself and her family to use up what she already has. I am doing this for my husband and myself and I am surprised to find out that we have way more food than we thought we had. It has made many meals for months without shopping, except for some perishables. For pantry/refrigerator/freezer I put like items together. I always date and move oldest up front for better organization. I also have an email reminder to check all my pantry/refrigerator/freezer items so I do not waste any food.

My local thrift store does 2-3 (depending on the day) grocery bags of clothes for $5. When I buy my kids' clothes, if there's more room in the bags, I add the ugly t-shirts that nobody wants (stuff like the free shirts for donating blood in 1999😂) and then cut them up into my rags. I treat my "rags" like paper towels and usually just throw them away.

Huge money saving tip if you cats. Buy pellet bedding, the kind used for horses, at any farm supply store. You can find it for $7 - $9 for 40 pound bag!!! Mix it in with your regular cat litter. You’ll save a ton of money, because cat litter costs so much more. I do a 50-50 mix, but you can also do 75-25, or whatever works for your cats. It clumps up the cat urine just like regular litter does.

Re 'yelling' - I never took it as yelling... I figured it was just part of your personality. You're matter of fact, to the point, and add a touch of humor. 1 If it is sold in my grocery store, I consider it groceries - food or not.
2 Garlic bread is so simple, I always make it at home.
I go through a roll of paper towels about every 5 weeks.
Refrigerating tomatoes kills about half of the flavor. Don’t refrigerate tomatoes. 🍅
As far as remembering to thaw… I have an old Nokia phone that I have kept for its loud alarm. I would add a reminder on that phone to Thaw Dinner. That way, you’d have a daily reminder to thaw whatever is needed for the next night’s meal. 😋
Regarding pet food, you get what you pay for. Also, many pet health issues are related to diet and nutrition. I have not checked the label on their dog food, but Blue Wilderness cat food is a good quality choice, and my little 🐈‍⬛ seems to approve.
How in the world does someone go through a roll of paper towels a day??? 🤔

Hi. These new videos are really interesting - keep going, I love it. It can be very helpful to see what you can switch out some intems to, and substitutes or what to cut out. Very relatable in some cases.
My biggest "problem" would be to STICK TO THE LIST when shopping and coming up with cheap meal ideas.

I cut my loaves into 3 layers. I use the tops and bottoms for french bread pizza and the middle slice I use for garlic bread. We got a great deal for under $0.50 each. My husband brought home 20! They got prepped and frozen for LOTS of quick lunches and bread for dinners.

Eye of round $3.99/lb (at a restaurant supply), cook that then slice thin, so much better! I was buying Land O Frost lunch meat for my husband but that's gone up to almost $6/lb! We have invested in some food processing equipment (slicer, grinder, chamber vacuum sealer) so we are able to take advantage of buying larger pieces of meat and breaking them down ourselves.

Hi Tawra, Mike and Jill, I'm really enjoying Grocery audits and your cuts to video clip recipe and DIY's". I can feel for Lynn , and you being a fellow Fibromyte. I find it exhausting to shop so stop at Store on way home from work every day since I walk by several to get home i.e.: Dollor General, Dollar Tree Plus, Big Lots Aldie's and Wegmans, and literally have to go to all these stores to find the best and cheapest Pet food
I'm literally in the Store daily and the struggle is real for pet owners. I noticed pet food was empty shelves during the pandemic and post pandemic a long while and when it came back everywhere when in stock its crazy expensive. Wet cat canned food went up 3 times in 1- 1/2 years. Dry Kibble has tripled everywhere as well. The Stores keep saying its the Shipping Trucks, gas expense ect.. I have used ground chicken and rice for my cat. he does not like it as well but he eats it

Your just enthusiastic when you speak and It's the mic's pick up so if you find a way to adjust the pick up volume that's good. I like being able to hear you speak, better than some others video's where even having my volume up they are not well recorded. And besides, we can always lower our volume on this side too.

I love these videos. I was thinking when she was talking about lunch meat, maybe she could cook and slice a couple of the items from the freezer, such as the pork roast, corned beef, beef roast, make a meat loaf and slice that if her husband and family like that. Just a thought. She could also do the same with the chicken breast and the ham left over also. Thanks for sharing your groceries Lynn, and thank you Tawra for helping with your ideas. Have a Blessed day.

at waley world can get 18 wash cloths in a bundle for 6 bucks or maybe a little more now but they are great if you need something new to use in the kitchen and work area for cleaning cloths.

  • @melinaz3385

We used to use cloth towels when I was growing up for wiping the dishes, there was the Dish towel, there was the dish cloth and sponge for cleaning dishes and counters. There was the bleach in the rinse water, we had a dishwasher and we had to do dishes by hand too. paper towels are so "common" that I only buy them for 6 for 6 dollars or less maybe every two months. some people in the house just use them to dry their hands! I snag them back out of the can and hide them to dry to wipe up spills.

Chaps my hide and I also correct them now and tell them it’s not luck, it’s strategic budgeting, not going into debt over nonsense “keeping up with the Jones’s” spending I see so many people my age and younger doing! And we have EXTRAS!!!! We don’t do car payments or consumer debt EVER.
