An amazing Talent,here is a true story,early 90's NYC (Marchish? 1994 i think) I was coming home from busking in the NYC Subways and had made about $26,enough to eat that day and l was heading back to my shoebox on E 90th and 2nd Ave,was'nt in a great mood,l'm lrish,had moved to NYC and loved Spandau Ballet forever,grew up with them and worshipped Gary as the Genius in the band. As i walk past an lrish bar there is a guy outside it,it's Gary Fucking Kemp! Can't be!? Don't be silly Dan,what's he doin here? ( l had'nt seen the Bodyguard at this stage or knew of his acting Career beyond the Krays which i love) l walked up nervously "Excuse me mate,You're not Gary Kemp are you?" "Yeah Mate! I am!" It was so cool to meet a hero! I had been playing one of my alltime favourite Songs in the subway regularly "Through the Barricades" and l asked him please to show me a bit l was'nt sure about (pre internet!) Sure enough he grabs my acoustic and starts playing it! Shows me the bridge bit! It was one of the greatest moments in my life,Thank you Mr.Kemp,you were and are an inspiration and an absolute Gentleman,you made a poor Busker very happy that day, thank you very much for your amazing talent and music.
Thanks Arturo! NY was such an education for my life,it was a very tough City to make it l found. Life got a lot better after l left it! Gary was a fantastic memory from the Big Apple for me though!

Though critics and detractors may snub it as indulgent middle-age dross, it is not only a tour de force made for discerning ears but also one that will outlast evanescent pop.
Brilliant song! The melody is magnificient , the clip so beautiful and sober at the same time. As a Spandau Ballet fan, I still hope they could reunite one day. But this song is a gift ,and Gary proves that he is not only a great songwriter, but a great singer too. The production makes me think about some beautiful songs from Billy Joel.This song deserves to be a huge hit. Bravo Gary !!
