The sphero brand probably has been around for ages, but the Star Wars ones are new, and BB-9e is from The Last Jedi

My sister has BB-8, and she says that he’s kind of hard to control. I’m actually thinking about getting BB-9E here, and was wondering if he’s any easier to control than BB-8. Also, in the settings, will reducing the max speed make it so he doesn’t go darting off at the slightest touch to the controls?

There is a refurbish seller on ebay. Picked mine up for about 50 bucks, and it comes with new accessories and the droid was practically new, no scratches or anything. And they replace the battery. I can link in a bit.
