Russian sailors were likely treated like slaves at sea. American sailors must have had it worlds better than any Russian sea dogs. If I am mistaken, please key me in on the truth. 😂😂
i'm not russian in any capacity but do you know what you're talking about? you're wording it like you are unsure yourself but in the same sentence are wording it as if its facts.
@@thecommandant341 I was throwing that out on the table just to get further input. I myself am a landlubber and sea life would be tough on me, American or Russian. No offense to anyone. Go have a tasty prime rib dinner. Bon apetit!
@@alanstrong55 Yes and no. Before 1990, this may have been partly true. They served in the navy for 3 years and there was a whole non-statutory hierarchy, where “spirits” (recruits) did 90% of the work for 1.5-2 years, and then became “grandfathers, elders, trade unionists”, and practically did not work. Sometimes hazing reached the point of murder. in 1990, the term of service in the navy was reduced to 2 years, which improved the situation, and in 2008, in the entire army, the term of service in the navy was set at 1 year, which almost completely eradicated hazing.
