    The pin in the rack for centre mark is a 6mm pin, the base of a 6mm drill bit works the best

    The fixed 1.5 negative camber arms don't actually give you exactly 1.5 degrees of negative camber. They only reduce the amount of camber by 1.5 degrees from your original lower arms. So for example if your car has 1° positive camber, fitting the fixed neg. arms it would end up at -0.5°

    I always thought they looked like a simple idea. Be nice to check the alignment, I only paid £20 to get my wheels aligned over here 👌🏻

    Would like to see a castor adjustment? My steering is quite heavy since i fitted adjustable ones

    Hi, good videos, My question is not really related to this video, i have my Rad out to change the top/bottom hoses, i noticed the peardrop subframe to body mount, is sliding where it should be stuck (the rubber bit) is it possible to change the mount without removing the subframe? Regards Mark (uk) Mini 25 1984.

    Changing the height of adjustable suspension also alters wheel alignment. Another good tip is to use a phone with a clinometer app to measure the camber angle of the wheel.

      That's a great tip. Using modern technology to address a classic job. I forgot to mention the ride height impact.

    Hi Cole, one question, should we make sure that wheels are parallel to the car center line before measuring the toe?

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is actually a common miss step. The rack is actually needs to be even to the cars center not the wheels themselves to start the measurements. Otherwise you run the risk of having your alignment not centralized on the rack if that makes sense.

    Would love a video on how to adjust the camber, toe and castor on a stock suspension set up.

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a stock OE setup they are non-adjustable. The OEM cars all had fixed suspension components with no adjustability. Only later aftermarket parts introduced adjustable tie rods, lower control arms and adjustable rear geometry.

    What's the size and off set of your wheels?

  • @Sternhammer89
    @Sternhammer89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you need to jack up the car when aligning the wheels?

    • @classicminidiy
      @classicminidiy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No the alignment needs to be set with the sprung weight of the car on the suspension. Otherwise the alignment would be different from “in the air” to on the ground.

      @@classicminidiy Tks. I have started a front end upgrade for my 998 HLE (1310 Engine, Drum to 7.5 Disc Brake Brake upgrade) I have been following your videos which have / will come in very useful. Got a replacement front SubFrame to build up out of the car to speed up the switch over when it comes to it, although the project funds are now empty :-)

    At 5:25 - Those are called track rod ends, the tie rods 'tie' the lower arm to the front of the subframe, and with adjustables, control the caster angle. Nice vid, whatever.

      Oh booger. I do this from time to time where I think of one thing but say another. Thanks for the correction and the kind words!

    Thank you! Now if all the lads over the pound didn't each have a different opinion on what the proper angles should be 😉🤔

      Opinions are like....everyone's got one! Hahaha I use these specs on my road cars.
      1/16th toe OUT
      3deg caster
      1.5 deg of negative camber
